• Charitable Action Mega Post

Cadance thinks that now is the perfect time to reach out and help somepony. Or maybe pop bubbles. It's definitely one or the other. Or maybe both! But while you'll have to supply your own bubbles, the brony community has no shortage of charitable causes for you to support right now. We've been getting e-mails left and right about a myriad of wonderful drives and donations, and I'm assembling them all into this post for your perusal. Check below the page break and take a look. I hope you'll find a worthy cause for yourself within.

First and foremost, there's a new set of auctions currently running to support Kiki's fund. As you may recall, Kiki is a little girl near and dear to Tara Strong's heart who is currently fighting against a potentially lethal brain tumor. Her family has been desperately struggling to find help for her even after her physician pronounced Kiki as terminal. The results of the alternative treatments have been very very promising, but still ongoing and still quite expensive.

Tara has signed a huge amount of swag, which you can find on eBay right now. The auctions are going to end in a little less than a day, so check them out now. You've got a chance to pick up some cool stuff, a Twilightlicious autograph, and every cent you spend will go toward helping a little girl continue to see the sun rise each day so she can find her smile again. I don't think there's anything else that needs be said.

Secondly, we have an update for Bronies for Good's Brony Bazaar, the online/offline auction raising money to buy an oxygen machine for a woman with a terrible condition that makes it almost impossible to breathe without assistance. They've reached their original goal of $1500, but have extended several of the auction and added a few more on top of that to try and cover the full cost of the machine. Here's their writeup:

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who placed bids both online and at the Bazaar. Your support has been incredible, and as of this writing, the $1500 goal has been reached! Don’t let this hold you back from making a donation though, the goal was only for HALF of the cost of the oxygen machine, and there are still 19 days till the campaign ends. If you would still like to make a donation, please do so! Every dollar makes a difference, and we can’t thank you enough.
As it turns out however, the offline auction didn’t turn out quite as well as had been hoped. The online auctions though have soared to incredible heights, and don’t seem to be slowing down. Due to the rushed nature of the previous post, there were a few mistakes, inaccuracies, and/or things that have changed, which will be cleared up below.
First off, although it was stated that the listings would be cancelled early (11:59 PM EST on September 2nd), we have decided that they will run as normal auctions and end at the time they are scheduled to end. We apologize to those who have already bid for the change of plans, but the proceeds are going primarily to help subsidize part of the cost for the oxygen machine. So really, anymore the we can gain will help her and the rest of the family in the long run.
Secondly, whatever prizes did not sell at the Bazaar will now be listed on eBay to help cover the remainder of the costs and to cover all of the fees eBay, Paypal, and Indiegogo will be taking from the other auctions. All remaining proceeds from the listings will be donated directly to the Ponies for Oxygen fundraiser. The current eBay listings can all be found HERE in a document that groups them all together conveniently. As always, questions can be directed to broniesforgood@gmail.com.

Lastly, we have a new donation drive trying to raise money to help one Karine Coenen, perhaps better known for her goddessofthenight DA page. She does beautiful work, including several pony pieces that have been featured here at EqD over time. She also has a brain tumor and no money for the chemotherapy she needs to save her life.

Some of her friends have put together an indiegogo drive to help raise that money and cover the extraordinary costs involved with fighting cancer. This is a person who has contributed to the brony community. If you'd like to help her out in return, or just plain save a life, head on over here and give it some thought.

Thank you everyone for your time. I know money can be tight and being asked to keep giving can be a little bit draining, but if they weren't really good reasons we would never ask. This is a community that has throughout its lifetime managed some incredible things in the name of charity. Let's keep that spirit alive and continue to help out others as much as we can!
