Equestria LA is pleased to announce 2 great elements of our 2017 programming: the Women in Animation panel and the When I Grow Up series. Each of these events is intended to provide positive role models for not only young girls, but anyone with a dream for their future.

The Women in Animation panel enables us to welcome back My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic creator Lauren Faust in her only scheduled general audience appearance at Equestria LA. (Tickets to the Brony Thank You Fund scholarship fundraiser event featuring Ms. Faust can be purchased when you register for your badge.) CalArts Animation faculty member Erica Larsen-Dockray is likewise among our confirmed guests for this special panel. You can read about Ms. Larsen-Dockray's many accomplishments and projects here. Other exciting guest panelists will be announced as time goes on. The Women in Animation panel, moderated by Equestria LA's own art team member and freelance animator Ashley Nichols, will allow attendees to gain insight on the ups and downs of the unique careers of our panelists. We hope it will inspire a new generation to tackle the challenges of the animation industry!

The When I Grow Up speaker series consists of several short "career day" type talks in our Children's Programming room. Speakers will include both EQLA Guests of Honor as well as female professionals from our community. Our first confirmed participant is CalArts faculty member and Inner-City Arts High School instructor Erica Larsen-Dockray. The goal for this series is to show children, and especially young girls, that the world is their oyster and they can do and be anything when they "grow up".
