• Artist Spotlight: DarkFlame75 / TheDoggyGal / Alexis25 / CarlightCarl / Madacon

Heya gang, I can't believe it has been about a month since the last Artist Spotlight! I apologize for that, with the finale and going on vacation for two weeks it sort of went by the wayside. Now hopefully I can get these back on a somewhat regular schedule!

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-5 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.
    Now on to the artists!

    DarkFlame75

Our first artist up today is a personal favorite of mine, particularly due to not only his skill, but his subject matter as well. DarkFlame does cover the usual pony artwork, but his work on Scootabat is the most intriguing and has made it a character all his own (which he tells the story of on his tumblr). His artwork is dynamically colored, using brightness and shadows to his advantage to really bring the mood out of a picture and is skilled at bordered as well as borderless artwork (not to mention that he's done some animation as well)! Take a look!

    TheDoggyGal

Our next artist is not only a skilled pony artist, but excels at drawing a number of characters from shows and video games. DoggyGal's work is usually quite light and happy, with bright colors mixed with either sweetness, humor, or both along with a cartoony style that gives her ponies a huggable warmth. Certainly give her a look if you need a cute pony fix or if you're looking for a wide variety of art that isn't necessarily pony.

    Alexis25

Our next artist is still a relative newcomer to the pony scene and they are still getting their style down, but what they have created so far does show a lot of promise! Alexis may be a digital artist, but through her clever use of filters and drawing technique she is able to make her work look surprisingly traditional. Go give her some love!

    CarligerCarl

I love crisp, clean digital art as much as I love painted style digital and when you combine both types together in the same gallery you get one happy Calpony. Specializing mainly in cute artwork, what really sets Carl apart is the level of detail, coloring, and lighting in each pic that he makes.

    Madacon

Our last artist for today heavily utilizes bright colors and slightly stylized ponies to great effect, giving each and every picture a very vibrant feeling. If you're looking for our cute, pastel ponies at their most colorful then look no further than Madacon!
