Even without any love for the series though, I can definitely appreciate how amazing this video is.
Now someone go hack pony sprites into the real game! I bet it would be at least 20% more compelling if everyone was a pony.
Have the video after the break!

That was cool.
ReplyDeleteFIRS---
ReplyDeleteDamnit, foiled again! Oh, well.
never liked persona either, im not much of a anime fan, very rare are ones that catch my eye
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. Too bad I don't know shit about P3.
ReplyDeleteAwesome video is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAs a huge fan of the Persona franchise, this video gave me a giant wingboner *^*
Intriguing. What's Person 3?
ReplyDeleteIts been a long time since I've played Persona. I played through it with a friend and then spent half a year of college talking another friend into buying it. Good times, Good times.
ReplyDeleteA hack of Persona 3 would be interesting, but does anyone really want to animate Twilight shooting herself in the head?
Interesting video. Too bad I have no idea what Persona 3 is.

ReplyDelete*Persona 3
"In Persona 3, the player takes the role of a male high-school student who joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students investigating the Dark Hour, a time period between one day and the next that few people are aware of. During the Dark Hour, the player enters Tartarus, a large tower containing Shadows, creatures that feed on the minds of humans. To fight the Shadows, each member of SEES is able to summon a Persona, a manifestation of a person's inner self. The game's most iconic feature is the method by which the members of SEES release their Personas: by firing a gun-like object called an Evoker at their head. In addition to the standard elements of role-playing games, Persona 3 includes elements of simulation games, as the game's protagonist progresses day by day through a school year, making friends and forming relationships that improve the strength of his Personas in battle."
Wikipedia couldn't have explained it any better.

Wow, this was amazingly done. It only fits when a show that presents friendship as magic parodies a game where friendship is magic.
ReplyDeleteSo apparently in the ponyverse, sticking a cupcake in your eye is equivalent to shooting yourself? Who knew?
Never been much of a Persona guy myself. Who knows, maybe I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteHoly #$^@ this was amazing. The quality of fan-made pony content continues to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteEh, I never played that game myself honestly.
ReplyDeleteVideo was kinda cool though.
awsome I would take lyra over Orpheus as a persona anyday!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is really good. I kind of wish they'd used the PSP opening though since that's the version I played.
ReplyDeleteSweetness, so we have a P4 crossover fic, and remake of the P3 opening. Wow, now we just need something for P2: Innocent Sin.
ReplyDelete@Oscilous
ReplyDeleteDon't forget - two fics on the Persona Spinoff "Catherine"
(One of which is still incomplete - *innocent whistle*)
that was so legit and the effects and editing work were just incredible. even though i didnt really love the game itself
ReplyDeleteThis was EPIC. Having watched the original version about a hundred times on my PS2 I can safely say that justice was MORE than done. This was... fantastic. Just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteXD I burst out laughing at Lyra being used for Orpheus, and the cupcake as an Evoker. XD so awesome.
Persona 3 is dark. But one of the things I loved about it over Final Fantasy is that it sets up an episodic method of storytelling over a "go out and see the world" type of storytelling and gives the impression that ordinary life things are happening to you in addition to the supernatural stuff.
ReplyDeleteActually, Persona with ponies would probably get me to actually play it. Heck, I bet someone could make an entire indie game based on this idea, much smaller of course. Heck, I can imagine already Pinkie summoning Cupcakes as her persona.
ReplyDeletejeebus, this was nice
ReplyDeleteThis game got me though afghanistan, and now it has been ponified. Best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteoh my GOOODDD this is amazing!
ReplyDeletealso, soul destroyingly depressing, since I don't have persona on hand and september is mockingly far away.
@Firleycat
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Pinkie Pie Swear eye-poke?
I liked the editing on this one. Although I've never finish any of the Persona games, I always loved the music and the openings.

Usually don't like these things but that was pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteBeing a HUGE Persona 3 fan, I might be a little biased when I say that this is the greatest thing I have ever seen, EVER. This is the best thing to happen to P3 since Yukari's Social Link Max scene and Christmas Date were fully voiced.
ReplyDeleteI. LOVE. THIS. WEBSITE.
ReplyDeleteI. LOVE. THIS. COMMUNITY.
Ponies. Digital Devil Saga.
ReplyDeleteWatch the bronies cry in agony under its soul crushing despair.
Damn, this is amazing. If only we COULD do a hack to add ponies, but since the game was on the PS2 and used three dimensional models, we probably won't see anything like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I want to play P3FES. Too bad it got fatally scratched...
That was great, and I would totally play that game.
ReplyDeletePersona 3 proves that friendship is in fact magic, or some twisted form of suicide-esque cult nonsense that summons demons based on ones psyche but revolves around friendship.
ReplyDeleteEither way, I approve.
Was... was that a cupcake evoker?
ReplyDeleteHow good is that remake?
ReplyDeleteThis good: http://youtubedoubler.com/1vSi
Well damn, if this were an actual game,
ReplyDelete(spoilers)
Twilight would die. That makes me a sad panda.
Never was a fan of the SMTP3 opening in general, but this was exceptionally well-done, basically perfect.
ReplyDeleteAlso: "I bet it would be at least 20% more compelling if everyone was a pony."
No.
Stick a cupcake in your eye to release your persona :D
ReplyDeleteWow. Those were some cool effects, I have to say. Too bad I never played the game.
ReplyDeleteLyra should be the ultimate Persona of the FeMC xD
ReplyDeleteThe pony that has done this has completely taken control of my will.
ReplyDeleteCOOOOOOOL :3
ReplyDeleteNow I REALLY NEED to watch a ponified version of P4 intro :_D
And then persona became 20% more popular.
ReplyDeleteThe arcana tells all....
ReplyDeleteGah I just found this video today. P3 is my favorite game. I just got P3P and I looked up if it was ponified at all. This video gave me a massive wing boner.
