This was technically in the simple PMV folder, but I think it does a bit more than that. No one has really shown Twilight's growth with such impact. From our perspective as a fandom, we've only seen a very small fraction of her life, and only her Ponyville years at that.
She spent every waking moment trying to improve herself and reach the same level as Celestia in magic proficiency. This was shown pretty clearly in The Cutie Mark Chronicles, when she first views the raising of the sun. If glimpses at her past were any indication, pre-ponyville years were completely dominated by study and advancement in her attempts at reaching that level. She just needed that extra push of social skills to hit the alicorn level. I'd assume a princess would need to be able to attend to her subjects without pulling up a manual. Maybe that is the real reason for friendship being the final requirement?
Anyway, get the video below the break!

We were nearing the end of season one at this point, and the fandom was about to hit it's first big pony haitus. The next episode was going to focus completely on Pinkie Pie, and many were looking for something different after her journey into the controversial. Would Party of One Deliver? You bet it did.
At this point, each of the main ponies had their own personal mental issues, with Twilight Sparkle lacking social skills, Applejack being stubborn, Rainbow Dash glowing in narcissism, Fluttershy failing at confidence and Rarity breaking down and going full on crazy cat lady. Pinkie Pie was still an enigma though. It was time to shatter this character and show off a side of her that only the darkest fanfiction explored, and holy ponies if Meghan McCarthy didn't go all the way. Our favorite happy go lucky party horse went full on creepymode.
Needless to say, Meghan ended up with a reputation for writing ponies losing their minds by season 2. This style really did help give them a load of extra character though. They all had flaws, which made them much more relate-able.
Anyway, get some Party of One below the break!

Got to say between regular updates of Fluffle Puff, Twily Daily, and Twilight's First Day I'm pretty much guaranteed to be dying from cute most days of the week. So why not take revenge against your pancreas for plotting with your liver against you and take a watch after the break!
We've also got some Tiarawhy animations for you today too based on the new Pokemon games! Don't worry, they're pretty tame.

There wasn't a whole lot revealed about it, but at the NYCC IDW panel, the next series title was revealed to be "Friends Forever". The exact quote:
"An audience member asked, what is the future of My Little Pony comics? Ryall said the series was doing fantastically, selling over a million copies, and that there would be a second ongoing series called Friends Forever."
Whether they mean second as in the second main series or another side one to replace the micro comics remains to be seen. The quote is a little vague on the details. I guess only time will tell! Thanks to Masem and James for the heads up. -

Lets get the opposite going of that post from yesterday and highlight some favorite aspects of the pony fandom! It has been about a year since we last did anything similar to this, so I'm sure some of you have changed up over time. I know I have.
Hit those comments up with your thoughts on what keeps you coming back for more! -
Bear with us, Sparkle.
Yesterday, we posted two interviews with Amy Keating Rogers and M.A. Larson entailing their writing backgrounds and some behind-the-scenes looks at their approaches to "The Best Night Ever" and "Luna Eclipsed", respectively. Some of you may have heard of the Pony Fiction Vault before that. For those who haven't: it opened in November 2011 and serves as a spotlight blog for the better stories the pony fanfiction community has produced over the years. In addition to presenting interviews with the authors of said stories, it also provides e-book downloads of those stories in a variety of formats to take on the go.
As of yesterday, the PFV made its final post.
In preparing for its closure, a handful of Equestria Daily pre-readers teamed up with a couple of community authors to continue highlighting meritorious stories written by the fandom. The Royal Canterlot Library is the product of their endeavors, and their first feature is live right now! New features will be released once every week on Saturdays.
If you're new to the fanfiction scene, or want even finer QA than what Equestria Daily provides, both the Pony Fiction Vault and the Royal Canterlot Library should be more than deep enough for diving in and getting your hooves wet. Wordplay. Go check 'em both out! -
