Tactical nuclear rainbooms... Jesus help us. And the idea of rainbow dash breaking her wings was always ridiculous, remember the maneuvers she pulled off going at supersonic speeds in season 1?
I really enjoyed this episode, crazy, hilarous and twilight's meltdown reminded me of how I feel inside when I have an english paper due and cant think of anything to write down.
'Dash breaks her wings fics are now banned' What?! I actually liked those (Dash is my favorite pony too, not trying to be mean).
Unless this is a joke about the episode, in which case "lalalala" (haven't seen it yet :P) In case this is not a joke, you will be finishing those that are currently incomplete when writers send them in, right?
After thinking about it for a bit, the biggest reason I'm lukewarm to this episode is due to its focus on comedy. I don't watch this show for the comedy; that's just icing on the cake. When you feed me almost all icing...
Still better than some of season 1's duds, but this isn't my favorite. Probably somewhere in the middle.
Tone down the comedy, tone up the heartwarming and character development, and I'll be content.
I came. I saw. I saw lovable, colorful ponies beat the ever loving crap out of each other.
Truly, this is the End of Times.
Naw, really. I haven't had that much of a good laugh in a while. This cements Twilight and Spike as my favorite characters in this show. They were adorable.
Who needs Discord when you have Miss Sparkle running amok?
I'm sure that things will calm down as we move on into the series. I do enjoy the slower paced, more subtle moments but I never get tired of one that's completely off the wall as this one was.
I think some people spend waaaay too much time on the internet to find meme's in every joke made in this episode. Sure, there is potential that the episode SPAWNS memes, but that is totally the fanbase's fault, not the producers.
The only time I ever reacted to anything was Cupcakes being next on the list, other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the episode for what it was, rather than trying to find hidden innuendos towards the fanbase, or stuff to generally dislike.
Oh of note, one of the first things on Twilights Checklist was to drop off her cape at the cleaners.
Now I don't recall her having a Cape in the past. So... either it's a throwaway line, a vague clue to her Nightmare Night Costume... or Something else... hmm...
Anyways, this episode was awesome. The individual parts felt sorta short, and Twi's conclusion that Dash must hate Applejack is a little off the wall, even for crazy Twi. Other than that, I enjoyed it.
Season 3's big shocker... They'll get green-lighted for hour long episodes so they can fit all the awesome into the allotted time without having to compress anything. LOLOLOL
I enjoyed it. Having Twilight doing her teleport thing over and again definatly showed her need to be everywhere at one with the amouth of nerves she was going though. her slow decent into madness, (ok not so slow) so that in the end she is trying to make things happen for her to fix. I think that Big Mac stealing "Spartypants" could be a bit of a shoutout to us Bronies. Him running of with Twilights old toy... Like us collecting MLP toys. I would like to think its a wink to us anyway. (I have Pinky Pie). There is so much more I can say.. but its late and I am tired.
@Jrto66 I think the "when you see it" is the pony in the middle of the first cab. He has round glasses and if you look closely it looks like he has something on his forehead. Harry Potter reference...?
Because RD used a Sonic Rainboom right before she crashes straight down into AJ's barn to demolish it, and she's perfectly fit and hale at the picnic a few hours later. Thus, all RD fics of ehr trying t ocommit suicide or her wings are broken is stupid. It's been proved to be canon that RD can't break her wings slamming into the ground with a Sonic Rainboom, so... Yeah. Now, one will still buy the one fic about RD doing a double sonic rainboom and passing out because of it, thus falling to her death, but even then, that fic is on rocky water now...
frith nailed it in his/her rundown. This was Twilight's breakdown caused by her core nature being put in doubt. The Parasprites were an X-factor ruining her plans for perfection. Forgetting that she hadn't filed a friendship report was a breakdown of her organizational skills, and as Winter Wrap-up explained (in song, no less) that's where she "fits in". She's the leader, the one with the answers, the one with the plan. It wasn't an external crisis that was breaking her... It was the breaking of that part of herself that she relied on to stay calm and deal with any crisis that sent her into an absolute tailspin. And frankly, that's the kind of surprisingly deep characterization that I love about this show.
But really, we're just going round and round with the same small group of people at this point. Still, kudos to frith.
Ok, this was a weird ep... still BEST EPISODE EVER!
When I first saw creepy snapped Twilight I was totally freaked, I'm not fond of characters with those reactions (and there are far too many cartoons using those out there, though not that well animated), then something in my mind clicked: "wait, this is TS, your favorite pony... This is a parody, and she is acting all OCD, you know how bad that can get." And then from I don´t know where I grinned just like her at the realization: Twilight Sparkle can be creepier than Pinkamena... haha Heck YEAH!!
Add the rest of the great memes, Spike breaking the 4th wall, the Sonic Rainnuke, sun clicks like a clock, Celestia being awesome... this ep was a laugh!!
Don't take this ep seriously people, either if you enjoyed it or not, the MLP team was just having fun with it. :D
Really liked this episode. A few tings I caught onto:
-Fluttershy apparently trains with Zangief. -RD is Unbreakable (and deals with it). -Bon Bon's ever-changing VA must be a running gag they're planning to roll with. -The 24 reference every time we see the sun. -Derpy challenging Mayor Mare for control of Ponyville. -Rarity cranking up the Drama™ to 11 (complete with fainting couch). -Pinkie Pie actually being the NORMALEST pony this episode (le gasp, le sigh, le WTF). -Big Macintosh is, indeed, a brony (however the hell that works out, him being a pony and all...). -Also: Big Mac is strong enough to overpower literally almost all of the population of Ponyville at once all by himself. Note to self: don't ever piss him off for any reason. Ever. -The Mane 6 seem to be getting a bit more powerful as their time spent together with the Elements of Harmony goes on. Could they be bestowing them with superpony powers and they not even realizing it?
That about covers my initial coverage. Will definitely have to watch this episode again!
Possibly, but considering the state of her Gala Dress at the end of Best Night Ever, she probably needs to send it to Rarity for fixing than to the Cleaners.
I was thinking of a cape more along the lines of Trixie's Cape. Although honestly I don't know what the case is and if it's even going to be releant again.
Well, the CMC are voiced by actual child actors, so it's probably just her voice changing naturally. It's not really a big deal. Ponies have to go through puberty too, after all.
Although a sonic rainboom for the lulz, Twilight not thinking her cunning plan all the way through, solving it all with a deus ex machina intead of, oh, her FRIENDS helping, and ridiculous and UGLY facial expressions that belonged more in Ren and Stimpy than MLP.
But, you know. It was nice.
... vote Twilight Sparkle for Discord? I mean, WTF Twilight, at least when Pinkie Pie thought Discord had some good ideas she was talking about chocolate rain.
@Bashfluff I must be missing something, because the only shout-out to the fandom that I noticed was Derpy. And that shouldn't be surprising, considering the fan reaction to her amused the animation team so much that they went back and derped her eyes for much of season one.
Seriously, I fail to see where I'm being "pandered" to.
I enjoyed this episode, and I can recognize its' flaws, but "pandering" was not one of these flaws.
Well, I thought some of the jokes were funny, and the Atomic Rainboom was epic (and proved my theory that Cupcakes is patently ridiculous based on the fact that Dash is indestructible). The Appledash tease, deliberate or not, was cause for much joy.
At the same time, I'm not really a fan of the rampant Flanderization. It's not so much that I felt it was completely out-of-character for Twilight, just that they pushed that particular character trait a bit too extreme for my liking.
So, in short, I didn't think it was the best episode ever, but it was far from the worst. *pointed glare at Feeling Pinkie Keen*
Storyboarders and animators could've stood to dial the crazy back in a bit. Pinkie at her worst wasn't this bad, and that was the same writer. The writing itself was fine.
Re: The supporting cast
They were never going to get any serious screen time in a pure Twilight script like this no matter who was writing it. 22 minutes only last so long. McCarthy has a pretty solid track record with handling them in their own episodes. And there are other writers, so relax a little and don't worry about the imminent doom of the franchise even if this episode didn't take for you.
@SovBrony I love shipping, specifically TwiDash the most, but I'm not crazy to presume they're gonna do it the show, or just throw it in mid-episode with no context.
Now, if they did an episode around it, i might believe it but that's as likely as the media ever accepting furries.
After re-watching the episode, I laughed at the comparison I drew between Rarity and the prophets who are speaking of the end-times here (that's an exaggerated remark referring to everyone who's commented negatively on this episode xD).
*overly-analytical negative-minded crazy sees episode 3* This is the- WORST. THING. EVER!
Poor Twilight; I mean, she was so terrified of the impossibility of disappointing Celestia that she had something that could be called Magicbuck Season. Also, it's about time that Celestia turned these friendship reports into a collaborative effort; the main character isn't the only one who needs to learn things by a long shot.
"At the same time, I'm not really a fan of the rampant Flanderization. It's not so much that I felt it was completely out-of-character for Twilight, just that they pushed that particular character trait a bit too extreme for my liking."
Agreed. That, and the way she was acting was preeeeeeety creepy...
So let's see... we get a Rainbow Nuke, Fluttershy executes a Fatality on a bear, Rainbow Dash has "Deal With It" glasses, Twilight goes insane, we have Princess Celestia preforming a mass disspell, Derpy up close, CUPCAKES!, Big Macintosh's eeeeyup and nnnnnNope, Spike has a really, really long tounge, aaaaaand Pinky Pie just being Pinky Pie.
Honestly, I'm sticking with it being a 24 ref, especially since every time we see the sun, it uses the same sound effect from when the clock on 24 showed up.
That, and I've never played Majora's Mask, so 24 is the only context that I saw that particular part in.
While I'm not particularly open to a fifty-page argument over the subject, I would like to point out that not everyone who didn't adore the episode is screaming "ZOMG RUINED 4EVAR!"
Also I'd like to point out that my feelings on this episode were pleasant. I felt as it was a good episode. Twilight freaking out could have been toned down a little bit. But as frith explained in his post it makes sense.
I understand where people wouldn't like the episode and I see where it was weak but, I'm not gonna call down fire and brimstone just because of this episode. Everyone has to remember that all the writers on staff are better at writing characters from others. So you're bound to get a little discrepancy when it comes to them. I don't see how this was pandering towards the older audience. They don't make memes we do.
And for everyone whining about people saying this episode is terrible. Let them be they can have they're own opinion and not like what you like. Though if you don't like the episode a simple list of reasons with out any vitrol should do you good.
I really do think that people are overstating people's reactions to Luna next week. Canon is canon. Fanon is Fanon. Canon trumps fanon no matter what.
Bring on Luna next week.
P.S. SovBrony People immediately jumped to the conclusion you were a troll due to the factor of your actions on the luna post earlier this week. Not because you had a dissenting opinion. I've seen others give their take not get called a troll when they supported their argument and not just a simple this episode "This episode sucked".
The first act was a little painful to watch because Twilight is just so damn anal. But as soon as the sonic Rainboom hit, everything evened out nicely. Funny episode, and a great foundation for the new series now that every pony will be sending letters.
I wasn't disagreeing with the doomsaying part; I'm with you. People are overreacting a bit.
I was more noting the "everybody who commented negatively is a doomsayer" implication. I wasn't that much of a fan of this episode, but I think the doomsaying is patently ridiculous.
Personally, it's been killing me to know what she's really gonna be like and the fanfics aren't helping me any. I have no qualms with a fully canonized Luna, as it will put to rest all of the conflicting ideas I have about her now.
That, and it will also spawn the most EPIC chaos to ever be seen on EqD. Discord and I (dunno if Celestia can make it for that one, since she's got a dinner-date with the head trolls at 4-chan) are gonna get enough LULZ to tide us over for the next THREE WEEKS!
I watched it a 6 am when it aired here I'm Washington and it was the best episode ever! I especially loved the deal with it glasses that rainbow dash wore
Holy crap this was a good episode. Theres going to be an explosion of new Twilight reaction images with the ungodly number of facial expressions she had in that episode. Fluttershy seems to be a shaded with a darker yellow now, after effects of Flutterbitch anyone? She also seems to be a black belt in some form of martial arts. This was definitely the most normal we've seen Pinkie Pie in an episode as of yet, Dashie is now most powerful pony because she can pull of an Atomic Rainboom, Rarity is Drama queen and AJ seems to have a slightly deeper accent all of na sudden. Also I can't help but consider the sunglasses on Dash during the picnic was a nod towards Epic Cupcake time. But in short this episode was a massive win!
@SovBrony I'm so sorry, that one wasn't meant as criticism against you, I meant it as a statement of support, I just worded it really, really badly. I derped, derped so hard.
What I was trying to say was that we have as much right to explain why we didn't like it as those who did like it have to say we're wrong.
So... I have a question... as someone who watched all of season 1 in about a week... I feel disappointed each time I see a new season 2 episode for the first time. Then it kind of grows on me. Is this just an effect of not being willing to face new things? Does anypony else feel this way?
If you're looking for specifics, my wife and I both feel like the animation has gotten 'too' exaggerated, and I feel like the episodes move way faster than the season 1 ones (too fast?). Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but I'm trying to avoid becoming a 'I love season one more' type of fan. Is this how it felt to watch Season 1 episodes as they came out?
Watched it again... that makes 3 now... and I have to say that it's still a great episode. I think I understand why people are worried about the "characterization" but I think the episode's style was just supposed to play this up for laughs and, to this brony at least, they succeed 100 percent.
it's probably just your expectations being really high.
I wasn't around for initial reactions to episodes as they came out, but there are some universally considered meh episodes like Owl's Well That Ends Well or, arguably, Feeling Pinkie Keen.
Some of Twilight's facial expressions... I don't know how they got the green light. Because they creeped ME out! Seriously, she's been taking lessons from Molestia. I'm expecting to see them in a bunch of avatars/icons/signatures/sprays for the next few weeks.
Something I haven't seen mentioned yet: In the new opening, the Final shot of the picture of the mane 6 is all shiny now. I guess Equestria finally developed lamination technology.
The entire episode was one long story about the creation and evolution of MLP:FiM over the first season.
Twilight and her obsessiness and breakdown = Lauran Faust. Celestia = Hasbro. Message about Friendship = ext week's episode needs to be ready! Ms Cake and the 13 cupcakes = The people who create the show, add in a bit extra, and then see LF edit it down a lot to fit into 22 minutes. Magic Kindergarten = Getting sent back to animator school. Any pony can send Celestia a message = The shows bigger than just Lauran Faust, there are other people who can do the job now, but she's still there too. Twilights old My Little Pony = Lauran Faust's old MLP dolls. Giving the doll via Magic to the CMC = Writing MLP:FiM for little girls. Seeing it being loved by all of Ponyville = Bronies going crazy over a little pony show. Big Mac getting the doll at the end = Bronies. Friends need to understand your worries = That should be obvious by now.
Don't all normal ponies do that anyway? Parades can be a BIG mess afterwards!
trolluna.jpg
Also, I LOVED the episode Feeling Pinkie Keen. Do people hate it just cause they don't like the implied message? Heck, that is the ONE episode that made me like Pinkie Pie (Party of One was awesome, but happened too late to change my Pinkie opinion)
I liked this episode. Even though it did serve to lighten the mood from the first two episodes, it still had very important developments. Specifically with Twilight. It shows how obsessive she can get, especially under pressure. That's character development. Also, this episode showed that they do live in a planet very similar to earth. They share the same weekday names, which pretty much limits the places where they could be. I also think that if Rainbow Dash is invincible, they're all invincible. There's been plenty of instances where all of them have had stuff happen to them that should have maimed them, but they were unharmed. Based strictly on canon, most fanfics are wrong from the point that they start. Now with magic on the other hoof...
I've been watching this show since February. It is pretty much the same for every episode, regardless of which Season its in.
I watched all 15 episodes of Season One that we're out at that time, except for Call of the Cutie, when I did watch it, I didn't like it much, but it grew on me.
When newer episodes came out that weren't instant hits such as Sonic Rainboom, though I still loved the episodes, I still had to watch them a few more times to really appreciate them. A Dog and Pony Show, Owl's Well, and Staremaster were episodes that grew on me as time went on.
I think it's a combination of expectations, the episode's content, and indeterminable things that just "click" with some people while others don't. As an episode gets older and is watched more times, it's many strengths and weaknesses become much easier to swallow.
Nowadays, I just go in expecting to see something funny, and since the show is primarily a comedy, I'm never disappointed on that front. All that leaves then is my own personal reaction to what a new episode entails, and since that is countered by having time to absorb the initial 'shock', if you can call it that, and having time to analyse it, I find myself liking pretty much every episode.
Today's episode, for instance, did not disappoint me in terms of comedy. I loved it for what it did to make laugh. I was surprised when Fluttershy did that neck-crack move, but after the initial shock, I find it funny.
Yes, the story's premise was basic, the other 5 of the mane 6 didn't get very much screentime, nor was there any real, deep character development. But I personally believe that none of that matters, because it appears to me that this episode was intended for nothing but fun - and that later episodes shall most likely contain their own levels of heart-touching scenes.
To put it another way, things are always going to be different, that's the beauty of things being NEW. Yes, it's going to seem bad at first, but you'll grow to like it with time as it becomes 'less-new'.
((((((((((((((((((SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS))))))))))))))) This episode has so much things! I love season 2!
-Derpy in intro+derpy fighting mayor (including derp eyes and mouth) -bigmacnope.avi -new intro (choochoo) -Rarity's sofa -Fluttershy is badass king fu fighter -rainbow mushroom -Celestia's forgiveness -Franken Sparkle -Sweetie Belle likes mane -sun is ticking -Rainbow crushing AppleJack's property
On an unrelated note, you know those old ponies in the muffin train car below Derpy are going to factor into a future episode. They're too unique not to. I'm guessing in a Granny Smith centric story.
People are so dramatic (a la Rarity) in this fandom. It seems like EVERY episode is either "BEST EPISODE EVER!" or "WORST EPISODE EVER!" I liked this episode and I laughed a lot, but I think this was a pretty typical MLP episode--a lot of fun, but nothing special. I prefer the heartwarming stuff and where there are more conflicts between the friends :P
I don't see any decline in writing quality, and tbh I don't really wanna read too much into it, because it is a kid's show. I loved Smartypants (reminds me of Leslie Knope's homemade Geraldine Ferraro doll) because of COURSE Twilight wouldn't have been the type to play with Equestria's equivalent of Barbie dolls. I think Twilight tends to freak out whenever she thinks she's gonna let down Princess Celestia (like in Swarm of the Century) and I wanna find out more about Filly Twilight! If she got made fun of in Magic Kindergarten, it makes sense that she was friendless/didn't see the point of friendship until she arrived in Ponvyille.
Lots of other thing to like too in the ep-- the CMC, Big Mac (taking Twi's childhood toy like that--rude!), Fluttershy being badass by HELPING someone, and Rainbow Dash and the atomic rainboom (you know she totally volunteered to help AJ because she wanted to destroy something). I thought the little winks to fandom (Derpy!!!) were subtle and cute-- I like that they're not trying to pander to the older fandom and they still know who their target audience is. long comment is looongggg
@Kaijyuu I guess that explains why I liked it so much; the only part of the cake I eat is the icing. :P
But on a serious note, that was hilarious. Certainly not particularly indicative of the series up to this point, and probably not of the series from this point on, but damn funny. My only real complaint is that, now that Twilight's become queen psycho, Pinkie really has to step up her game from now on!
Also, why is everyone freaking out over this episode? It was funny. Just funny. The next episode probably won't be this funny, but it will probably have more of whatever-it-is that you want. Chill, bronies.
Oh and of course, MVP in this episode is Spike (lol forever at him adding the extra note at the end--I totally would have tried to the same). And who wants to bet some of the ponies (esp Rainbow) were like, Aww man, we also have to write friendship reports? Oh, Trollestia.
Rainbow Dash has the sound effects of an F/A-18 Hornet during her scenes when she is destroying AJ's. Just thought I put that out there as a bit of trivia.
Just as a bit of reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlUWQlXQB20
Have to admit that was an awesome episode, I couldn't stop laughing at how over the top it was. Then again I think that's what they were going for, they really pulled out all the stops for this one.
Today I watched the 3rd Episode of Season 2 and I have to say, I think I learned quite a bit... Not necessarily about friendship, but I can say I learned something. Such as how little of a difference there actually is between me and Twilight, how funny Rarity can actually be, how Fluttershy is secretly a ninja, How insane Twilight can get, how Bon-bon changed voice actors, and that Rainbow Dash and Applejack can do something together that doesn't involve shipping. ... Also, I think that out of Twilight's 2 break-downs in the series that this is much more creepy(though there was a look on her face at one point that I loved the pure insanity of it).
I thouroghly enjoyed myself with this episode. Twilight is still best pony.
That said, I thought they went overboard after Twilight left the picnic. Creepy Twilight is a little too creepy. That dragged the episode down to an 8/10 for me (standard opinion disclaimer here).
Also, has anybody(pony) else noticed how right after the new intro pretty much the same scene from the old intro is part of the Episode(when Spike is going over the checklist)?
I know I'm late to the game in commenting, but that's because I'm working a haunted house and fell back asleep after watching the episode...
...but if no one's pointed this out, I think it's now official: Twilight Sparkle = Hermes Conrad. Just...she doesn't have the special method to ease the stress like Hermes does.
Please, someone make a dub of Hermes' Bureaucrat song...
Anyways, awesome episode. I'd love to discuss it more, but I have another night of making people wet their pants to prepare for.
THIS IS SO AWESOME! /)^3^(\ OCD Twilight is cute AND crazy. The animation is only getting better, so smooth as Twi is walking through town. The intro is better! This is gonna be the BEST SEASON EVER!
I had to make my mother watch this episode, as just last night I super-freaked because I was behind with my studies... and wrote a check list. I always thought I was more of an RD type, being a tomboy, but for the first time I was pointing at the screen going 'OMG that's Meeee!' (even down to how she wrapped the duvet over her). On the extra plus side, I loved seeing Derpy and RD in her shades. 20% cooler! I think the train might run on magic? Also is Mac pulling Bon Bon's tail?????
Why would we have to stay up all night to watch something at 9? Truth be told, didn't like this one too much :| Something painful about watching someone get situations so wrong, if only because I've been there, a lot.
Really funny episode. Lots of over-the-top comedy, awesome facial expressions and overall good cartoony fun. And Twilight playing central role, yes-yes-yes-yes.
Though I really enjoyed it and actually laughed out loud at some bits, I hope that they have a good amount of adventure episodes with a more serious tone in store for us to keep a good balance.
Also, Berry Punch appeared in a whole lot of scenes :)
What about the scene where Twilight sees Fluttershy coming out of the shower- alright, bad Evangelion joke, I'm sorry everypony, I'll just let myself out.
Bon-Bon's voice acting - She's not getting a better VA, nor a consistent one because she's just a background character. Sorry, that's what she is. And she's only a recurring BGC because someone thinks she has a nice coloration. Maybe by season 3 they'll start recognizing the fan-picked, fanon-developed characters that are otherwise meant only for one-shots or window dressing, but for now they get no love.
All that "cartoony fun" detracts from the Totally Serious MESSAGE of the show! An emotionally gripping and lengthy monologue from Twilight about the Duality of Pony should've replaced the final 15 minutes of the episode! True Art is Angsty!

This was absolutely worth the wait. I don't mind waiting a little longer for future episodes if the rest of the season is of this quality.
ReplyDeleteDear god - I almost liked this more than episode 2! Seems the writers are pulling out all the stops this season!
ReplyDelete...and did anypony else die laughing at Bic Mac at the end? Cos I know I did XD
Tactical nuclear rainbooms... Jesus help us.
ReplyDeleteAnd the idea of rainbow dash breaking her wings was always ridiculous, remember the maneuvers she pulled off going at supersonic speeds in season 1?
I really enjoyed this episode, crazy, hilarous and twilight's meltdown reminded me of how I feel inside when I have an english paper due and cant think of anything to write down.
@SovBrony that's... that's not even nearly the same thing!
ReplyDeletesomebody said that AppleDash was implied. Hardly.
ReplyDeleteThe way they utilized the pair was as simple friends helping each other. Or, well, one helping.
I could say TwiDash was implied because Dash hugged Twi at the end, but that'd be absurd at best.
As much as I would like it, shipping will likely never be canon.
@Kesono
ReplyDeletemy troll genes are waiting for that episode.
So much butthurt potential.
Why are Dash breaks her wings fics banned? Is it because the topic is played out?
ReplyDeleteSo now spike can break the fourth wall? ok...
ReplyDelete@Octas
ReplyDeleteYes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes.... yes
I am seeing TwiMac bigtime. Like I said before...
Last episode, Dig mac licks Twilight
This episode, Big Mac is infatuated with one of Twilight's fillyhood possessions.
I see Big Mac falling for Twi, who remains adorkably oblivious to Big Mac's attentions... at least in the ship fics.
'Dash breaks her wings fics are now banned'
ReplyDeleteWhat?! I actually liked those (Dash is my favorite pony too, not trying to be mean).
Unless this is a joke about the episode, in which case "lalalala" (haven't seen it yet :P)
In case this is not a joke, you will be finishing those that are currently incomplete when writers send them in, right?
After thinking about it for a bit, the biggest reason I'm lukewarm to this episode is due to its focus on comedy. I don't watch this show for the comedy; that's just icing on the cake. When you feed me almost all icing...
ReplyDeleteStill better than some of season 1's duds, but this isn't my favorite. Probably somewhere in the middle.
Tone down the comedy, tone up the heartwarming and character development, and I'll be content.

ReplyDeleteBreaking something to Fix it later is still breaking something. that was the point.
What is the "when you see it" thing

ReplyDeleteI hope everything pulls through, it would be a shame to see the Luna fans all sad right after Luna's own debut.. D:
Assuming that Luna's personality contrasts the one's made up for her, which I fear may be possible.

Anyway, looking forward to next week already!
I think some people spend waaaay too much time on the internet to find meme's in every joke made in this episode. Sure, there is potential that the episode SPAWNS memes, but that is totally the fanbase's fault, not the producers.

ReplyDeleteThere is so much more I can say.. but its late and I am tired.
I'm calling this:
ReplyDeleteApple Cider from the Bronyville podcast will share that he REALLY enjoyed this episode in the next Bronyville podcast.
that was an incredible episode
ReplyDelete@InFamous Spartan
ReplyDeleteIf you survive a direct nuclear explosion, you're fucking invincible.
So, Dash cannot possibly be hurt be normal means.
@Jrto66
ReplyDeleteI think the "when you see it" is the pony in the middle of the first cab. He has round glasses and if you look closely it looks like he has something on his forehead. Harry Potter reference...?
@Killsteal_Wolf
ReplyDeleteRe-examine her gala dress.
It's official!
ReplyDeleteBig Mac is a brony!
Only a brony would try to make a custom pony out of that doll.
@lugthor
ReplyDeleteNo,the 3 elderly ponies are based on some elderly in Fosters home.
@DrahcirAloer:
ReplyDeleteBecause RD used a Sonic Rainboom right before she crashes straight down into AJ's barn to demolish it, and she's perfectly fit and hale at the picnic a few hours later.
~ Magical Trevor, Minstrel of Equestria
frith nailed it in his/her rundown.
ReplyDeleteBut really, we're just going round and round with the same small group of people at this point. Still, kudos to frith.
Ok, this was a weird ep... still BEST EPISODE EVER!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw creepy snapped Twilight I was totally freaked, I'm not fond of characters with those reactions (and there are far too many cartoons using those out there, though not that well animated), then something in my mind clicked: "wait, this is TS, your favorite pony...
@lugthor @Jrto66
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm pretty sure Seth is talking about Derpy in the top of the first car...
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete"Dash breaks her wings fics are now banned"
ReplyDeleteWelp, Seth successfully shot down half the plotline for my "MLP/Saw" crossover.
Blow me.
Really liked this episode. A few tings I caught onto:
ReplyDelete-Fluttershy apparently trains with Zangief.
Ffff... new favorite episode. Some of that was way too familiar.
ReplyDelete*watches Fluttershy snap necks*
ReplyDeleteMe: What!? Why? WHY?!
*realizes Fluttershy was actually massaging a bear's neck*
Me: Daaaaaw
I feel like somepony already said this, but did they change scootaloo's voice? she sounded different. oh, and that was the best fucking episode, ever.
ReplyDeleteWHEN ARE WE GOING TO HEAR SOME NEW SONGS!? D:
@80PercentBrony
ReplyDeletePossibly, but considering the state of her Gala Dress at the end of Best Night Ever, she probably needs to send it to Rarity for fixing than to the Cleaners.
I was thinking of a cape more along the lines of Trixie's Cape. Although honestly I don't know what the case is and if it's even going to be releant again.
@Derpy hooves
ReplyDeleteWell, the CMC are voiced by actual child actors, so it's probably just her voice changing naturally. It's not really a big deal. Ponies have to go through puberty too, after all.
I thought it was... nice.
ReplyDeleteAlthough a sonic rainboom for the lulz, Twilight not thinking her cunning plan all the way through, solving it all with a deus ex machina intead of, oh, her FRIENDS helping, and ridiculous and UGLY facial expressions that belonged more in Ren and Stimpy than MLP.
But, you know. It was nice.
... vote Twilight Sparkle for Discord? I mean, WTF Twilight, at least when Pinkie Pie thought Discord had some good ideas she was talking about chocolate rain.
@mrjoshmacintosh
ReplyDeleteAlso, directly below Derpy is a pony with large glasses. The Brony memebase site has pointed out that it looks like Mrs. Foster.
@Bashfluff
ReplyDeleteI must be missing something, because the only shout-out to the fandom that I noticed was Derpy.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, I'm not really a fan of the rampant Flanderization. It's not so much that I felt it was completely out-of-character for Twilight, just that they pushed that particular character trait a bit too extreme for my liking.
So, in short, I didn't think it was the best episode ever, but it was far from the worst. *pointed glare at Feeling Pinkie Keen*
So, does Celestia's new order relieve them of having to come up with an Aesop for every show?
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who's not seeing the AppleDash tease at all? I can see how you might see it, if you're fucking insane, but I'm not seeing it.
ReplyDeleteSomeone care to explain?
While I did enjoy the episode very much, it kind of lacked the intense heartwarming emotions that I got used to feeling while watching MLP.
ReplyDeleteAlso: Twilight Sparkle tele-frags that ball all to Hell and back. Me thinks she plays a good amount of FPSs in her off-time.
ReplyDeleteSing-along with this, my mind went straight to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU1Gih0iJME
ReplyDeleteIt was the, best ep' ever
Laughter raining down like chocolate showers
Rainbow Dash wore glasses
Best ep' ever
Remember when Fluttershy totally wrestled that bear?
She's not normally like that, which is why it was funny
Twi was in a craze
Spike referenced Cupca-a-a-a-akes
It's the time of week again
When you've just gotta saaay... what the haaay
And click repeat click repeat click repeat click repeat click repeat 'til Saturday (That's the 22nd)
Click repeat click repeat click repeat click repeat click repeat 'til Saturday (Luna's gonna be there)
Click repeat click repeat click repeat press repeat mash repeat 'til Saturday
Click repeeeeeaaaaat...
Meh, had some good moments, but overall I wasn't a huge fan of this episode.I'll wait until at least episode 5 before I start doom-mongering,though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, in B4 train in opening becomes an actual toy.
"Dash breaks her wings fics are now banned"
ReplyDeleteI am in full support of this.
@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteSome perverts see shipping everywhere... I did not saw it neither.
@frith Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner! Also I really don't buy this whole "fanservice" argument some of you are trying to raise.
ReplyDelete@DrahcirAloer
ReplyDeleteYeah now that you mention it...
Also... why couldn't Twilight catch Rainbow Dash in the Discord episodes like she did in this one? :D
ReplyDeleteStoryboarders and animators could've stood to dial the crazy back in a bit. Pinkie at her worst wasn't this bad, and that was the same writer. The writing itself was fine.
ReplyDeleteRe: The supporting cast
They were never going to get any serious screen time in a pure Twilight script like this no matter who was writing it. 22 minutes only last so long. McCarthy has a pretty solid track record with handling them in their own episodes. And there are other writers, so relax a little and don't worry about the imminent doom of the franchise even if this episode didn't take for you.
@SovBrony
ReplyDeleteI love shipping, specifically TwiDash the most, but I'm not crazy to presume they're gonna do it the show, or just throw it in mid-episode with no context.
Now, if they did an episode around it, i might believe it but that's as likely as the media ever accepting furries.
Got to chime in with:
ReplyDeleteA hilarious episode, I wish I had not watched it.
Please let this be a one-off brony appreciation episode.
@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDelete"-The 24 reference every time we see the sun."
I think it was more of a Majora's Mask reference.
@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteI did not say shippers are pervert!
okay,sorry,I'm just over reacting now.
Well, there was that one show about a duck, that had a lesbian character. the same show featured a nazi bird named Dolf...
I only know the hebrew name of that show.
After re-watching the episode, I laughed at the comparison I drew between Rarity and the prophets who are speaking of the end-times here (that's an exaggerated remark referring to everyone who's commented negatively on this episode xD).
ReplyDelete*overly-analytical negative-minded crazy sees episode 3*
This is the-
WORST.
THING.
ReplyDelete@Arjay Creyo
ReplyDelete"At the same time, I'm not really a fan of the rampant Flanderization.
ReplyDelete@Harwick
ReplyDeleteThanks Harwick, You're a sweetheart. 8^)
getting tardy? use a TARDIS!
ReplyDelete@EvilHom3r
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm sticking with it being a 24 ref, especially since every time we see the sun, it uses the same sound effect from when the clock on 24 showed up.
That, and I've never played Majora's Mask, so 24 is the only context that I saw that particular part in.
jesus, guys, way to find a way to over analyze an episode. Just watch it and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I didn't like the RedLetterMedia review of TPM, went way too into detail.
@SethEXE
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm not particularly open to a fifty-page argument over the subject, I would like to point out that not everyone who didn't adore the episode is screaming "ZOMG RUINED 4EVAR!"
Sweet jesus....Twilight....
ReplyDeleteOkay, so now we know that RD can pull of Rainbooms at will, and that Twi has a psychotic mode.
ReplyDeleteWe also know that Big Mac likes plushies and that RD owns a pair of sunglasses and safety goggles.
Rarity can summon furniture, and Fluttershy WRESTLES BEARS.
Oh what fun the fanfic writers shall have.
Also I'd like to point out that my feelings on this episode were pleasant. I felt as it was a good episode. Twilight freaking out could have been toned down a little bit. But as frith explained in his post it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI understand where people wouldn't like the episode and I see where it was weak but, I'm not gonna call down fire and brimstone just because of this episode.
Anyways that's my extended take Ikusa out.
I've heard Bon Bon speak in like 3 episodes and it seems like she has a different VA each time. Pick one already.
ReplyDeleteInb4 all the TWILIGHT IS A LUNATIC fanfictions.
ReplyDeleteYou wait, We'll have another competitor trying to beat Cupcakes.
@Arjay Creyo Enough of them are to warrant what I said ^_^
ReplyDelete@Furbyz
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't surprise me if that's gonna turn into a running gag with the production crew.
They did it! They made the best episode ever!
ReplyDeleteAnd best episode it was!
I can't believe how much fanmaterial they just put un one episode Oo
The first act was a little painful to watch because Twilight is just so damn anal.
ReplyDeleteBut as soon as the sonic Rainboom hit, everything evened out nicely.
Funny episode, and a great foundation for the new series now that every pony will be sending letters.
Twilight going insane = comedy gold!
ReplyDeleteExcellent episode. Hells yes.
ReplyDelete@Ikusa GT
ReplyDelete"Canon trumps fanon no matter what."
That's the one part of your post I disagree with (and I didn't even like the episode that much.)
Canon doesn't ALWAYS beat Fanon. For example, I once got press-ganged into reading a Twilight fanfic that actually made Edward LIKEABLE.
Re: Anyone saying "stop over analyzing!"

HOLLY SHIOT
ReplyDeleteThat is- I mean- Words just can't- IT WAS SO AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!

@SethEXE
ReplyDeleteI wasn't disagreeing with the doomsaying part; I'm with you. People are overreacting a bit.
I was more noting the "everybody who commented negatively is a doomsayer" implication. I wasn't that much of a fan of this episode, but I think the doomsaying is patently ridiculous.
Atomic RainBOOM. My life is heading towards completion.
ReplyDelete@Kesono
ReplyDeleteI welcome that day with open hooves.
Isn't it rather absurd to be calling doomsday yet?
ReplyDeletecmon guys, don't ruin the series for yourselves before it all comes out.
I watched it a 6 am when it aired here I'm Washington and it was the best episode ever! I especially loved the deal with it glasses that rainbow dash wore
ReplyDeleteIs that a old harry potter in pony form on that train under deerpy????????
ReplyDelete@milesprower06
ReplyDeleteYou didn't like ep17? FOR SHAME, Miles. XD
Inb4 Twilight bakes her friends into letters.
ReplyDeleteWell, it seems that Twilight Psycho is now cannon and yes for a new line from Bon-Bon!
ReplyDeleteEh. I think it was a mediocre episode, to be honest. Had some cute points, but all in all it wasn't that great.
ReplyDeleteI really don't like the train in the opening, and the remastered song....just doesn't compare to me.
The colors seem a little weird, to. More Neon somehow?
Despite all that, I do think the episode was needed. And I liked the cute points.
Holy crap this was a good episode. Theres going to be an explosion of new Twilight reaction images with the ungodly number of facial expressions she had in that episode.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy seems to be a shaded with a darker yellow now, after effects of Flutterbitch anyone?
ReplyDeleteI derped, derped so hard.
What I was trying to say was that we have as much right to explain why we didn't like it as those who did like it have to say we're wrong.
best episode so far
ReplyDeleteSo... I have a question... as someone who watched all of season 1 in about a week... I feel disappointed each time I see a new season 2 episode for the first time. Then it kind of grows on me. Is this just an effect of not being willing to face new things? Does anypony else feel this way?
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for specifics, my wife and I both feel like the animation has gotten 'too' exaggerated, and I feel like the episodes move way faster than the season 1 ones (too fast?). Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but I'm trying to avoid becoming a 'I love season one more' type of fan. Is this how it felt to watch Season 1 episodes as they came out?
Thanks for any comments!
Wow, that episode was so great I'm nearly speechless. Also, insane Twilight FTW!
ReplyDeleteWatched it again... that makes 3 now... and I have to say that it's still a great episode. I think I understand why people are worried about the "characterization" but I think the episode's style was just supposed to play this up for laughs and, to this brony at least, they succeed 100 percent.
ReplyDelete@MouseNBrowse
ReplyDeleteit's probably just your expectations being really high.
I wasn't around for initial reactions to episodes as they came out, but there are some universally considered meh episodes like Owl's Well That Ends Well or, arguably, Feeling Pinkie Keen.
I've seen it 3 times now. I still think it's top tier episode material despite it feeling rushed in the first half.
ReplyDeleteSome of Twilight's facial expressions... I don't know how they got the green light. Because they creeped ME out! Seriously, she's been taking lessons from Molestia. I'm expecting to see them in a bunch of avatars/icons/signatures/sprays for the next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteAnd then they drafted the Constitution
ReplyDeleteA (hopefully) short list of some of the memes produced by this episode alone.
ReplyDeletePsycholight.

P.S.: NOT ENOUGH LUNA AND PINKIE PIE!
Princes Celestia's GUARDS CHANGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are brown now?????

ReplyDeleteAm I a bad person for hating her voice?
Nice Derpy cameos though, and Big Mac...why does he still look like a dog to me?!?!
This episode has so much memefodder
ReplyDeleteCrazy Twilight
Overdramatic Rarity
Big Mac x Smarty Pants
Rainbow in shades
Special forces Fluttershy
Sonic Rainnuke
Am I missing anything?
The first act was a little hard to watch, but all in all great ep.
ReplyDeleteNot only funny, but a great foundation for the season to come.
Something I haven't seen mentioned yet: In the new opening, the Final shot of the picture of the mane 6 is all shiny now. I guess Equestria finally developed lamination technology.
ReplyDeleteCelestia is expecting some MALE !?!?!?
ReplyDeleteDUN DUN DUUUN
The entire episode was one long story about the creation and evolution of MLP:FiM over the first season.
ReplyDeleteTwilight and her obsessiness and breakdown = Lauran Faust.
Celestia = Hasbro.
MADAME FOSTER IS IN THE TRAIN :D
ReplyDeleteooo...mail not MALE...DERP
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh that was awesome. Everypony was awesome. The animation was awesome.
ReplyDeleteIs it too early to rewatch the episode?
Hmmm.
Nope!

Also, I LOVED the episode Feeling Pinkie Keen. Do people hate it just cause they don't like the implied message? Heck, that is the ONE episode that made me like Pinkie Pie (Party of One was awesome, but happened too late to change my Pinkie opinion)
You dont even know how long it took to scroll down on my ipod. I Love when twilights face is like trollestias!
ReplyDeleteI liked this episode.
ReplyDeleteEven though it did serve to lighten the mood from the first two episodes, it still had very important developments.
@MouseNBrowse
ReplyDeleteI've been watching this show since February.
((((((((((((((((((SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS)))))))))))))))
ReplyDeleteThis episode has so much things! I love season 2!
-Derpy in intro+derpy fighting mayor (including derp eyes and mouth)
-bigmacnope.avi
-new intro (choochoo)
-Rarity's sofa
-Fluttershy is badass king fu fighter
-rainbow mushroom
-Celestia's forgiveness
-Franken Sparkle
-Sweetie Belle likes mane
-sun is ticking
-Rainbow crushing AppleJack's property
@Comstar
ReplyDelete*slow clap*
I'm screencapping this comment. It's brilliant.
@richfiles
ReplyDeleteyeah, I hated the moral of feeling pinkie keen because it was essentially the pony version of ICP's "Miracles."
Fucking pinkie, how does she work?
@Comstar Freaking EPIC. :D I doubt they were thinking that far when making this ep, but it certainly does fit perfectly the way you put it!
ReplyDeleteOn an unrelated note, you know those old ponies in the muffin train car below Derpy are going to factor into a future episode. They're too unique not to. I'm guessing in a Granny Smith centric story.
ReplyDeleteAnypony else notice that Twilight did the "Pinkamena twitch" nearly 4 minutes into the episode?
ReplyDeleteAnd thus was the arrival of Twilight Psycho.
Guys, there's something called SaveTube. You should check it out.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the "BEST EPISODE EVER" subtitle of this post until I saw the second half...featuring
ReplyDeleteEPIC FLUTTERSHY SMACKDOWN
and
TACTICAL SONIC RAINBOOM!!!
Sorry, everypony. This just confirms that Rainbow Dash is Best Pony and Fluttershy is even more awesome than Princess Celestia.
Psycho Twilight is now best pony
ReplyDelete@RadicalEdward2
ReplyDeleteThank you for publishing that, my life is complete... :'D
@Cornstar *claps at comment*
ReplyDelete@Comstar You, sir, are epic! (But then, that could just be the after-effects of the TACTICAL SONIC RAINBOOM talking.)
ReplyDeletePeople are so dramatic (a la Rarity) in this fandom.
ReplyDeleteI don't see any decline in writing quality, and tbh I don't really wanna read too much into it, because it is a kid's show.
"The ponies in this town are crazy!"
ReplyDeleteIt seemed a bit heavy on the fan service to me.
ReplyDelete@Kaijyuu
ReplyDeleteI guess that explains why I liked it so much; the only part of the cake I eat is the icing.
@Jrto66
ReplyDeleteMadame Foster.
Does this make humans in Equestria canon?
HOLY CRAP I THINK I COUNTED WRONG Celestplot #4 and #5
ReplyDeleteOh and of course, MVP in this episode is Spike (lol forever at him adding the extra note at the end--I totally would have tried to the same). And who wants to bet some of the ponies (esp Rainbow) were like, Aww man, we also have to write friendship reports? Oh, Trollestia.
ReplyDeleteT'was worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteStill no Luna though. :c
Holy. Fuck. This was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteThank god I now have the hub channel, spoiler: Does sonic mushboom cloud sound right?
ReplyDeleteWow, I haven't laughed that hard with any other episode yet! Twilight's psycho face/laugh just goes straight to my soul. O_o
ReplyDeleteAlso loved the Big Mac nope.
Rainbow Dash has the sound effects of an F/A-18 Hornet during her scenes when she is destroying AJ's. Just thought I put that out there as a bit of trivia.
ReplyDeleteJust as a bit of reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlUWQlXQB20
@Ikusa GT
ReplyDeleteha, cool find bro.
Have to admit that was an awesome episode, I couldn't stop laughing at how over the top it was. Then again I think that's what they were going for, they really pulled out all the stops for this one.
ReplyDeleteSONIC RAINBOMB MOTHERF*CKER!
ReplyDeleteThat was an amazing episode.
ReplyDeleteNeeds a bit less fanservice, though.
I knew it, there's already images of Pinkamina and Twilight Psycho on Ponibooru!
ReplyDeleteANOTHER AMAZING EPISODE!!!
ReplyDeleteCreepy Twilight is amazing :3
My new top favorite mental breakdowns:
ReplyDelete3) Fluttershy
2) Pinkie Pie
1) Twilight Sparkle
Seriously, the entire time I was watching her psychoticness I coudln't decide wether to laugh my flank off or cry hysterically.
MUST W8 FOR 1080p B4 WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei feel a crapload of bigmac/doll ships coming up
ReplyDeleteBit too OTT for me (kept thinking 'is this going to be a dream sequence?'), but certainly had it's moments.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't going to reduce the number of GrimDark fics though (overpowered ponies+mental instability...).
I liked the episode... but did anyone else catch Celestia's disappearing shoes? >D
ReplyDeleteFinally, Big Macintosh says something more than "Eeeh...yup." Exactly: "Eeeh... nope." *insert nope.avi here*
ReplyDeleteAlso, Smartypants is best pony.
What the **** did I just watch. . .
ReplyDeleteAlso is it me or do they have new voice actors that aren't very good?
Can someone point out the "fan service" please?
ReplyDelete@megantron
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%!
@kal413 Never had a day where you felt the need to be hammy?
ReplyDelete@DesertStar
ReplyDeleteI ask my self the same.
Some would say It's "THA BEST EPISODE EVAR! SO MUCH FANSERVICE!"
Magic Kindergarten, Back Right, Alicorn.
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed it.
To those who feel that this episode didn't deserve the "EPIC" that people are giving it, consider the following:
ReplyDeletehttp://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/71674
Go on, check it out, we'll wait...
...all done? Good! Now, don't you agree that they blew all our expectations away?
Dear Princess Celestia,
ReplyDeleteToday I watched the 3rd Episode of Season 2 and I have to say, I think I learned quite a bit...
Signed, Twilight Sniper 197
Have you missed me celestia
ReplyDeleteWaiting for this EP. was the WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteKarateshy is BADASS!!
ReplyDelete@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteppl realize that any sufficiently sized explosion will cause a mushroom cloud, right?
In any case, now you all realize why Pinkie needed the hacksaw. :D
I thouroghly enjoyed myself with this episode. Twilight is still best pony.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I thought they went overboard after Twilight left the picnic. Creepy Twilight is a little too creepy. That dragged the episode down to an 8/10 for me (standard opinion disclaimer here).
@Draglord2505
ReplyDeletei agree
After watching this episode, I have only one thing to say.
ReplyDeleteEVERYTHING IS FANTASTIC FOREVER
I didn't like this episode. At all.
ReplyDeleteToo many funny cartoon hijinks, not enough sober character study. Very disappointing.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL-
Did She say... CUPCAKES!!!!???? OO
ReplyDeleteMind-blowage time.
ReplyDeleteGo look at the clipboard after Twilight writes on it when acting like a psychiatrist to RD.
It looks suspiciously like Lauren Faust's signature. Go look at some of her signed stuff.
Combat/destruction Rainboom maneuvers = win.
ReplyDeleteA train in the middle of Ponyville = why the hell is there a train in the middle of Ponyville?
Also, until yesterday, I never thought I'd say this without being ironic, but...And then Fluttershy wrestled a bear.
OVERANALYZE ALL THE EPISODES
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, there wasn't really fanservice in this episode.
If there was, please point it out to me.

ReplyDeleteThis was the greatest thing in the history of our civilisation...
ReplyDeleteAlso, has anybody(pony) else noticed how right after the new intro pretty much the same scene from the old intro is part of the Episode(when Spike is going over the checklist)?
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to the game in commenting, but that's because I'm working a haunted house and fell back asleep after watching the episode...
ReplyDelete...but if no one's pointed this out, I think it's now official: Twilight Sparkle = Hermes Conrad.
ReplyDeleteI had to make my mother watch this episode, as just last night I super-freaked because I was behind with my studies... and wrote a check list.
ReplyDeleteWhy would we have to stay up all night to watch something at 9?
ReplyDeleteTruth be told, didn't like this one too much :| Something painful about watching someone get situations so wrong, if only because I've been there, a lot.
Really funny episode. Lots of over-the-top comedy, awesome facial expressions and overall good cartoony fun. And Twilight playing central role, yes-yes-yes-yes.
ReplyDeleteThough I really enjoyed it and actually laughed out loud at some bits, I hope that they have a good amount of adventure episodes with a more serious tone in store for us to keep a good balance.
Also, Berry Punch appeared in a whole lot of scenes :)
@Lord Blaze
ReplyDeleteWhat about the scene where Twilight sees Fluttershy coming out of the shower- alright, bad Evangelion joke, I'm sorry everypony, I'll just let myself out.
ReplyDeleteExcept for Derpy. Because Derpy is love.
Anyone else notice Dinky in magic kindergarten?
ReplyDelete@Sssonic
ReplyDeleteI was going to comment, but you pretty much hit the nail on the head with what I wanted to say. Kudos :)
@Jrto66 Well, not sure about what it's supposed to be, but I saw 2 Derpy's in there.
ReplyDeleteThough I'm getting a feeling he's talking about the train itself.
ITS OVER 1 THOUSAND!
ReplyDeleteJust noticed.
ReplyDeleteStill no "EI".
@Bat3man
ReplyDeleteAll that "cartoony fun" detracts from the Totally Serious MESSAGE of the show! An emotionally gripping and lengthy monologue from Twilight about the Duality of Pony should've replaced the final 15 minutes of the episode! True Art is Angsty!
