Wireframe Pony Sculpture

We have had ponies made out of pipecleaners, felt, paper, and pretty much everything else non-lethal you can think of, so why not add another one to the list! This is a wireframe pony contructed by an artist named David Deuchar at Indiana University.  Apparently something like that takes fourty hours of work! I have to admit, I didn't even know this medium existed outside of the 3D modeling in the virtual world.

Now we need to make a giant one and convert it into a bridge! Wouldn't that be neat..?

@DashieBro for what?

Cool, but which pony is it supposed to be?

Bombedrumbum said...

I think that one of the only things that could possibly top this is a pony made out of a building.

@Bombedrumbum It was a joke for Wolveon

This wireframe requires... a SHRUBBERY

@MyBoyJ I think that it's Rarity, but I can't quite be sure.....

@DashieBro ah, I see

@Echo Nf away with thee! Ni! Ni! Ni!

@MyBoyJ I think it looks like is Trixie

Would live to see it paper machèd or something.

@Bombedrumbum

I thought Rarity at first too, but I don't see a horn.

DashieBro said...

@Ismaldi4ever Yeah, that would be 20% cooler

DashieBro said...

@MyBoyJ But Rarity's hair is brushed down on both sides, not just one

Bombedrumbum said...

The top picture definitely is Rarity by the hairstyle.

Hey, forty hours of worlk is nothing to scoff at, and a horn might have taken longer....

So we need a pony wireframe sculpture that Transforms into a bridge?

Pony Bridge Transformers are clearly the wave of the future. I'll take twelve!

@thegreatandpowerfulchalupa

You could try sculpting a pony out of Semtex. That would really be a blast.

I have a feeling it might be a background character or an OC.

Or maybe just a generic "pony".

In any case, it is still very impressive.

“I didn't even know this medium existed outside of the 3D modeling in the virtual world. ”

Um, well, this is the medium from which the word “wireframe” originally came, after all—frames, made of, well, wire.

Now I understand why older folk face-palm when younger folk suddenly discover that the world existed a while ago and has a history. But then, I suppose I qualify as “older folk” now, so I guess it’s my turn to do it.

I was wondering why the other one only had 2 comments...

You didn't know this existed outside of the 3D modeling world? You didn't know about wire frame sculptures, Seth? That's silly. :P

It looks pretty good though for the skeleton. Now it needs a body over it.
