Celestia as the overprotective guardian-figure totally makes sense to me. She's like the old father who makes a point of being on the porch, cleaning his shotgun when his daughter brings her date over for dinner, then follows a threat of violence should the date think of his daughter as "just another pair of legs" up with a laugh.
That is Celsestia in my mind, and this comic captured that perfectly.
Dinky-doo is cute as fuck in the second comic. For some reason, I read the "best sock ever" line in Pierce Smoulder's voice. But that's good, because Pierce Smoulder has a damn fine voice for Derpy/Dinky.
First one, funny but wrong.
Second one... Derpy is best mother pony. Hooves down. and Dinky is best daughter pony.

Took me a while to realize that was Ditzy's arm with bandages holding a needle.
After realizing that, the comic got 200% cooler.

#1 hilarious, reminds one of those abridged series that always paints the characters in the most unlike-able fashions, yet manages to be funny enough to ignore how horrible they are to each other. :D
#2 took a moment to figure out, probably could have done with another panel or better positioning, but still adorable
First off Luna/Big Mac is my OTP. Second Dinky should be Derpy's little sister. Its adorable but come on, I'd rather Derpy be the slightly mentally retarded big sister that the slightly mentally retarded single teenage mother. Just sayin'.

Well, it's up to the fan what derpy's mental status and age are. As much as I agree that _I_ would, in general, prefer a sister derpy rather than mother derpy, if the fandom had decided to do that, we wouldn't have nearly the amount of great, emotional fanfic we have today.

Also, Derpy as the same age was at the Summer Sun Celebration in Canterlot that Twilight attended as a filly in the episode 'Cutie Mark Chronicles'.
