• Nightly Roundup #790

Cal is rather sleepy tonight so I grabbed the first pic that came too mind. I really need to watch some Gravity Falls sometime, it sounds like a wonderful show! I'll pick a header you guys want tomorrow, I promise.

On to the news which is really full of podcasts, meetups, and that sort of stuff tonight.

    Tonight's Stories

    NaNoWriMo Starts Soon

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) starts November 1st, and is a month long challenge to write 50,000 words in one month. It's like EQD's own NaPoWriMo, just with the ability to write about ANYTHING--even ponies! For some helpful words of encouragement towards meeting this goal, here's show writer Amy Keating Rogers:

    Hey Awesome NaNoWriMo Novel Writers!

Amy Keating Rogers here hopefully writing you all words of wisdom and inspiration as you venture into NaNoWriMo. First off, I hear you have to write 50,000 words. Holy guacamole, that's a lot of words, people, so pace yourselves! I recently had to write a book that had a 12,000 word count. I also had 4 weeks to write it. I ended up writing 20,000 words, cause I'm really verbose and just kept blabbing on and on. But you have a month, so divvy things up. That's what I did. Set up a word count goal for each week so that it's not so daunting. Sometimes you might do more, sometimes less. But if you have those goals, it might not be so scary.

And I'll tell you another thing, my left arm began to hurt. Not my right, just my left. Now, I'm left handed, so maybe I hit the keys especially hard with my left hand. I've typed many scripts and I've never had this happen. I was just writing so furiously fast, trying to get all the ideas out of my head before they disappeared.

Don't worry about editing until later. Just write and write and write. Spill all those ideas out. Get it out of your system. Blah!

Have confidence and go for it. Now, I've never written an actual novel. I've written many a script, chapter books, and various other things. The key thing is sticking your butt in that chair and writing. That's how it gets done. Focus and do it! I know you can!

    Be awesome, NaNoWriMo Novelists!
