Minecraft Stuff #3

Source
Those crazy Minecrafters are at it again! Up above someone has recreated Sunny Town from Story of the Blanks, and below is a bunch of 3D ponies, because 3D Ponies are best ponies or something.

I'm limiting the 2D ponies a bit.   It's really too easy to generate those without very much effort.  They were fun for a while, but automated programs sort of kill it.

There is probably a 3D  Generator too that I don't know of, but for now, it remains MAGICAL.

Nice. I was thinking about making some 3d stuff in minecraft but looks like this guy beat me to it.

Seth there is a program that you can design and build in, as well as several planners (MCEdit comes to mind)

That Trixie's kinda dark... needs better lighting.

Purty darn impressive, or worrisome that people take the time to build these. i'll go with impressive.

Sandoval said...

Damn, must of taken a long time to make these

Im pretty sure that this guy deserves an internet or two. Thank you for contributing to the awesomeness that is pony.

Whatever you want. It's yours.

Use Minecraft Single Player Commands and /light to take good screenshots. There will be no shadows. It will help do these models justice, especially the Trixie one.

Awesome stuff. I love that one Trixie pose with her hoof on her hat, casting a spell.

It's gotten to the point where you need to make a timelapse video to impress with 2D stuff now... le sigh, so much extra effort.

Hey, this is the creator of that Story of the Blanks recreation! Seth forgot to add a link to the rest of the pictures I took of the village, and he didn't mention that I actually fully recreated the evil version as well!

Please check out the rest of the pictures!

There's an exporter around somewhere that lets you export 3D models into .schematic files. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's used to store sections of a Minecraft world for use with third-party programs, primarily McEdit.

Imagine the Endermen as the zombie ponies.
Think about it though....

Everyone keeps saying how scary Story Of The Blanks was... Honestly I found Cupcakes a lot more disturbing. Not to say I didn't like it, It is INCREDIBLY well made for a amateur game dev.
And yes, Minecraft... As a Minecraft player myself I think I should probably make something awesome in creative mode to give back to the community a bit. Not like it could ever compare to something like this though, and besides, survival is so addicting!

That's it! There had better be some SERIOUS magic dueling between Trixie and Twilight soon. I'm tired of this saber rattling.

I'd be more impressed if I thought they were made "by hand" as it were, but there are converters for models and the like and map editors now that make this stuff a lot easier. It just doesn't seem as cool when you know they could have just plunked it down in an editor instead.

Interesting. I wonder who's version of this was first, we did the same thing, with importing Shadowsquirrel's models and coloring them. I wish I knew this was worthy of an EqD post or I'd have posted it. We've had all of the same things for weeks on our server. Connect to brohoof.com with Minecraft 1.8 and just look around you, its the whole spawn.

Some pictures of it

My giant pony
I used to wonder what Minecraft could be
Until you all shared it's magic with me

Ash said...

Thanks for kind words ...

Yeh, I made these a while ago for my guilds server, then the bronies on it said I should submit em.

It is worth noting that every block is hoof placed in survival =D MCedit is for the weak! (and moving finished projects =P )

(love the brohoof.com trixie wayyy better than mine!)

as for how long do they take to make? ... if you "cheat" a few hours - if you have no life ... an average of 4-5 days!

Download link somepony ?

Um, that Sunny town? Sorry to burst your bubble, but it will be gone.

The server that it's on will be completely restarted. I hold no ill will over this, but just alerting everypony :)

abrachoo said...

Is there anywhere that I can get the schematic download file for these?

There's also creative mode as of 1.8 to help with these massive building projects. It still takes time, but as long as you have several hours and some blueprints it is quite doable.
Creative mode was used on that Celestia in the recent drawfriend, you can tell by the flying and unnumbered torches (noone ever has only one torch in a slot for very long unless it's creative mode where that one torch is infinitely placible.)

I used binvox on my fluttershy. (The bottom one) It looks like the other guy did aswell to generate his blue prints. It also looks like we both used the same modles XD.
