It really does seem like this is an actual threat. Rainbow Dash during the best young flyers competition... Twilight when Philamena is taken... Maybe the benevolent leader really does have a dark side?

    5. Exactly, just think how quiet, sweet, little Fluttershy changed when things weren't going her way...

    6. Haha that's a clever one, don't know why I didn't think of that during that scene.

    10. Has anyone done the requisite Regular Show/Trollestia mash-up? "A bunch of baby ducks, send em to the moon. My bratty little sister, send her to the moon."

    21. Yo Dawg, I heard you banished Nightmare Moon to the moon for a thousand years, so we put a prison where you banish so you can imprison while you banish.

    22. So somebody is going to do a Tyrant Trollestia?

In the episode she says "Where on earth would you get such an idea?"... so, yeah.

    24. Actually, just the other day I was noodling around with something I might turn into a fic at some point that's kind of on this topic. Celestia is a millennium-old (at least) immortal with vast power at her disposal. Even without going into Tyrant Celestia territory, to steal a line from Narnia, she's good, but she's not safe.

Even after knowing her well for a decade or more, Twilight is often uncertain how she'll react. I think Twi's seen enough to know that she'll never really understand the princess's mind.

Earth can mean "ground". Where on earth, as in "where in the known expanse of solid ground".

    26. ...or,Y'know, Maybe Trollestia and Luna's magical battle accidentally ponyfied all mankind, and that IS the earth.(insert planet of the apes ending rip-off)
