On the one hand I see the logic with releasing a Valentines Day Special the week before the holiday. It guarntees the comic will be available when the joyous day arrives.
On the other hand... next Wednesday is Valentines Day.

Source How much time on any given day/week do you spend consuming pony content or interacting with the fandom in some way?I perhaps spend a little too much time x_x. On any given day I am interacting with pony discord servers (mostly ours) for 6+ hours (often more. a lot more). It's not always direct interaction, but it's always open on my second monitor so I can see what is going on and drop in at any point. I should buy a third monitor just for Discord at this point :P. I also will from time to time watch pony videos/music on YouTube, and every couple of days I try to make a discussion here.What about you? Discuss Below.
