Considering we are all probably going to spend the next year with masks, it's no surprise that this sort of thing might become a new fashion trend. In true fandom style, pony face masks are already in production, with a release some time in the future. They will be available for pre-order starting this Saturday over at Tech Cutie's site, with Twilight Sparkle starting it off.
