This fandom never ceases to amaze me. There are so many pony apps popping up, we really do cover pretty much every skillset out there. No platform is too complicated!
This is a new desktop pony app for Android. It is suggested that you don't exceed more than 6 at a time (Phones don't like too many ponies running around). Simply visit this page on your android device to install it for free, then download the actual ponies within the app. Once you finish that off, hit up your "Settings / Personalization / Wallpaper / Live wallpaper" section on the phone to cover your home screen in ponies.

Wake me up when it's released for iOS.
ReplyDeleteMan, now I wish my phone didn't totally /suck./
ReplyDeletedoingit!
ReplyDeleteOooh, awesome! I love the ponies on my desktop. They should be everywhere. :D
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun for a little bit but I would take it off because I prefer a long battery life.
ReplyDeleteMan, this is great. Nothing like carrying around a few adorable little friends in your pocket.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong that would be awesome, but I use my phone for work and they would kinda get distracting. Not only that, but Discord currently takes up my background. And he is quite comfortable there!
ReplyDeleteDownloaded this a few days ago. Runs great on my Nexus S. Don't run it very often since it drains my battery.
ReplyDeleteI now regret not getting a smartphone
ReplyDeleteFinally for the Android. Took long enough.
ReplyDelete@M1
ReplyDeleteYou can put them over an existing background, if you'd like, as well as control their size, so they don't get in the way as much.
I've actually had this for about a week now, after I stumbled across it searching for that Pocket Rainbow Dash thing. There's a few issues with just getting them all to run, and every now and then Luna likes to get stuck stuttering in a corner, but overall it's fantastic.
Rainbow flies around and Scootaloo looks on in an awed expression. D'awww <333
ReplyDeletewhy not for iOS
ReplyDeleteI should install this on my dads Android when hes not looking lol.
ReplyDeleteIf some one could upload a video of this working that would be great.
How ironic. It's for droids, yet the header has an iphone.
ReplyDeletePLEASE PLEASE PPLLLLLLEEEAAASSSEEE make it for the iphone 4
ReplyDeleteCurse all you amazing ponyfolk out there! You've just made the wait for my Bionic that much harder. I want to see how much pony a duo core processor can handle!
ReplyDeleteWhy are Pinkie's files more than four-times the size of everypony else's?
ReplyDeleteAnd it kept trying to force me to delete Sweetie Belle, even when she wasn't on screen.
=O
ReplyDeleteYES, YES, YES!!!
I wish I could have the dynamic sliding pinkie pie background i have now with this :\
ReplyDeleteWow I've been wondering when this would make it up here. Its a really cool app.
ReplyDelete@instantrainbow cause it saves each frame as an image. Pinkie does a lot more than the other ponies. Personal fave too.
*Stares at her iphone sadly...*
ReplyDeleteOMG, pls, we NEED this for iphone :(
ReplyDeleteIf only there was an IOS version...
ReplyDeleteWhen this comes out for iPhone.....
ReplyDeleteI don't know but when it does I'm so totally there!!!
I've had this on my phone for a while For some reason the custom background doesn't work for me though so I haven't been using it.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to ditch my iPhone even more.
ReplyDeleteSomeone should make something complicated for jailbroken iOS's that has animation in the wallpaper, unless it's been done already.
ReplyDeleteWoah... why does Pinkie Pie have 78 files? She has the most over all the other Ponies.
ReplyDelete@instantrainbow
ReplyDeleteIs this some sort of clever Samsung lawsuit joke I'm too dumb to get? (because it's a Samsung Android phone up there, not an iPhone)
I do find it funny how people are shocked this is for Android before iPhone.
ReplyDeleteThe reason many people choose an Android phone is for the very reason that on Android its much easier to tweak the OS setting and play with the underlaying files such as live backgrounds.
Seeing iPhone users complain that these live backgrounds got on Android before iPhone is like seeing someone complain that a knife if sharp or a fire is hot.
I have had it for a week now too. Works great with the Thunderbolt. And only uses battery when you are ON your desktop pages of your phone. It doesn't run in the background. Just a few days ago the creator added interactions between the ponys which is pretty awesome. Once it gets a few more updates under its belt it'll be stable as a table.
ReplyDeleteHow do I download more ponies once I've selected my initial set and I want to go back for more? I can't figure out how to get back to the download screen.
ReplyDeletesmart peoples Y U NO make cool stuff for ios,
ReplyDeletelol jk, i would wait as long as it takes to get animated ios wall paper
Keeps crashing on my Bionic. Gonna try to reinstall.
ReplyDeleteNeed to get better phone... O_O
ReplyDeleteI approve. My S2 is now currently infested with ponies. AND THEY SHALL NEVER LEAVE.
ReplyDeleteThe Bionic must be too new for this version i guess, gonna have to wait for a more stable release.
ReplyDeleteThis is a bit odd... I was just browsing this site like every morning when suddenly "OMG, my app is on EQD /)^3^(\".
ReplyDelete...so as the market-description suggests, this is still a beta and should be considered work-in-progress.
There are bugs that needs fixing and there is a lot of space for improvements ;) (I cannot reduce to battery draining that much, but it's the same with all the live wallpapers).
To all the ppl wanting an iPhone version I can only say that I'm not an iOS developer (and will never be) and the only way I know to put a animated wallpaper on an iPhone is vWallpaper which only plays video files.
@instantrainbow
That's an Galaxy S II. Also, Samsung used this design way before the first iPhone came out.
OH MY GOD NO! okay sorry that was a bit harsh, but if you have an andriod phone i am warning you now, this thing WILL make your phone crash. I know everyone loves their pony fill (as do I) but this app made my phone crash so hard that i actually had to take the phone into the verizon store and factory reset the thing, making me lose all my pictures and music. ov3rk1ll, i think you have a wonderful idea here and i think you have done a good job, but if you have a driod 3 like mine, well, this thing will glitch and i pray that no one has to do what i had to do
ReplyDelete@RBDash
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, now I'm scared to use it on my Droid 2...
Yeah... I'm going to wait for the ASUS Transformer 2 instead of going for some silly iPad(assuming it still has android OS on it.)
ReplyDelete@Filiecs I'm sorry! I just didn't want anyone to go through what i had to. It really sucked because i had to watch everything be reformatted, if it wasn't by some lucky chance we got all the data onto a computer, i would have lost everything on my phone.
ReplyDeleteSadly they walk off screen and never come back on my phone. Oh wells.
ReplyDeleteI seriously need some help on this, because according to the app, I am doing something wrong. So, I open the pony manager, download 4 ponies (CMC and Derpy). Then I go to Settings>Personalize>Wallpaper>Live Wallpaper. Then I select the Pony Live Wallpaper. My old wallpaper gets removed and replaced with white text that says "No ponies are selected. Go to settings." or something like that. Can someone help me out here? What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteIve had this for a wile now it is still a bit glitchy but awesome nonthe less
ReplyDeleteSame thing here Kile, just got to wait for a stable release.
ReplyDeleteVinyl Scratch dancing on the background of my phone to the sound of dirty dubtrot in her head.
ReplyDeleteNothing to see here, move along.
For some reason it crashes every time I try and load the ponies I downloaded. :<
ReplyDeleteEven though the app currently does not run on my phone, I still would like to thank overkill for putting effort and time into it, looking forward to it once all the beta parasprites are ironed out.
ReplyDeleteiphone 4? please?
ReplyDelete*hipsterpony*
ReplyDeleteI had the before it was on EqD...
......It has been out for a pretty long time already. Its nothing new.

ReplyDeleteLooks pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteTo bad my HTC Wildfire doesn't support Live Wallpapers :(
This is very cool and i'm putting it on my phone immediately!
ReplyDeleteWorking great on my Samsung Galaxy II. Only problem is them walking off screen and getting stuck in places, but they always come back eventually =)
ReplyDeleteI hope something like this comes out for the iPhone!
ReplyDeleteWorks great on my HTC Sensation 4G. Working on the HTC HD@/Android but a little slow on that one (stick with four ponies or less).
ReplyDelete@Kile Anderson
Go back into settings and uncheck then re-check the ponies. Happened to my once too.
@RBDash
Something's wrong with your phone, a live wallpaper can't crash your phone that badly. If it really got that bad you could have just pushed a different launcher to it through your computer and rebooted, clear the settings for your old launcher then set the old one as default again. tl;dr the Version techs were idiots (big shock) who were too lazy to spend more then a few minutes on your issue.
@iPhone folks
Blame Apple and their ass-backwards retro business practice. At least they finally stole the Android notification system for the next release. They should have stolen the launcher to and given you something useful too like widgets but not going to happen.
HD2 - stupid typo
ReplyDeleteWould people who comment with bugs etc they found please mention which phone they're using? I have an HTC Hero but still unsure what it will do on/with my phone.
ReplyDeleteIt did't work on HTC's phone.....
ReplyDeleteoh sad.....
As soon my phone is charged I'm doing this :D Hopefully it will work for the HTC Legend...
ReplyDeleteDidn't work well on my Bionic, gonna install on my galaxy tab, Sony Experia play, and OG droid shortly.
ReplyDeleteworks godly on HTC Desire Z
ReplyDelete@Nämahs I thought it was because Apple charges for the iPhone dev tools whereas anyone can download the Android tools for free. Hence any random brony with coding skills can whip this out, while only people committed to making iPhone apps would pay the price.
ReplyDeleteY U NO MAKE COMPATIBLE FOR NOKIA E71?! >:O
ReplyDeleteThis works flawlessly after a screen lock-unlock cycle on HTC Wildfire S. I now have Luna sleeping on the dais next to Nightmare Moon by CrappyUnicorn. I had to do the unlock trick otherwise the background would not scroll and the pony would walk off screen (So if that can be fixed in some way it would be nice ;-) )
ReplyDeleteI only have Luna though, and running at 10 FPS. I tried the mane 6 at 25 and while it worked it stuttered a lot and the battery drained one percent per ten seconds or so. But right now it's fine, the battery doesn't seem to be affected at all and the Wildfire S doesn't have the biggest battery to begin with.
One thing I would do is perhaps place some no-pony zones of a few pixels wide so they don't end up partially walking off screen at the farthest sides and staying there or getting under the status bars at the top/bottom. Though I suppose the bottom one is virtually impossible to adapt to as it changes fromphone to phone.
Totally wish I had a nicer android now(stoopid samsung intercept)
ReplyDelete@Arcane Scroll
ReplyDeleteThanks. Between your help and a very recent update, I got it to work.
can you get on a site freen desktop ponies for your pc? i want them :D xd
ReplyDeleteThis works fine on a LG Thrill, at 30 FPS, no less. Bravo, 0v4rk1ll
ReplyDeleteI can't get it to remember my selection of ponies. Every time I make a selection it forgets immediately and says I have none selected. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm using an Asus Transformer tablet with Android 3.2.
Mother of... the ponies, they're everywhere on my phone... and I love it!
ReplyDeletePS: working fine with Xperia Mini ST-15i
I had this on my HTC dinc2 for a little while, it's cool and all, but... it's not exactly battery friendly, and the "pony manager" has adware built in. Now I understand why people use ads in apps, for the revenue, but lets face it, a real brony would pay for this.
ReplyDelete[Yes, I am against adware. I would prefer trialware, at least with a trial, I can decide weather it is worth my time or not to purchase a full product.]
If this was for iPhone it wouldnt have many bugs it's that android makes there phone differently with memory and proccesors. Each phone is different from one another.
ReplyDeletethis wont work properly for me i instaled it dled all ponies and even with just one pony running the screen just shows up blank for me im using a tmoble variant of the samsung galaxy s2 runnning android gingerbread what do ?
ReplyDeletedoes this still exist anywhere?
