• NYCC Coverage Day 2: IDW Publishing: 20 Years & Beyond Live Blog!


    Happy Friday everyone!

    Hope you all had a good evening last night and are raring to go for new NYCC branded fun!\

    For today's coverage, Equestria Daily will be live blogging IDW's 20 Years & Beyond panel. This is the biggest panel IDW has for the convention. So if there is going to be news, we'll find it here.

    At least I hope so. We'll just have to wait and see. Which you'll be able to check out for yourself as it happens after the break!

    Comic focused on is a new series called Wellington due out in December 2019.

    From creators Aaron Mahnke, Delilah Dawson, Piotr Kowalski, Brad Simpson. It's creating a historical horror fiction around the Duke of Wellington.

    Brief plug for Star Pig by Delilah Dawson and Francesco Gaston (with covers by Sara Richard).

    Full disclosure, I love this series. It's a ton of fun as a love song to the 90s.

    Now discussing the runaway smash hit mini-series Canto. This is a fun series which literally explores the idea of what happens when your time is up.

    BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Canto II has been announced for Summer of 2020. In addition there will be a one shot Canto comic (titled Canto and the Clockwork Fairies) set between Canto and Canto II.

    New creative own series Bermuda by John Layman and Nick Bradshaw has been announced. It's a world of mismatched time coming in April 2020.

    Panel has moved onto TMNT. Bobby Curnow is talking about the details for road to 100. Cover for TMNT issue #100 debuts this panel. It is by Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman, Dave Wachter Mateus Santolouco.

    Both issues 99 and 100 are double sized issues priced at $7.99 and will cover the end of the City at War arc.

    With issue 101 Sophie Cambell will take over primary writing duties for the series.

    There will be a deluxe Hardcover edition of issue #100  coming in January 2020! It will feature the issue 100 cover gallery.

    Now onto G.I. Joe by Paul Allor and Chris Evenhuis. Inspired by a program in WWII in great Britain where ordinary people were trained to  undermind the Nazis as civilains.

    THis is something that hasn't been seen before in G.I. Joe, and it shows in the first issue allow.

    Transformers Issue 13 starts a Bold New Era in the comics!

    This story starts with the first murder of a transformer in recent cybertronian memory.

    Transformers Galaxies #5 is a one shot focusing on Cliff Jumper.

    Transformers Galaxies #7 is by Sam Maggs and Umi Miyago. Galaxies 10 will be an Ultra Magnus STory and will release in June 2020.

    Star Trek Picard Countdown written by Kristen Beyer & Mike Johnson with art by...

    Angel Hernandez! Announced today Angel Hernandez is the artist on Star Trek Picard Countdown!

    Glow vs the Babyface is a continuation of IDW's previous Glow series and is based off of the hit Netflix series.

    Cosmokights is on sale at the IDW Publishing booth as an advanced release. On sale in the direct market on October 22nd. The premise of this series sound absolutely fantastic!

    My Little Pony Season 10 has been announced for the IDW Comics!!! Additional details can be found here.

    Sonic and Usagi Yojimbo Halloween Comic fest comics announced.

    The panel has started to go into the Beauty of Horror adult coloring books by Alan Robert and has announced there will be a Kickstarter campaign to create a Tarot Card Set. Kickstarter launches on October 22nd.

    Delving into the next Locke & Key comic: Locke & Key: Dog Days by Joe Hill, Gabriel Rodriguez, and Jay Fotos. This is an exploration of the story of the Lockes in the Golden Age. Three more stories to close out the golden age. First is Dog Days. The next one will be set in WWI.

    The final story will be a couple of issues long. Tagline is "Sometimes the stuff of ages can lead you to hell."

    After the golden age is finished, the team will delve into a new long arc like the original series staring the original cast!

    Joe Hill's new comic Dying is Easy wraps up the panel. The series is about an ex-cop who becomes a stand up comedian.
