Maybe EQD will become Super Equestria Daily in the future? Who knows!
Check out the video here, and the article here!
Update: She also has a small blurb on her Deviant Art page. Have a quote:
DC Nation begins tomorrow morning at 10 am on Cartoon Network! I really encourage everyone to check out ALL the DC Nation shorts. This program from Warner Bros. and DC offered a really great opportunity for artists, giving creators unprecedented freedom to do their own take on these classic characters. It's a refreshing creative agenda and one that really deserves support.

Huh, looks cool
ReplyDeleteProbably not gonna watch it, still cool though.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing against her new show, but I would prefer if EqD was kept pony-specific.
ReplyDeleteSuper EqD? Could be cool. And so could this. With Lauren at the helm, it definitely could have potential.
ReplyDeleteLauren Faust is always good news.
ReplyDeletewin!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be epic!
ReplyDeleteLauren could make ANYTHING awesome. I hope that this follows up on that!
ReplyDelete@MCXD
ReplyDeleteIt's not just a a article, there's also a video of Lauren Faust talking which is really rare.
I know there are others on Youtube but those are pretty grainy.
Sounds pretty good. Regal, anachronistic character that doesn't get today's lingo? Smells like Princess Luna!
ReplyDeleteI don't give a fuck what it is, Lauren Faust is spearheading it, I'll watch it.
ReplyDeleteOMYGODYESHIGHHOOF!
ReplyDeleteSuper EQD? or a sister site for the new show? Fine by me. I was an existing Laura Faust fan who came to Friendship is magic BECAUSE she was the show runner, (plus, it also involved Rob Renzetti, who developed "My Life as a Teenage Robot," which was always good but slightly flawed, not quite the show either FIM or PPG was. And of course, Amy Keating Rogers and Cindy Morrow are also PPG alum.) All that to say, of course I'm jazzed about Faust's new project!
ReplyDeleteDon't care. I think I'll be upset if EqD started covering this though.
ReplyDeleteHOLY COW that interviewer looks incredibly tense. LOWER YOUR SHOULDERS!
ReplyDeleteBring the cute! So excited.
ReplyDeleteSo are the shorts gonna play like, between Green Lantern and Young Justice? 'Cause I'm definitely watching both of those so I'll probably catch these too.
ReplyDeleteBTW, if Milky Way ever gets off the ground, will EqD cover that?
ReplyDeleteI miss lauren working on MLP. She gave us an awesome show then just left. Won't even consult Jayson with ideas for s3.
ReplyDeleteIf her other shows are as awesome as FiM i'll check em out tho! I just don't see the point in associating her with this show anymore. She doesn't even know what goes on at her studio at this point.
News like this makes me sad she walk out on us.... :(
(But good luck Lauren I guess.)
So... she's never read the comics and/or has no idea who the characters are. Good to know.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this new show is something I'll become a fan of...but then again, a few months ago, I never would have expected myself to become a fan of MLP either!
ReplyDeleteI'll totally check it out when it comes out.
I would be very happy to check out Lauren's shorts.
ReplyDeleteDid I really say that?
"I will as always bring the cute"
ReplyDeleteYou got that right!
By her interviews I get the sense she really likes action in her cartoons. I think she wanted MLP to have more action/fighting but was overruled.
I wonder what she thinks of Fighting is Magic?
@TengenFlare
ReplyDeleteDon't be that way, she didn't walk out on us. She gave us something wonderful, and then taught it to run on it's own, so we could continue to be amazed while she moved to the next, potentially wonderful thing! Yes, it's sad, but we've all got to leave the nest sometime.
I'll check it out most definitely
ReplyDeleteBeen waiting to see the other character designs for Super Best Friends Forever, and judging by that interview and the designs Batgirl is already probably gonna be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOh awesome! And it airs at 10am PST too, I'll definitely be awake to catch-OH WAIT!
ReplyDeleteCRAP!
CRAP! CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAAAAP!
Now I have to choose between this and new Fluttershy episode!
FORCES OF THE UNIVERSE WHYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!
@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, this article is fine. I was mostly posting in response to "Maybe EQD will become Super Equestria Daily in the future?"
And so, the Bronies did branch out to Cartoon Network, and it was good.
ReplyDeleteFor Almighty Faust gave unto them a new scripture, the Book of Dee See. And Lo, their lives were further enriched.
They did not forget their ponies, lest they stray from their roots.
*Future Alien Archaeologist/Preacher Mode Deactivate*
This is going to be great.
So. We'll have another fandom for this show soon. I wouldn't be surprised. A majority of the new fandom being bronies.
ReplyDeleteIf she can make My Little Pony great, who knows what she manage with something less hilariously ridiculous as a premise.
ReplyDeleteGuess I have a reason to wake up before 8 once again.
@David
ReplyDeleteCalm yourself! Schedule change, remember?
I'm looking forward to seeing these shorts! I need a closer look at all of those character designs on the board behind them in the video. I saw Poison Ivy and Grundy, but only barely.
ReplyDeleteNot thrilled by the premise, but I've seen another show she worked on which also starred three young female superheros, and it was fantastic. So I think I'm going to have to give in to my better judgment and give it a chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm find Lauren Faust's Supergirl really really hot.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not My little pony, than its a PIECE OF SHIT!
ReplyDelete@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteAre you going to fap to it like the suck fuck you are?
@Harwick
ReplyDeleteDid somepony say Grundy?
As a fan of Wolfman/Perez era Teen Titans comics, I'm glad Laurn Faust went with the Donna Troy version of Wonder Girl, 80s outfit and all.
ReplyDelete'I will always bring the cute'
ReplyDeleteI'm sold
@Flutterfan
She's pretty good, but I like her Batgirl the best she looks ultra-hyper-happy
Can't wait for it!
ReplyDeleteAnd man I'm hoping Batgirl gets Tara Strong to voice her again. Dunno if that decision has been made yet, though.
Superhero(in)es having fun? So much yes!! I hope we get some sort of heads-up for when these are airing in the DC Nation block!
ReplyDeleteThe word of Faust!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Batgirl looks really, really excited. "Yeah, I got some Batarangs! WOOHAA!"
ReplyDeleteOh nooo... I am waay too attached to pony to move on!
ReplyDelete@Blethisto That ok right? I mean she is a cartoon human, well a kryptonian, close enough.
ReplyDelete@smokeydops2
ReplyDelete"Move on"?
You can be obsessed with multiple things at once!
Huh, I hadnt seen her wonderwoman before either. I love both her and Supergirl, thier design is so... not... exploitative I guess? XD Deviations from the body type you see over and over and over?
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see this short =D
I dunno if I can trust her. She already left us once! What if she leaves this show for the next fancy new show as well!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably watch an episode or two.
@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteYou are a fuck! It's a cartoon!
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteDude, that's one of the best bumps from old CN ever.
Too bad I don't really care about superheroes much...
ReplyDelete@autobotgodzilla
ReplyDeleteIt works for people on the East Coast. For those of us on the West Coast, it conflicts.
Hey wait! I got it!
*Packs bags, buys plane ticket to New York*
Fixed!
@Kaijyuu
ReplyDeleteoh, for some, but not for me. though, if I ever live long enough to forget a lot of things, I will never forget pony!
I don't want Equestria Daily to become all things Lauren Faust. EqD is a pony fan site, not a Lauren Faust fan site.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteSee it's clips like those that make me miss 90s Cartoon Network, and realizing that Lauren Faust and others are still making great work today makes me hopeful again
@Keeria
ReplyDeleteI wasn't thrilled by the premise of a My Little Pony cartoon.
And now look at me.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to return to writing my delicious Fluttershy shipfic...
Eh, after The Dark Knight, I have a hard time going with less-than-serious superheroes and then add in the fact that Batman is the only DC character I like... sorry, Lauren, I wish you all the luck in the world, but I'm not interested at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised by some of the responses. This is going to be great, this is exactly what I love about DC. A different artist can have their own take on a character and make it awesome without effecting the official DC universe. I would like to see this covered more honestly. Lauren Faust deserves this praise and attention. Even if its not "pony specific" Id say the creator of the show starting a new project is pretty news worthy. I'm very much looking forward to DC nation. ROCK ON!
ReplyDelete@David
ReplyDeleteI'm central time, BEE-YETCH!
I personally care more baout lauren than I will ever car about all this fanfics.
ReplyDeleteYou should probably note that this Saturday does not have Super BFF scheduled.
ReplyDelete(According to the CN website)
I'll check it out, for it is on a channel I actually have.
ReplyDelete@David
ReplyDeleteCheck your cable system - perhaps you have both TOON and TOONW. If so, problem solved. If not, have fun in NY! ;)
The trailer looks awesome- huge mix of styles. Made me think of days long past when friends and I would go to animation festivals. Damn, I'm old. :(
ReplyDeleteLauren's projects> pony fanfics
ReplyDelete@Biglulu
ReplyDeleteIt's an "anything they deem awesome" site. Remember when we got a Skyrim banner for like a full week and a half?
Thankfully MLP would've bern the only thing I recorded at 10, so no conflict here. Sorry if that screwed up anyone else's schedules, though.
ReplyDeleteAlso gonna call this right now:
ReplyDeleteWonder Girl: Blossom
Batgirl: Bubbles
Supergirl: Buttercup
"Soras Teva Gee said...
ReplyDeleteYou should probably note that this Saturday does not have Super BFF scheduled."
http://fyre-flye.deviantart.com/
It says here it is this Saturday.
Wow, what a blast of superhero originality!
ReplyDeleteI forgot that DC Nation starts tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteBranching out? Dude, some of us have been animation fans for decades, and MLP was the branching out part. ;-)
Agree with the general sentiment, though. EQD probably has enough on its plate with pony.
So it's on at 10am EST?
ReplyDeleteAlmost had a "Lauren's old show goes up against her new show" storyline.
@Soras Teva Gee
ReplyDeleteFrom the picture I'd say Batgirl is more like Pinkie Pie.
@Uberjuju
ReplyDeleteI've also been an animation fan all my life. I still watch Regular Show and Adventure Time on Cartoon Network.
I also have an appreciation for the classics like Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry.
@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteDC Nation= This Saturday
Super BFF =/= This Saturday
The CN schedule has
Beware My Power: Green Lantern's Light, Part 1/Aardman #2
Young Justice Misplaced/Plastic Man
I'm still watching but as there are only 5 shorts from Mrs. Faust I believe they won't be every weekend and people shouldn't be dissapointed if they don't see one.
Lauren is clearly trying to get us all to watch the whole thing. But I planned on that as soon as I saw GL will be outer space focused (the proper course) and Young Justice was back
@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteDC Nation is airing this Saturday with two shorts, but neither of the shorts is SBFF (one is Aardman animation and the other features Plastic Man).
@Soras Teva Gee
ReplyDeleteHmm. I'd go more with this.
Batgirl = Blossom. She learned from Bruce Wayne, and will want to be in charge.
Wondergirl = Buttercup. The warrior princess. Enemysighted! Screw plan. Kill it!
Supergirl = Bubbles. Not bubbly, but less experienced with Earth than the other two.
This assumes any consistency with previous incarnations.
Oh ok, now I understand.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteMan, there are so many Looney Tune callouts in MLP that I have lost count. No surprise. I'd expect pro animators to have devoured that stuff as kids as well.
I usually see Young Justice, best DC tv series so far. But here her show is different. Next time post pony related topics, and u know she's quit the show long ago.
ReplyDeleteoh god, I can imagine all the angry DC fans because of the obnoxious side of the Brony fandom dumping ponies into their message boards and discussion rooms. Please don't be that kind of Brony.
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteSweet another Adventure Time fan!
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteWorld of Gumball is pretty good too.
@Uberjuju
ReplyDelete"As Batgirl, Barbara Gordon has always been close to Batman by proxy since her dad has always worked with the hero, and she's the biggest Bat-fan ever. She has a poster of Batman in her room and action figures of all the villains. (Some superhero-loving adults and parents in the audience may find a kindred, collecting spirit with her.)
Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, has all the same powers, backstory and home planet of Superman but none of the adoration or attention.
"If you were 16 and you were really powerful and strong, that would make you really mad," Faust says. "So I'm making Supergirl a little bit of the hothead of the bunch, which goes hand in hand with her super strength. She gets out of hand sometimes."
And Donna Troy, better known as Wonder Girl, is Wonder Woman's younger sister. She grew up on the Amazon island of Themyscira, raised as a princess and trained as a warrior in an all-female culture, so she's very regal and formal. However, although she's the oldest of the group at 17, she has been isolated from the world of man and doesn't understand it at all."
Batgirl- Fangirl and crazy happy exspression. The Bubbles of the group.
Supergirl- Angry girl with super strength, I expect plenty of punching out of Kara. The Buttercup of the group
Wonder Girl- Older ergo moderately more responsible. The Blossom or the group.
@Uberjuju
ReplyDeleteSoras Teva Gee is going from Faust's descriptions in the article, not from comics continuity. I confess to being a little surprised that Supergirl was cast in the "angry" role but I have faith in Faust.
Y'know... Normally I'd say it doesn't sound that great, but I'm sure if anyone can pull it off, it's Lauren!
ReplyDeleteLAUREN FAUST IS NOT A GOD
ReplyDeleteI have to admit to being excited. If she can make ponies this amazing, the mind boggles at what she could do with superheroes.
ReplyDelete@Blethisto
ReplyDeleteBut she is an extremely talented storyteller.
WELL, at least this gives me something to wake up in the morning for on a Saturday again. XD
ReplyDelete@Justin
ReplyDelete/)
@autobotgodzilla
I watched a few episodes of Gumball, but I found it to be a bit too nonsensical and over the top for my tastes. Also, the mixture of art styles is kind of strange for my liking.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDelete*Stares blankly at screen*
You say you like ADVENTURE TIME, the weirdest show America has produced in a long time, but Gumball is to nonsensical for you.
:I
@autobotgodzilla
ReplyDeleteAdventure Time is more consistently nonsensical, if that makes any sense. It takes place in a magical land inhabited by candy people and horrible monsters, after all.
Gumball is ultimately grounded in suburbia and school, so the weird stuff that happens seems more out of place. I don't hate it, it's just not for me.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteDifferent strokes I guess. Personally I find Gumball to be the closest thing on nowadays to 90's Nick.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteWhat time is it?
BROHOOF TIME!!!!
(\
I watched a few episodes of Gumball I love its use of multiple art styles and animation styles, so for pure technical and animation purposes I think its amazing (there's a lot of similarities to it and the works of famed troll anime studio SHAFT) as far as comedy and narrative it can be hit or miss for me but still better than most cartoons.
ReplyDelete@autobotgodzilla
ReplyDeleteGumball can be good at times, as far as animation I think its awesome in that regard
@Luna
ReplyDeleteThis.
Totally this.
@Blethisto
Stop with the cheap sarcasm and get over it
I would love her shorts, but it isn't much of a freedom when they are such a short segment sandwiched in 30 minutes. I will watch it, though I feel conflicted supporting Cartoon Network. Even with the Derpy debacle, I'd rather support anyone than Cartoon Network. There is way too much cartoon drama in that channel politics for me.
ReplyDeleteAggh I can't get to my DVR until 5:00 tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHER HOLINESS HAS SPOKEN.
ReplyDeleteI believe these shorts do have a good chance to be great with the Faust at the helm and just hope the other shorts are good as well. (Who am I kidding? It has a Teen Titans comeback. I LOVE TEEN TITANS.)
ReplyDeleteGreat scene, Lauren. I wish her the best of luck on the new show.
ReplyDeleteDoes anypony know what time zone "10 am" is for? I've heard Eastern, and I've also heard Pacific. Which is it?
ReplyDeleteFuck, I forgot, I was going to check out DC Nation, because I wanted to see the new Green Lantern series! Now I have an excuse to wake up early tomorrow morning!
ReplyDelete@GoldenSandslash15
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be airing on Cartoon Network at 10am EST (it then re-airs on TOONW at 10am PST).
Imo, Equestria Daily should be pony-specific, but if we end up wanting to cover Lauren's other stuff alternate sites would be cool. If it doesn't warrant another site, a little bit of this fine by me.
ReplyDeleteI've always been a fan of Lauren Faust's work. I expect this to be no different :)
ReplyDeleteIf this was made by anyone else, I wouldn't be interested. The characters are radically different from the ones I know from the DC Animated Universe and I'm not sure if comedy is something I want to see in my superhero cartoons. As it is made by Lauren Faust, however, I have full confidence it'll be totally awesome and worth checking out, at least.
ReplyDeleteAlso premiering on the Hub tomorrow, is this new AquaBats show I've been seeing commercials for everywhere. Looks funny, and if I had the Hub I'd check it out.
ReplyDeleteSome information about what the people behind MLP:FiM do beyond working on the show itself is fine from time to time.
ReplyDeleteIf SBFF really takes off and has a ton of brony fans I'd still rather see it handled by a seperate blog. Maybe you could organize both blogs as part of a "cartoon blog network"?
That would also allow for future additions of other shows.
@MCXD Meh The Faust commands the herd to watch it.
ReplyDeletesince I'm going to be gone tomorrow morning, this seems like a great time to test out my new DVR.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete"So, it was originally going to be like a blacksploitation kinda fake movie trailer, and now it's about Black Lightning juggling his life with two super-powered daughters." [paraphrased]
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anything bode so well for other, related shows!
No, but in all seriousness, it sounds suspiciously similar to ruining what sounded like an awesome, awesome short.
i'm just amazed the new characters haven't been ponified yet. waiting to see their behaviour/character in the show first?
ReplyDeleteIs that...Barbara Gordon?
ReplyDelete:0 I haven't seen that Batgirl in a long time.
You made Solomon Grundy a bit...silly? Not sure how I feel about that.
ReplyDeleteEnticing but the only problem for me is that DC Nation shows up at the same time as My Little Pony in my time zone. Since I don't get The Hub in HD here, DC Nation wins this round while I wait for the 1080p rip on YouTube to show up later in the day.
ReplyDeleteI dont see it on any of the listings... then again Direct Tv tend to fuck up listing s a lot
ReplyDeleteI love laurens shows, but i feel like this "Human" thing is getting old.
ReplyDeleteI think that is why my little pony cought that well.
@Blethisto Obvious troll is obvious. Have a muffin.
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting but I thought she seemed pretty nervous in the interview.
ReplyDeleteWhile I have always liked her version of my little pony, I have always wondered if "Hasbro" reigning her in might of resulted in the show we love. I hope for the best.
Looks interesting but I thought she seemed pretty nervous in the interview.
ReplyDeleteWhile I have always liked her version of my little pony, I have always wondered if "Hasbro" reigning her in might of resulted in the show we love. I hope for the best.
"If people respond well to Super Best Friends Forever, she envisions a future full of adventure with the trio." <-- Make this happen! :P
ReplyDeletePity I can't watch this over here in Germany, but I'm sure it'll be good.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's about time Amethyst got revived. It was a pretty awesome comic. Well, it was before it got all dark and angsty and junk...
ReplyDelete-sees a bunch of comments on Lauren's old show competing with her new one-
ReplyDeleteo_O You all realize that MLP got pushed back 4 hours starting this week right? 2pm EST instead of 10am EST... there is no competing there.
Or 1pm... either way, many hours difference ;)
ReplyDeleteAWESOME SAUCE
ReplyDeleteI'm equally excited for the Black Lightning short too
I sure hope CN puts these in a big ol' DVD box set
because I WILL buy this
10AM... My body can't handle waking up that early on a Sunday, so I'll probably miss it. I'll check it out on Youtube though.
ReplyDeletePlease don't combine the two series onto one site. I have no interest in SBFF and would hate to have to shuffle through the non pony junk every feaking day
ReplyDelete@Zombie
ReplyDeleteOr she could just be happy that she can feel below her waist again...
@Zombie
ReplyDeleteOr she could just be happy that she can feel below her waist again...
No thank you
ReplyDeleteI hate DC
I like Marvel
Please leave this site as the way it is
Is there anyway to watch the DC Nation Shorts online? I dont get Cartoon Network :(
ReplyDeleteDid it ever actually air? I recorded it and fast-forwarded through, but all I saw was the Plastic Man one and some claymation superhero one
ReplyDeleteI'm a Brony, a fan of animation AND a genuine fan of Lauren Faust's work, so I will definitely be watching. It's sad that after acting like fools to put her on a pedestal a lot of Bronies really don't care about Lauren's work outside of pony, and i hope that she never got the impression that all those fake fans actually appreciated her as an artist when so much of their love was really just for the pony fandom.
ReplyDelete
