• Nightly Roundup #744

Wind Waker ponies return as I try to subtly convince Seth he should play it again. Give in...

We've got a lot more news this time around guys so dive right in after the break!

  • Music of the Day #162

Let night music for late night batponies.  We have 9 in this one.  Get them all below.

  • PMV/Typography: Trixie's Good Side Lyrics (Typography) / The Standard Model (PMV)

Trying to typography one of these oldschool Pinkie Pie Swear songs is a challenge to say the least.  The header up there is usually my response to what exactly they were about, even if I had them on repeat for months.  Have that in the first slot, and  in the second slot, SCIENCE.  Get them both below.

1.) PinkiePieSwear - Trixie's Good Side Lyrics (Typography)
    2.) The Standard Model (PMV)

  • Love is in Bloom - Ponyphonic

We have an awesome remake of Love is in Bloom for you all tonight from Ponyphonic.  If you liked their other stuff, you know what to expect.  Head on down below the break to check it out!

  • Artist Spotlight: Karpetshark / Cappydarn / CrispyChris

It's been awhile, but it is time once again for an artist spotlight everyone! Considering that the ATG is going on right now this feature seems to be a great companion to go alongside it, don't you think? Thank you all for sending in so many artists for me to look through! It has been a pleasure getting to known so many new people out there in the art community.

As for submitting new artists to me I am making a small change. Some artists make comics from time to time though they don't count it as their primary art form, but these comics tend to get over 500 favorites as they usually end up on EqD. So, if an artist is known more for their stand alone pieces instead of their comics don't be afraid to send them in even if they have a couple comics over 500 faves (like Karpetshark above).

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-4 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Those with below 500 faves on their most popular pony picture on dA or similar gallery (Furaffinity, ect) will take priority consideration in posts, but those who have above this number are still welcome to submit or have their fans submit.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.
    Now on to the artists!

  • Groovin Hooves Set on Hasbro Toy Shop

If you are one of the many people having trouble tracking this set down in your area, the Hasbro Toy Shop has tossed these three up over here.  Octavia is the main selling point there, with Lyra using a blindbag model.  Hopefully she gets some separate form love soon!

Thanks to Jerel for the heads up.
  • Snips Appears on Taobao

A Snips blindbag style pony has popped up on Taobao.  Without the tattoos that seem to be a trend in the next main set, I'm guessing this is part of one of those 3 pack collector boxes.  Hopefully we finally get some Trixie in that form, with a cape and hat!

Thanks to Candygram for the image.
  • (Rumor) Future Funko Figure Info Via Hot Topic PM

There isn't anywhere to link to specifically for this, so for now, I'm running with a rumor tag.  Someone going by the name of Jeremy had a back and forth with the Hot Topic Facebook page via PM.  Some neat little tidbits of information were gleaned from the staffer workin on the message box:
    • Applejack expected next year with Big Mac.
    • Applejack will have her hat.
    • The next two ponies are considered roommates (Octavia and Vinyl maybe?).
    • Out of Luna, Trixie, the CMC, and AJ, two are coming soon.
    • Discord has been in the talks, but his price will be higher due to his larger size.
    • Next Hot Topic ponies expected in November.
    • Trixie Early next year.

Again though, these aren't plastered on the front page yet, and if Build-A-Bear is any indication, what an employee says one day may change completely the day after.  Only an official announcement can be guaranteed 100%.  Regardless, none of these are far fetched at all. Hopefully we will see all of these characters soon! I'm honestly surprised Luna is taking so long.

  • Story: Snow and Shadows (Update Sequel Part 20!)

    [Adventure] [Dark]

    Author: The 24th Pegasus
Description: It has been twenty years since the fall of the Cirran Empire, and Commander Hurricane has led the pegasus pony tribe into a comfortable role in accordance with the Tri-Pony Compact. But a supernatural blizzard without end brings forth the suppressed hatreds that have festered among the three tribes, and the resulting famine threatens to eradicate all; earth pony, unicorn, and pegasus alike. With a bloody war looming on the horizon and the fate of their ponies at stake, the three tribes must find a way to survive together, or they will assuredly die alone.

Sequel to "Of Skies Long Forgotten." Reading of that story is not absolutely necessary to understand what is going on, but it is strongly recommended for you to get the references.

  • Japan Time - Over a Barrel

AAAAAAAAAAAAPLEOOOOOOOOOSA!  There was a saying regarding Braeburn that I never really bought into, but I know loads of people that did.   Now have him in Japanese.

Episode begins in 10 minutes, which is 3:30 PM Pacific or 7:30 AM JAPAN TIME.

Head on down below for it as always.

  • Weird Pony Game Slips Into Xbox Live Arcade Indie Section

It looks like one of those indie devs decided to jump on the pony bandwagon for fun over on Xbox Live.  A new game called "Ermahgerd ponies!" has popped up for sale. So far it looks like the reviews aren't too favorable, and it's obviously not official, but there are definitely some similarities to the ponies we are used to.

You can find it over here.

Thanks to Slate for the heads up.
  • Discussion: Which Piece of History Do You Want to See Explained?

For whatever reason, history always seems to beat out everything else in polls.  Quite a few unexplained mysteries surround Equestria, and only hints of each have popped up throughout the last three seasons.   The question is, what piece are you most looking forward to being explained?

Example:  Right now, we really don't know much about Discord other than his love of all things chaos.  There seems to be some pretty big history between him and the royalty of Equestria.  That statue garden in his episode may have hinted at some old timey Equestrian heroes that "vanquished" him.

Or maybe a Starswirl the Bearded episode?

Hit the comments up with your wishes for history revealing!
  • MandoPony's Charity Gaming Stream for ASPCA

See Fluttershy up there? She loves animals.  Know what makes Fluttershy sad? Animals without any support. Do you want to make Fluttershy sad? I think not.  Only a monster would want that.

MandoPony is running a crowd donation campaign to raise money for ASPCA today with a goal of just $1,000.   He is promising no sleep at all until he hits the goal, with non-stop classic video games until he does.

On top of this, both Andrea Libman and FiM Storyboarder Sibsy will be showing up, so even if you aren't a fan of brony music, do it for the show staff!

Head on over here to check it out and donate! Stream starts now and goes until the goal is reached!

Thanks to Candygram for the heads up.

  • Story: Flashes on the Horizon

[Normal] "The most fascinated I've ever been to watch nothing particularly exciting happen." - Prereader [derp]

    Author: Goblin Scribe
Description: Something's happening. Cheerilee isn't sure what. All she knows is what she saw, and that's not much to go on—no more than a glint of flame on the dark horizon. Whatever it is, it's very far away.

The moon is high in the sky, but she doesn't plan on sleeping tonight. Instead, she will take her telescope, sit by the lake, and wait. Perhaps she will see more.
