Well everyone, here we are again! It has been another year and with the start of another summer, that means it is time for another Newbie Artist Training Grounds! A tradition that is almost as old as this website itself, today we welcome all the new artists (and old alike) that will be embarking on this journey together as they strive to accomplish one amazing task: the creation of art.
As I have mentioned in the past, this is my favorite time of year as I get to see a new class of NATG artists learn and grow together, including those from past NATGs who come back each year to practice and show the younger ones how they have improved over the years. This year I expect to see the same though the circumstances of our times make things a bit more unique than usual. With the pandemic keeping most of us inside for extended periods we have an opportunity to better ourselves in ways we might not get again in our lifetimes. While that betterment can mean different things to different people, certainly one of those ways to better one's self is to draw, especially if you have been meaning to all this time.
Don't let the opportunity pass you by, come join us for the tenth anniversary of the Newbie Artist Training Grounds!
Of course, before we begin, I want to give a big shoutout to Phoe who started the NATG way back when and took me on as a helper back when the event was young. Without her, the NATG would more than likely have never been or, at least, not in the same form we see today. Go give her a visit and some love at the link above!
Now, without further ado, onto the very first prompt for the NATG (a familiar one for those of you watching after all these years): Draw a pony standing / Draw a pony stuck in time.
You can find the compiler you'll be submitting your drawings to here! If you need some tips on drawing, check out our Tutorial Codex for hints and tips!
Now, as this is our first NATG post for this year, check after the break for all the details you need for this event, including how to submit, some commonly asked questions, our schedule and more!
Important Details:
Animations do not animate when sent through the compiler! Include some text with your submitted animation that people should follow your links to the source to see the animation in full.
If you are late submitting and the submitter is closed, don't just throw your pic into the next day's submitter. Wait for a Makeup Day to submit!
