Artix has released a new gem matching pony battle game. I can defensively see losing a few hours to this one. Confound these leveling systems and cute ponies!

And I think that we are battling other player's ponies as AIs right now... it would explain why I haven't seen one I can battle above level 4 either.
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they _just_ put this game out, and they haven't even made stuff higher than level 4 yet, and are frantically getting it finished as we speak.
This game was only released yesterday, on Sept. 2nd, so it's still in early stages of development. Level cap is 5 so they made getting there pretty tough.
you're not battling others in real time, it's all AI based at the moment, it's pretty easy until updates come along which will increase the difficulty.
@bobmortar When you get a certain number of candy orbs, you do a special attack based on what pet you have. The butterflies are defense, opponent's attacks will reduce your butterfly count, and if it's zero then you take damage from the attack.
After I reloaded the page to see the friend requests (thanks to all who sent them, all were accepted), the game seems to also turn things up a notch in the difficulty also. Still easily winnable, but at least I can't mess around anymore.
Also, anypony know what the whole cupcake thing is about? Does the level and/or type mean anything, or is that not yet in the game?
To be honest, I feel this game is everything FiM isn't. This isn't clever, or charming or funny. It just feels like a bad attempt to cash in on MLP without copyright issues. And Biogems Will always be my favourite gem matching game (now if only they added multiplayer...)

I don't think that the AI is that bad, there is something wrong with the game. After a few battles the game slows down. The first battle CAN get a little bit harder, and after that the AI isn't doing anything. The paperbag pony is unbeatable for me when I fight him at first. (just tried him again, he beat me after 20 secs.
Hate to correct you Seth, but Rolith, not Artix, is the one who worked on the game. In fact, Artix himself is an anti-brony. Hi guys, this is Alina from Artix Entertainment. We made PvP because Rolith, Yergen, and Jemini (the PvP team) are all brines, and we wanted to give our pony-loving players a game they could enjoy! We know there are bugs and we will fix them as soon as we get back from DragonCon. (We launched the game from our hotel room last night while Artix was away playing cards with some player.) The level cap will raise once the game officially goes live next week. Pets will gain more skills and many more shops, bosses, and pony accessories will be added next week! If the game is week-received, it will receive updates in the future from time to time. We are SO excited that the game was mentioned on the site and that some of you are enjoying it. Also, the AI reflects your own skill level in the game. As you and you opponents get better and faster, so will the AI.
Yeah, I know Artix Entertainment pretty well. The high exp required to move beyond 4 is their way of keeping you in their current comfort zone while they are making content.
You might get to level 5, but nothing will be there for you except maybe a boss fight for now.
Anyway, I really hope they up the difficulty level. Otherwise I'ma get too bored. Still, Little Lady Sunshine is lookin' sexy in her Red Cheerleader Outfit and stockings w/shoes.
I tried the site that M00F linked. Very hard is too easy though, and impossible is actually impossible (computer literally jumps up to warp speed). It needs more granular difficulty levels.
Got a +16 combo at one point (which was glorious) and tried out the koala pet, which apparently owns people with a laser blast ;)
Okay, this confirms that if they made a Pony puzzle game for some handheld system with and a story mode for each pony, I would throw money at my closest game retailer.
Little Huggable Marshmallow Rarity Clone is kind of adorable. If only she didn't have Vinyl Scratches smirk. Maybe I should invest in a new mouth.
As a side note, the battle music is really addictingly catchy.
Was fun until level 4, then the EXP req leaped. Also, I'm a little put off if its true...Can you only fight 50 times before having to pay to continue? If so, screw that game. :(
Not sure if everyone knows, but there is a flaw with the program that makes it slow down to a crawl if you play many consecutive battles. Simply reloading, and relogging in clears it up for a bit.
@DeRockProject i think attack 20% is just a reference to the show. the blue orbs are candy, which if you get enough of your pet will attack. I think sparkle gems are random, i have no iddea what the cupcakes do, requesting to be a friend.
A) Dunno. Leveling up sooner does give you earlier access to shops, though.
B) Dunno about the pets. Maybe they do different damage. When you chain blue orbs, they may attack based on their attack % (I think).
C) As you win battles, you cupcake level rises. Dunno the advantages and disadvantages of having a certain cupcake levels, though. I would think that having a high level would make you a better target for more XP.
D) I'm going for high level, high cupcake level opponents. I'd think they would give you higher XP and more sparkle gems.
E) Maybe the level and cupcake level of your opponent. Otherwise, it's random.
These are all educated guesses right now based of my experiences of the game, which has totaled a few hours today.

The AI is LOW because you just STARTED , as your "cupcake lvl" goes up, so does your enemy AI, so far the highest is marshmallow lvl.
On another note if you do register, you create an account for all the other AE games :D

Fun concept, but the game is very bare-bones at the moment. The AI is really easy, it never hits me enough to drain my health bar.
The developer clearly follows FiM fan art. You can dress your pony in maid costumes and socks, which is awesome.
well already finished all 50 SG matches and level 5 not even close, 150/640 xp :)
