I'm pretty sure it's just a retune it sounds too chipmunkey to be Pinkie's singer. That being said, this is my favorite song this season. It's so girl pop like that it's catchy. Or something. I dunno.
Here you all go, Doubled version; http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5rE3PavFpvc&start1=0&video2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DnmHcj-Cg0Is&start2=0&authorName=Skruller
Pretty sure that's a retune. You can kinda hear some slight (not at all that noticable) distorion occaisionally. But yeah, really fantastic retune job on that. I also second the call for a duet!
Retune. i know this for a fact because i do similar methods for one of my voice actors in my abridged series so they sound more like Pinkie Pie. well done though.
Yeah, it's a retune. If it was Pinkies singer there would be some differences in delivery. There's a version of the opening theme sung by Shannon Chan-Kent (Pinkie Pie). Beside the obvious change in pitch you can her some differences in delivery. I'm not a music person so I hope all that makes sense.
Pink Poni is The Best Poni! - let's not wander stray from the truth.
Still, pinkiefying songs is not a good idea imo as this one is simply full of squeaking what sometimes literally hurts my ears. Get Shanon Chan Kent to sing this song and I'll start puking rainbows of joy!
@twdurgan I see what you did there... But that's not what I'm saying. I don't hate Rarity and I'm not saying that the episode was horrible (I really liked it). What I mean is that I want some other ponies episodes. Just that.
I doubled them up (and then had to screw with the timing to get it to sync up)... two things:
1. When doubled up, they sound kind of like Cindy and Maxine from En Vogue doing a duet. (Pinkie being Cindy and Rarity being Maxine).
2. The song takes on a slightly minor-key feel. It actually sounds quite sad, particularly the ending.
Also, "Pinkie" version is awesome. Too bad there's no reasonable way to make a Rainbow Dash or Twilight version (even if they'd never sing this song, for different reasons).
It wouldn't make sense for Pinkie's Singing voice actress to sing this song without it being in the show or it was not even acknowledged by the singer or hasbro or anyone else behind the show
Maybe not exactly Pinkie, but I enjoyed it. And like I keep saying, I can never decide who is my favorite. But considering that Pinkie busted out her crazy cannon yesterday, it's leaning towards her again. Though that will probably change within the next 24 hours.
I notice when Rarity sings it sounds similar Tarja Turunen from Nightwish, but I'm still kinda stuck on who has a better voice. But for this specific song I vote Rarity.
Yeah, it's definitely a re-tune. You can clearly hear the distortion and clipping. Nice job though, if it weren't for the distortion, I would've thought it was actually pinky pie.
Okay so we know for pretty much a fact now that we're never going to see a DVD or blu-ray box set... I have made peace with that... but for the love of celestia why the HELL hasn't hasbro released an official Pony CD? Lots of songs, check. Marketable to children, check. Would sell lots and lots, check.
It does sound pretty close to Pinkie, but it just doesn't seem like the kind of song she'd sing to begin with. I'm just wondering when we'll get a Pinkie episode and when the leaked song will show up because it was pretty awesome.
One thing I never understood about the show is why Tara Strong and Tabitha St. Garmin never do their own singing. Both have amazing singing voices and could easily provide the vocals for their characters (Tara sang as Princess Clara in Drawn Together and it was beautiful). Ashlegh Bell provides both Rainbow Dash and Applejack's vvoices and singing voices and Andrea Libman does Fluttershy's (She can't do Pinkie's because it strains her voice to even do Pinkie's high pitched voice in the first place so I can understand that). So why do Twilight and Rarity need seperate singing talent?
Tara Strong probably can't because she is in the US while the rest of the cast is in Canada. It'd probably be feasible for her to record her singing in a studio in the US and send it up north, but I'm assuming there's hurdles with that. I'm guessing they'd prefer to be in studio and in person with the other singers, composers, and sound engineers if they're going to record a song. Just my hypothesis since she says she gets singing lessons and has sung in many other shows previously.
Why Tabitha doesn't sing is beyond me. Has she ever in other shows?
Yipe... WHY DOES THIS FANDOM PRODUCE SO MUCH GREATNESS? Really great retune... if it isn't pinkie's voice actress, its a VERY good mimic. Color me impressed! :D
Not going based off this video but I'd have to say Rarity's vocals are a bit better. When they start getting into the higher registers, which unfortunately isn't often, Pinkie's is better. Probably because she just sings at a higher register to begin with. However, during the syllabic parts (which is most parts of the songs in the show) Rarity's voice and timbre are better.
Hum, unfortunately I can tell that's still Kazumi Evans just re-tuned. A true comparison would be if we heard Shannon Chan-Kent singing this tune. Now, that said, having heard her in Smile Smile Smile, I'm going to leave it at this:
Kazumi Evans seems to have the more "professional" voice, smooth and controlled, and this song especially did her voice justice.
Shannon Chan-Kent's voice is higher-pitched, which to me is already a great thing (I like high-pitched). It may not be as smooth and professional as Kazumi Evans, however, one can hear a lot of energy and passion behind it at all times, which is equally good.
So, pitch aside, if I had to pick a voice to perform, I'd choose Kazumi Evans for more classical and otherwise classy pieces, but I'd choose Shannon Chan-Kent for less formal music.

ReplyDeleteha now somepony need to edit them both for a duet!!
ReplyDeleteI claim this discussion in the name of Rarity.
ReplyDelete._. Pinkie, did you mess with physics again?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's just a retune it sounds too chipmunkey to be Pinkie's singer. That being said, this is my favorite song this season. It's so girl pop like that it's catchy. Or something. I dunno.
ReplyDeleteit's a retune.. I hear a shade of Rarity's posh accent :)
ReplyDeleteHere you all go, Doubled version; http://youtubedoubler.com/?video1=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5rE3PavFpvc&start1=0&video2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DnmHcj-Cg0Is&start2=0&authorName=Skruller

ReplyDeleteWow, kudos to whoever can imitate Pinkie's voice that well, with software or not!
ReplyDeletethis is great!
ReplyDeleteIn the words of TG&P Trixie, "Was there ever any doubt?"
ReplyDeleteWait. If she's so popular...WHY HASN'T SHE HAD AN EPISODE YET?! :(. Chocolate rain, chickens and party canons aren't enough!
That is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhat you don't know it that pinkie assists as a back up sing for every song, ever sung in Equestria, every single time.
ReplyDeletewhy? Because she can...
GIVE ME MORE PINKIE PIE!
ReplyDeleteIt's totally a retune, but that doesn't make it any less amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice Derpy in the song?
ReplyDeleteSounds like they've just adjusted the formant or something.
ReplyDeletesorry Rarity is better X<
ReplyDeletealso it's a retune, too high-pitched to be Pinkie's singer.
Inb4 and after "It's a retune" several dozen times. lol
ReplyDeleteIt still sounds cool though.
lol what
ReplyDelete@Xindi
ReplyDeleteIf true, it's a darned good one.
@InkBluPegasusyep in a box
ReplyDelete@Unknown
ReplyDeleteIn her halloween outfit for some reason...
Guys we know its a retune. You don't need to keep saying it.
ReplyDeleteRetune. i know this for a fact because i do similar methods for one of my voice actors in my abridged series so they sound more like Pinkie Pie. well done though.

ReplyDeleteBut it was a very well done. Good job!
We need to Pinkify every Pony song that exist!!!!
ReplyDeleteBecause singing Pinkie is best Pinkie.
PINKIE PIE EPISODE.
ReplyDeleteNOW, HASBRO! *Prepares whip* NOW!
Pink Poni is The Best Poni! - let's not wander stray from the truth.
ReplyDeleteStill, pinkiefying songs is not a good idea imo as this one is simply full of squeaking what sometimes literally hurts my ears. Get Shanon Chan Kent to sing this song and I'll start puking rainbows of joy!
It's even more eighties pop with Pinkie-style vocals. Love that song.
ReplyDeletePinkie-Pie is best pony!!!!
ReplyDeleteRarity has too many episodes in season 2. We want some other ponies episodes! Twilight (without madness ¬¬), fluttershy, pinkie...
ReplyDeleteYes, Pinkie IS famous.
ReplyDeleteArlax, she's only had TWO. Rainbow Dash had TWO. Twilight has had ONE, so she'll get another, and then hopefully the other ponies will get two.
ReplyDelete@Arlax
ReplyDeleteSo, you're basically saying, ahem...
"Out of all the worst things that could happen, this is THE. WORST. POSSIBLE.THING."
C wat I did thar?
At the beginning, it sounded just like Pinkie, but it slowly trailed off. Still, it's amazing.
ReplyDeleteI can't see the double on mobile!
ReplyDelete;_;
@twdurgan
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there... But that's not what I'm saying. I don't hate Rarity and I'm not saying that the episode was horrible (I really liked it). What I mean is that I want some other ponies episodes. Just that.
Pinkie Pie wouldn't say, "Crème de la crème."
ReplyDeleteThat's too fancy.
Pinkie Pie doesn't speak in fancy.
I doubled them up (and then had to screw with the timing to get it to sync up)... two things:
ReplyDelete1.
Also, the Pinkie version on its own makes me think of Kylie Minogue.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's not how you spell Rainbow Dash
ReplyDeleteBut the vid and vocals were really good
There were sound effects in the background occasionally, so I think it's a retune. But, yeah, a very, very good retune =O I really enjoyed it!
ReplyDelete@Latioenx
ReplyDeleteTwilight had two. The episode with Luna was a Twilight episode.
Rarity version is still better... Or should I say FABULOUS?
ReplyDeletei didnt think Rarity sounded like herself during the singing part of the episode, so Pinkie has the best vocals =P
ReplyDelete@Castlewise
ReplyDeleteIt was more a Luna's episode than Twilight.
Retune fo sho
ReplyDeleteThis looks re-tuned. I can tell from some of the pitches and from seeing quite a few re-tunes in my time.
ReplyDeleteI can tell after 10 seconds that they've just made the pitch higher.
ReplyDeleteIM CONFUS
ReplyDeleteForget a dvd box set, get us a pony concert.
ReplyDeleteIt's a re-tune, I could tell within the first 10 seconds.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't make sense for Pinkie's Singing voice actress to sing this song without it being in the show or it was not even acknowledged by the singer or hasbro or anyone else behind the show
ReplyDeletei think pinkie pie does better singing.
ReplyDeleteA nice re-tune indeed. It would be splendid if he makes some more of these.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.

ReplyDeleteOh come on Seth, can't you hear the strange glitchy noises that confirms that this is a retune?
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome if Shannon Chan-Kent did sing this just for a reply though...
@InkBluPegasus Yeah. Not Chuck Testa.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a retune
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a re-tune.
ReplyDeleteI mess with audacity too much not to know.
Pinkie Pie vs Rarity: Who is the better singer?
ReplyDeleteYou could not make this any harder
Rarity is so regal and elegant. Pinkie Pie is so enthusiastic and energetic
I CAN'T DECIDE!
OMG!!! 0o0
ReplyDeleteI love this!!!
I notice when Rarity sings it sounds similar Tarja Turunen from Nightwish, but I'm still kinda stuck on who has a better voice. But for this specific song I vote Rarity.
ReplyDeleteJust wow, that's a very good retune.
ReplyDeleteNow where is the pinkie centered episode. She is after all the best pony! :o!
Is this that leaked song I've heard so much about?
ReplyDeleteThat's one crazy retune. Sound so much like Pinkie Pie.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's definitely a re-tune. You can clearly hear the distortion and clipping. Nice job though, if it weren't for the distortion, I would've thought it was actually pinky pie.

ReplyDeleteNext up: Colt and young Filly versions.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound pretty close to Pinkie, but it just doesn't seem like the kind of song she'd sing to begin with. I'm just wondering when we'll get a Pinkie episode and when the leaked song will show up because it was pretty awesome.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think Rarity sounds better with it, but its a cool video

ReplyDeleteDefinitely a retune, but it sounds quite spot on. Nicely done, sir or madame.
ReplyDeleteI vote to PINKIE PIE ALL THE SONGS!
ReplyDeletePinkie is #1 in my book. ^_^
It sound like a rarity re-tune :(
ReplyDeletecompare the vocals with corridors of cupcakes and you'll see it sounds different to pinkie's voice just slightly.
Lol, Rarity die-hard fans have to come in defense of her. Pinkie is the queen of this party, bitches.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Sweetie Belle version!
ReplyDelete(In all seriousness, though, this was an excellent re-tune, but I think I like the original version just a smidge more.)
@Viridian
ReplyDeleteSweetie Belle version only if she sings like she did in Stare Master.
Not going based off this video but I'd have to say Rarity's vocals are a bit better. When they start getting into the higher registers, which unfortunately isn't often, Pinkie's is better. @Laeko Randalis
ReplyDeleteIronic, considering Shannon Chan-Kent is an opera singer.
