A bit more information was given out in the March press release on The Hub's March 2012 Discovery Highlights page. Saying anything about it will ruin it though! You can find the synopsis after the break.
I also tossed the pdf up on Google Docs for those that don't feel like downloading it!
And the synopsis for the people out there that love spoilers:
(New episode: 1-1:30 p.m.)
In the new episode “Dragon Quest,” Spike goes on a journey of self-discovery by joining the “Great
Dragon Migration.” But does a rough and tumble gang of teenage dragons really hold the key to the
questions Spike has about his identity? Rating: TV-Y
Teenage dragons? Spike was pretty ugly when he was a teenager, not gonna lie!

Draco!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if want
ReplyDeleteyeaah, I didn't like the design of teen-Spike either. Maybe it's just Spike: Hope these dragons look cooler!
ReplyDeleteSo now this is Ponochio? With the smoking and the running away?
ReplyDelete@Eric Cramer
ReplyDeleteOn the island of whatsits... the donkey ears island... Yeah. That.
Thanks for the G-docs! Hmm, this episode might lead to some intresting developements... Trying to be vague is hard.
ReplyDeleteteenage dragons? cool
ReplyDeleteteenage dragons?
ReplyDeleteHOROMONES.
I'm totally ib4 fic with orgy with said teen dragons, said teen dragons appearing randomly in fics, etc.
read through guys...no new episode march 10th....
ReplyDeleteThere is an episode on March 10th. It's called It's About Time. Unless they PULLED IT?
ReplyDeleteteen-Spike was not that great to me too.
ReplyDeletehaha, I love how that's pretty much the plot of the summer reading book that I didn't read
ReplyDelete@Flutteryay
ReplyDeleteif we are, then its not listed on the doc. 3rd we have putting your hoof down...10th has nothing, then 17th has dragon quest
It is really a redux of the G1-Spike episode <_<
ReplyDeleteYou can't have a title like this and not have a reference to Toriyama's work.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this one.
ReplyDeletespike with teenage dragons don't go together
ReplyDelete15th?

ReplyDelete@Kelleth
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%.
Ok so who wants to bet the teenage dragons and make fun of spike for not having any? Then they get in trouble and spike saves them and gets wings in the process?
ReplyDelete@Kelleth
ReplyDeleteAlso: technically it's not Toriyama's work, it's Square Enix's. Toriyama did the artwork for it, but all the copyrights and whatnot belong completely to Square Enix (including the artwork itself).
just to let people who didnt read the doc know, MLP:FiM is only premiering every 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteTeenagers? Oh this won't be good.
ReplyDeleteMy reason for saying this? Highschool. Not just my personal experience, but the collective experience on what it's like.
@FMP no its not going to happen or i will give you 5 cents.
ReplyDeleteSo, a peer pressure episode.
ReplyDeleteProbably going to have something to do with "You're a dragon, you should be with other dragons, not ponies."
So Spike leaves home forever... OR DOES HE?
Is it weird that the first thing I thought of was the bullies from this?
ReplyDeletehttp://images.wikia.com/landbeforetime/images/a/a2/Original_TLBT3_video_cover.jpg
Ooooo, teenage dragons...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this episode was at all inspired by the G1 episode "Spike's Search:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxswrROljos
Of course, I'm SURE the FiM episode will be WAY better. =)
Now I'm looking more forward to this episode, can't wait for more dragon designs
ReplyDeleteTeenage dragons are probably going to underage smoke, drink, get into fights with other dragons and zebra gangs, and perform other undesirable activities.
ReplyDeleteProbably.
For those of you flipping out about "It's About Time" not being on there on the 10th: Stop it. They don't have to highlight every single episode of MLP on that month. They need to save some surprises. It's still airing.
ReplyDeleteSpike...he's going to act tough just to fit in with a bunch of dragon jocks, is he? Something tells me this episode is going to hurt, as well as perhaps be the first pony episode to not have any ponies.
ReplyDeleteDRAGON GANGS
ReplyDeleteDID I JUST READ THAT RIGHT
DRAGON
FUCKING
GANGS?
FREAKING OUT NOW
I can only hope it's an Error they will correct D=
ReplyDelete@Flutteryay The Hub/Discovery Highlights page isn't going to highlight every new episode this month for the show. I guess you can say they pick random stuff to highlight what's new for the month of March.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was adorkable as a teen
ReplyDelete@Psycho Twi The episode line up that is.
ReplyDeleteSounds like DQ will be a fun quest.
I didnt like the look of stretched out spike either hopefully they look somewhat better.
ReplyDelete@mycutiemarkisagun
ReplyDeleteThey don't mean "gang" in the literal sense of the word. They mean "gang" as in a group. You know...like the Gang Green Gang.
@Jigglysaint
ReplyDeletePerhaps also the only episode that revolves "boy" issues, too, though this show has done a food job tearing down gender stereotypes.
There's no doubt Spike's gonna learn a thing or two from this journey. Now guessing what exactly is gonna happen is always the fun part.
ReplyDeletewhat with the fire heart?
ReplyDeleteWhy is is that this sounds an awful lot like the premise of the FMA episode "Created Feelings"? (S1E9, FMA Brotherhood)
ReplyDeleteThis is kinda obligatory:
ReplyDeleteA slime draws near! Command?
Man. That plot sounds fairly epic. I hope they can effectively fit it all in a twenty-minute space!
ReplyDeleteThis is ggonna be so goood...
ReplyDeleteThese new dragons need to look 20% cooler, at least.

ReplyDeleteNobody likes Charmeleon, either. Something about mid-sized dragons just doesn't look right.
ReplyDelete@shadowfalcon76
ReplyDeleteRun away, because is not a Metal Slime.
Honestly, and I know i'm in the minority, I liked Spikes Teen Dragon Design, I look forward to seeing more Teen Dragons, and just more Dragons in general. And personally hoping that maybe just maybe spike will learn to control his own growth..still think it would be quite awesome if he were able to change size at will, be a pretty good way to help his friends next time they go up against another big bad like Discord or NMM. But yeah, looking foward to this episode.
ReplyDeleteAlso for those saying theres no new episode on March 10th? Ahh say what? Thats when Epsiode 20 "It's About Time" airs, you know..the one about Twilight...and Time Travel. Then This one (Dragon Quest) Airs March 17th, and episode 22 Hurricane Fluttershy Airs March 24th. and weather or not an episode will air on the 31st has yet to be announced but we should know this weekend.
@Eric Cramer
ReplyDeleteYou mean Pleasure Island?
Wow, this sounds almost exactly like that old MLP G1 episode. Pretty cool
ReplyDeleteTotally Agreed
ReplyDelete@Soundmonkey44 I liked his look between the first and final growth. He looked ugly and monstrous, when he was huge. :P Yeah, I'd like to see some development in a way to where he can help his friends in the future. Spike has been too quiet lately, after starting off the season strong.
ReplyDelete@One Radical Dude Glad I'm not the only one lol. But yeah hopefully this epsiode will give us some more character development for Spike and teach us more about the Dragons of Equestria in general. Wonder if they have their own little nation or island somewhere..I mean the Migration has to be going somewhere right?
ReplyDelete@Soundmonkey44 Well, it can't be just a block or two away, that's for sure! :P
ReplyDelete-=Dragon Quest=-
ReplyDeleteAfter joining The Great Dragon Migration, thinking it would be a good way to find out who I really am, it seems that the outcome was not as expected. After some consideration, I think it is best to return home to Twilight Sparkle.
------------------------------------------------
() Escape cave and make way down the mountain before dragons notice
(*) Fake Sleep until all dragons fall asleep
(*) Discover more about "Brothers"
(*) Follow dragons up mountain
(*) Head North to meet Dragons at Great Dragon Migration
(*) Sneak out of Twilight's house without being discovered
(*) Fake Sleep until Twilight Sparkle is fully asleep
(*) (Optional) Pack Scroll Paper, ink, and bird feather
(*) Pack things and hide things under bed
@Soundmonkey44
ReplyDelete"I mean the Migration has to be going somewhere right?"
Or it could be actually nowhere or anywhere specific.
Otherwise why the ponies have to deal with Dragons sleeping around Equestria?
I would say they don't have a country. They would just go around, first in groups and they get separated, then they forms groups again for mating and then repeat the cycle.
But that's just me.

ReplyDeleteSOunds like a peer pressure episode... interesting...
ReplyDeleteI really liked Spike's teenage design personally, I at least like it better than his giant size, which doesn't look bad either.
ReplyDeleteAnd an Interesting new summary for the episode, I think I have a bit of a better idea as to where this episode may be going, but I'm still ready for some surprises. I'm interested to see the designs for the teenage dragons and what they're gonna be like. I'm also looking forward to seeing how Spike develops in this episode, it would be cool to see him stand up for the ponies if the other dragons tease him about that.
Still really stoked about the episode, I know I'm gonna love it.
If Spike calls Twilight "Sister" I'll cry...
ReplyDeleteIf he calls her "Mom", I'll bawl my eyes out
Migration? Oh yes to Skyrim! LOL So Spikes joining a gang! I hope Spike ends up fighting the members of this gang. I would like to see Spike be a badass in this episode! XD
ReplyDelete@malostraza
ReplyDeleteNope, It's About Time is still scheduled to air on March 10th.
This gives a chance to sway more dragons similar to Spike into the series. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
ReplyDeleteAre they not gonna show "It's about time" on the 10th? I saw no ponies on the 10th.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting flash backs of the Third Land Before Time Movie....oh no.
ReplyDeleteAren't we breaking rules 1 and 2 by posting this synopsis?
ReplyDelete@Coolblue I love this post. I want to print it out, and propose to it.
ReplyDeleteCreepy exaggerations aside, I can't blame them for only premiering only two new episodes in March. A new episode a week is a hard pace to keep, especially when you think about the Derpy fiasco, and the steps they have to take to avoid that again.
Guys, some of you are under the impression that The Hub will premiere two new FIM, instead of at least four of them, based on what you read from The Hub/Discovery Highlights page. That's all it is -- a page highlighting some of the things that are happening during the month of March. It's not meant to show you everything that's new.
ReplyDeleteThey see him rollin
ReplyDeleteThe Dragon
He knows he is just flyin dirty...
shud uhp...its funny...
I really not hope the majority of this episode is not Spike and the other dragons.
ReplyDeleteNEEDED!!!!! >>>>> Interaction between main cast
@Penisman This pretty much sums up my feelings. Teenage characters have great potential to be incredibly annoying, especially when they're designed to be "too rough" or whatever.
ReplyDeleteTeen Spike did look pretty grim, im wondering if this gang will have an inititation for Spike to join but it will make his do sort of mean things and this is where he learns where his true "family" is back in Ponyville and that's where he belongs.
ReplyDeleteAnyway still looking forward to this episode!
teenage dragons really hold the key to the
ReplyDeletequestions Spike has about his identity?
OMG please give us Spike's parents...or at least a brother or sister if he has one.
I assume teenage dragons will try and influence Spike to smoke, hoard, and subsequently drink.
ReplyDeleteI mean, if they're anything like the teenagers I know, there's likely going to be alot of Spike saying "no".
Just say no to dragons. Good lesson!
i wonder if my fanfic will be obsolete after this episode?
ReplyDeleteThis has the potential to be a really touching episode.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the G1 spike episode...it's almost similar.
ReplyDeleteI love dragons...
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't portray all dragons as complete ass-holes.
That would be terrible D=
Sounds interesting... but wait a second.
ReplyDelete"Dragon Quest" airs two weeks from tomorrow..
Where's our extended synopsis for "It's About Time"?! Unless they're keeping it a surprise for us...
Ha!The G1 episode plot recycled!Wohoo!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAck! They say nothing about the wibbly wobbly timey wimey episode!
ReplyDelete@Stick2012
ReplyDeleteIt's like they're going wibbly wobbly timey wimey on us by not giving us new info on that episode, but on the episode that comes after it!
@EQD
ReplyDeletewell... if you ask my opinion, I will say that to be ugly when one is a teenager is very common. XD
