Remember a while back when I was saying FiM needed a villian song? Well a group has put taken the "Be Prepared" comic and turned it into a PMV with vocals for each part. It's pretty well done! Check it out after the break.

This is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo close.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a great video.
Speaking as a fan of both The Lion King and villain songs: ABOUT F*CKING TIME.
ReplyDeleteYep, here it comes... the urge to watch The Lion King is coming back again.
ReplyDeleteThis fandom certainly has a lot of talented bronies in it eh?
ReplyDeleteWell, time to go write lyrics for all disney song, using ponies.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes YES YES!
ReplyDeleteYES!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to watch the Lion King again...
ReplyDeleteThe small, left aligned embed reminds me of times long past.
ReplyDeleteVery very well done I loved it
ReplyDeleteI wish Nightmare Moon had done a song like this before the mane 6 used the elements.
ReplyDeleteAnd damn, the Lion King...my childhood...seeing it in theaters when it originally came out... eeyup
But about the video, I'd say it was pretty well done. Maybe not the best Nightmare Moon singing, but sure as hay better than what I could do...because, I'm not female, and I don't consider myself a singer.
HOLY...
ReplyDeleteOk, you have my respect. This is goddamn incredible.
*Only* thing I have to complain about is the vocalist not being perfect. Damn good for not being a professional singer, mind. Not at all grating like most amateurs. Just not, well, to the level of a professional.
Consider that a complement (unless you actually are a professional singer, heh).
I dunno, the voice for Nightmare Moon was alright, but she lacked the villainous qualities that made the show's Nightmare Moon so evil.
ReplyDeleteIt was good, though. Even without the proper voice, this song as a PMV makes me want to brofist the moon.
I could critique the vocals, but considering the awesomeness of the premise, I feel no need to be cynical =D
ReplyDeleteWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome!
yeah indeed amazing... but as what others said.. i didn't particularly care for Nightmare moons vocals....sounded too young and a little off key... but also as others said - damn sure it be way more then 20% better then i could bother attempting to do XD - Great job to all involed
ReplyDeleteTHE NOSTALGIA
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! i agree with the others in regard to the vocals, but everything was very well arranged and suited the feeling of the comic pretty well! also the Shadow Bolt voices were cool and added to the villainous feel of the song! Gotta have the little villain minions right?
ReplyDeleteI liked the comic very much, and this took me by surprise.
ReplyDeleteIt's simply AWSOME!!
for an at home job, this was done well... the means of animating throught the panels went nice good work
ReplyDeleteThis was pretty decent overall. They kept in tune well and were good on their timing. I know the voice isn't -perfect-, but come now. All in all, I'd give it a 7.5 to an 8.
ReplyDeleteI'll be pretty brutally honest and say the vocals are quite terrible. I'm no singer myself, mind you, but that ist just barely carrying the tune here.
ReplyDeleteBeing that it is an amateur thing though, it's an excellent effort. Just... a bit jarring to the ear!
Now it needs to be animated, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteGreat concept, but needs a better singer.
ReplyDeleteis there something under the sun that cannot be ponified? Celestia forbid that from happening, though!
ReplyDeleteAll of my YES. All of it.
ReplyDeleteI remember the time I read this when it was posted here and thought, after finding out what it was in reference to, "Man, I really, REALLY want this to be voiced."
/)^3^(\ Fandom ftw! /)^3^(\
You know, the second I came across this comic, I sang along as I was reading it (as did a fair few others I believe), but, to quote one Pinkius Pieicus, "this is my jam!" Loved the song from the get-go, known to break out into it for funzies (once had the neighbours freaking out when I did the "You won't get a sniff without me!" bit) and as a matter of fact I sang this for my school musical a million years ago.
ReplyDeleteProblem being, I'm a colt, not a filly. How would people react to a male version of this?
@MrPoniator Yes, oh god yes. That would be amazing if you can do that for us!
ReplyDeleteim so happy
ReplyDeleteOff-key I can handle, but off-tempo just makes me cringe until my brain hurts. There was a part near the end where it went so off-tempo I had to stop watching :/
ReplyDeleteA great effort, but just doesn't come close to having the same power as the original. Doesn't help that the lyrics were wonky to start with.
Great premise. Voice needs work. But all that has been said already.
ReplyDelete-PonyJedi
Really GREAT work!!!
ReplyDelete(I will watch a certain movie today...)
soooo awesome
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of Lion King. The Hyenas :o
ReplyDeleteAlmost nailed it.
ReplyDeleteNMM's voice sounds too sweet and teenager-like. Like you had a girl try to deepen her voice.
Also, she held back on the shouting parts.
NEVER, EVER HOLD BACK!
The Shadowbolts didn't hold back on the "Lalalalalalaaa" part.
Other than that, I enjoyed it. :)
Hooray! They either listened to my comment demanding this be done or they had the same idea!
ReplyDeleteFor a fanmade production, I`d say it was well made.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite disney songs ever! Now with Nightmare Moon. This day is already off to a great start.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't really size up to Scar's performance (NMM's voice was too even at all times...not enough variation and emphasis on certain phrases), but that's an unreasonably tall order for any fan work. I enjoyed it nonetheless. This is one of my favorite songs!
ReplyDeleteWe need to see Poor Unfortunit Souls ponified now.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, someone beat me to it. Curse this cold for keeping me from singing!
ReplyDeleteI have a male villain voice and a so-so mic, but I'm fairly confident I can sing this well. Anypony still want me to do it?
I knew this would happen eventually. God, this fandom moves ridiculously fast!
ReplyDeletethey were a bit shy using their voices when there was shouting, but p. epic. <3
ReplyDeleteNice try y'all, but no dice. Not even close to NMM's voice. Good effort though! Keep trying, you'll get it!
ReplyDeleteWhen you say it's "pretty well done", I hope that you didn't mean the art. And the vocals... sorry, but no.
ReplyDelete@80PercentBrony
ReplyDeleteThe whole Shadowbolt conversation and the "la la la" part were voiced by one professional voice actor. The chorus and NMM were all amateurs.(I know the audio engineer who put this together for them)
Another one for the record books. How many achievements do we have now?
ReplyDeleteGirl was off key but hey it was awesome :D
ReplyDeleteIt had a certain G1 ring to it, which is not a bad thing, really, but I think it doesn't really match the FiM style...
ReplyDeleteNever seen the comic, but I instantly recognized this song. DAMN YOU, SCAR.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS FANDOM!
ReplyDeleteNeeds moar evil, but it was great.
Suck it Disney!
