• Newbie Artist Training Grounds XIV: Day 1

Hard to believe yet another year has passed us by as we now enter into another summer and yet another Newbie Artist Training Grounds. Not only is it my favorite event of the year, but one of Equestria Daily's longest running events. Plus, it is nice to post more than just the nightly and morning discussions, heh. I'm super excited as I am every year to see new and old faces take part in this month long event and I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Of course, the NATG would not be here without a very important person. I want to give a big shoutout to the founder of the NATG, Phoe, who started the NATG way back when and took me on as a helper back when the event was young. The NATG would likely have never been or, at least, not in the same form we see today without her inspiration and diligence. Go give her a visit and some love at the link above!

Now, without further ado, onto the very first prompt for the NATG, an oldie we start every new training grounds with: Draw a pony standing / Draw a pony holding its ground.

You can find the compiler you'll be submitting your drawings to here! If you need some tips on drawing, check out our Tutorial Codex for hints and tips!

Now, as this is our first NATG post for this year, check after the break for all the details you need for this event, including how to submit (for computer and mobile), some commonly asked questions, our schedule and more!

If the guide after the break is too confusing or not detailed enough, we have a guide written up by a past NATG participant, Lorewolf, covering in detail how to host your pictures, how to best take photos of art on paper, how to submit and more. You can find the guide here!

    Important Details:

Animations do not animate when sent through the compiler! Include some text with your submitted animation that people should follow your links to the source to see the animation in full.

If you are late submitting and the submitter is closed, don't just throw your pic into the next day's submitter. Wait for a Makeup Day to submit!

Max Image Upload Size is 4mb per pic!

  • Discussion: Could AI Ever Be Used Fairly in Official Content Creation?

There's been a lot of drama in the fandom with AI lately.  I know you've been hearing about it a decent amount on this blog, so I'm sorry for that if you are tired of it.  I've got a different kind of question to ask about it today though.  How would you feel if Hasbro decided they were going to make a G6 in the future, but it would lean heavily on AI for its creation (ignoring any SAG-AFTRA implications here)?  What if they were completely transparent about all of it and never lied about how it was used in any way?  What would have to be done to make it ethical, if anything even could be done in your opinion?

  • NO AI for Tell Your Tale or Make Your Mark Confirmed from Hasbro!

Well, there you have it. Hasbro has offically confirmed that no AI has been used at all in either of the G5 projects, including Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale. The rumors are finally squashed.

Yes - we realized we hit 'Reply' too soon on our earlier post! (Is it the weekend yet?😵‍💫) To clarify: neither Make Your Mark NOR Tell Your Tale have ever used AI-generated audio or visuals at any stage of production. - Hasbro

What a wild ride that one was. I'm glad we can put it all to rest though!

  • Hasbro Confirms Stance on Not Using AI For Make Your Mark

We now have irrefutable confirmation that AI was never planned for Make Your Mark. We already debunked the French VA who was found to have received false information from a fake Hasbro employee, but Hasbro themselves have dropped a rare response off and wiped out any possible rumors entirely with the twitter message above. I'll quote it here too:

The #MyLittlePony ‘Make Your Mark’ series has never used AI-generated audio or visuals at any stage of its production. We’re proud of our artists and actors who played a role in creating magical experiences that brought our characters to life and connected fans across the world. - Hasbo

I've asked for confirmation on Tell Your Tale season 2's dubs since people have been speculating that those are AI for weeks now, but on the Make Your Mark front at least, you can rest easy.
