Just in case you guys were curious about how much we have grown, or for the new people that weren't here from the beginning, this timeline does a really good job of laying everything out!
When I created this site, I didn't really think it would last for more than a few months. Pony was supposed to be a trend..not a subculture! I also thought it would die out a month after season one ended.. but here I am with triple the emails I had during the final episode.
You guys are crazy.

Yes we are crazy, and we are proud of this !
ReplyDeleteThis site rocks !!
Well that sure says something about how awesome this community is. Nice.
ReplyDeleteScary thing is... most likely on the 21st of this month, EqD will hit 20 million page views. On August 10th, at current rates, that number will be 25 million.
ReplyDeleteWow.
Cool.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that during the beginning of EqD, it took almost 3 months to get to a million views. Now it takes around 4 days. My my how we have grown.
ReplyDeleteThere's hardly any mention of ponies on /b/. Seriously, more ponies are posted on /b/ than on /co/.
ReplyDeleteAnd then I realized I had spent half of the year obsessing over my little pony.
ReplyDelete~Scratch
FOR THE HERD!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Half a year well spent
ReplyDelete@Narwhals' Bend:
ReplyDeleteWait, there's HARDLY any mention of ponies on /b/. MORE ponies are posted on /b/ than on /co/.
Do you mean more or less? Just curious, sorry if it comes off as jerky.
I also apologize if you correct yourself before I post this, it wasn't up yet.
SWEET, I've always wanted to know the History of the Bronies, Now all we need is a full documentation and videos on how it actually hapenned
ReplyDeleteHeck, they'll soon be teaching this in the history class when we take over the world xD
Correction I'm nutz, I attract more squirrels that way.
ReplyDeleteWhoever did this deserves a freaking muffin!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome, Seth.
ReplyDeleteWow, it didn't even take 6 months to hit 10million views on EqD.
ReplyDeleteExcellence.
So AWESOME
ReplyDeleteCrazy? It all seems normal to me.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably your "fault" we've lasted so long, Seth.
ReplyDelete@Fallin' Winter
ReplyDeleteCompare the number of ponies posted in this thread, compared to this thread.
Haha oh wow, when I made the Know Your Meme page I had NO idea it would get this big. At all. This kinda makes me realize just how big it's gotten in such little time.
ReplyDeleteI remember coming back after 3 days of not viewing the page since I created it to see that it hit 18,000. I was dumbfounded. That's what led me to start watching all the episodes actually, since after getting all those views on the page my original thoughts of it just being an isolated incident of trolling were put to rest and I then thought there must really be something to it.
And so now after happily accepting ponies in mid february, I can look back on the months I've been part of this community and say that it's the greatest thing I've ever been a part of.
I love you guys.
Can't fight crazy, Seth. That's the advantage of it.
ReplyDeleteSeems like it was just yesterday I became a brony. I dont even remember having anything to do with it around December.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI like to think I played a part in it. Hopefully.
That or spreading Trixie. I'm guarantee I helped spread her!
All the bronies on this website are crazy.
ReplyDeleteGood, but not ponybooru mentined in no place
ReplyDeleteIt's a damn feat that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteno u
ReplyDeleteI think PonyCraft 2 should be on the time line...
ReplyDeleteIt was the first Professional-Made video with FIM
which got tons of people to check it out
And at that time it was the most viewed video with Friendship Is Magic
It was more like a victory video
Yep! We're all crazy! But it's fun to be crazy. Much more interesting that way.
ReplyDelete@Narwhals' Bend
ReplyDeleteIn other words, /b/ doesn't talk about ponies but they post a lot of it? There aren't as many ponies posted in /b/ than in /co/ though. I'd say that it's like every other picture compared to almost every picture in /co/ though.
Seth, are you still in a box from the first million pageview comic?
ReplyDeleteOne year later-MLP forms the basis for world peace.
ReplyDelete@Fallin' Winter
ReplyDeleteNo, /b/ doesn't talk about ponies as much as /co/, but /b/ does post more ponies. /b/ goes through 3 threads in the time /co/ goes through one.
Iv'e been a brony since February, oh how things have changed.
ReplyDeleteSo many good memories
ReplyDeleteThis is really excellent. I really appreciate it because I got on the bandwagon late so I want to know how it all started.
ReplyDeleteI first heard about FIM through knowyourmeme but I didn't watch my first episode (via YouTube) until I read the Wired article.
Only been here two months. I feel like I missed out on some stuff. :'(
ReplyDeleteOh well TO THE FUTURE
@Narwhals' Bend
ReplyDeleteIm the guy who made this timeline. I have been a /b/tard since January, however I was not able to find the first pony threads of /b/ on any of the 4chan archives.
And keeping track of a topic on /b/ is almost impossible, for the front page changes within seconds.
@Narwhals' Bend
ReplyDeleteAh, I see now. I just thought you meant specifically in the threads that you posted. Thanks for clearing that up.
@Sethisto Trixie shall take over the internet between you and I, Seth. Mostly you. Probably all you. In fact Phoe inadvertently, with the Training Grounds, probably spread Trixie more than I have. Heck, Cereal has probably spread more Trixie than I have.
ReplyDeleteBut whatever! I'm amazed at this thing we've become. And this timeline has most of the major things on it, and I love it.
Proud brony since February! I actually watched the first episode on my birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love this fandom.
I love the works coming out of this fandom
I love the mutual relationship we have with the production and marketing crew.
I love the gestures we're getting from them.
I love Ponychan.
I love the fact that everybody who gets into this fandom is immediately sucked in (In a good way, of course!)
There's simply so much love in this fandom!
I am aware of the fact that I left out cupcakes, PMV's and other stuff, but this was supposed to be a basic timeline only covering the major events. As you can see, this timeline is already a clusterfuck and I didn't want to make it anymore confusing, by adding more lines going all over the picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback. *hugs*
I became a Brony in mid-February...Valentines Day to be exact. I spent the day watching all of the episodes that were out at the time.
ReplyDeleteI really love this fandom, everyone is so nice. Unlike some other fandoms I have been in.
@Pegasi That'll do pig that'll do
ReplyDeleteHahaha, oh wow. Can't believe we made it this far, but who cares? This is awesome.
ReplyDeletehah, this also shows the evolution of Derpy Hooves. incredible timeline, anyway!
ReplyDeletewow became a brony on the same days a The best night ever aired in america. 2 weeks later I'd watched the whole season 3 times though.
ReplyDeleteAlso were normal the rest of the world is crazy
@sgt scrubnoob
ReplyDeleteI actually got hooked through the Know Your Meme page. I believe I saw one of the submemes, then the main My Little Pony entry, then followed the link here out of curiosity and never left.
Now it seems that KYM is a bit hostile towards Bronies. The Facebook page is full of parasprites.
/signature
Only triple?
ReplyDeletePONIES! You know what you must do!
TO THE NEW FANGLED INTERNATE POSTAL OFFICE!
I thought it would die down after the last episode of season 1 aired, I was wrong.
ReplyDeleteNo, I believe the ones who don't like the show are crazy! Oh, and also, Oatmeal!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like it hasn't been that long since I became a Brony. This still feels so fresh and new, not something I'm accustomed to.
ReplyDeleteBut for one reason or other, I can't remember when that total conversion happened. I guess the initial stage had to be a gradual process, so it's somewhat blurry. I think the straw that finally broke the camel's back came, after months of uncertainty, sometime around April... I guess I can't say my Bronydom is that old like with some other people around here.
I think KYM is a bit irritated that ponies came and conquered their site in just about half a year. :p
ReplyDeleteThere are some important bits here that are missing or false. For one, they forgot about Moot's banning of all the pony-hating mods. Another thing, the pony civil war on 4chan pretty much started as soon as it hit /b/. The threads at the time got spammed continuously with gore and all kinds of shit.
ReplyDelete@Pegasi
ReplyDeleteIf you want to expand it more Iv got free time till I can find work so I'd be happy to work on adding Fanfic and PMV's, etc to the timeline as well as making it less cluttered and what not
Is this on KYM yet? It deserves to be part of the article. *goes to handle it*
ReplyDelete@IAreLemons
ReplyDeletem00t banning the rading mod was just a rumor. Im not sure about the others, though.
Also there is always a civil war on /b/, every single thread is on fire.
But that the mods acutally meddled, caused the war between the haters and Bronies to explode.
A shistrom on /b/ happens on a daily bases, but with the mods interfering the war became unusual.
On July 12 at around 6:11 p.m., equestrian daily got its 17777777th page view, we are very lucky (get it)
ReplyDelete/b/ started to get in on it during the 2 week hiatus from the show we had in January, members of /co/ were 'raiding' other 4chan boards with ponies. It wasn't really until the start of February that it actually caught on, and ponies became a regular thing on /b/.
ReplyDeleteIt IS a wonder how this website has lasted considering its owners are self-absorbed crappy article typers
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOh boy, here come the trolls.
Yep this site rocks. Thank you Sethisto.
ReplyDeleteIf someone was smart, they could try and find my IP. Anyways, you're welcome, Seth. Enjoy this new era of the internet.
ReplyDelete@Vulcan539
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that you want to confront this layer mess? :D
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/6573/layermess.png
By the beginning of season 2, ponies will replace cats as the dominant life form on the internet.
ReplyDeletewhy does everyone use photo shop lol.
ReplyDeleteshrug yeah looks allot more entreating the Dr Phill.
I became a brony (although I didn't know it at the time) when I saw a snippet of the first ep of MLP:FiM at the Hasbro website. It touched something in me. I was in shock. I shook it off and proceeded on with my life, and then I started hearing rumors of "bronies". Eventually I had a Lion-King-like epiphany of "Remember who you are" (or rather, ACKNOWLEDGE who you are) and joined the herd. This is a wonderful fandom. And why shouldn't it be? It's based around a wonderful show.
ReplyDeleteSaved. Very informative timeline, which I am proud to be a part of.
ReplyDeleteThis fandom scares me. like alot. In a REALLY REALLY good way, but still. has anything else blown up like this on the internet? I mean lolcats and other like it became really big really fast but I don't think they were anything like this.
ReplyDeletelove this fandom. I love the PMVs, the fanfics, the fanart, the fan-made parodies, and I love the community. I'm very glad I found this community and wouldn't give it for anything.
That timeline is very informative. I love this fanbase.
ReplyDeleteCool. Another timeline should be made this time next year in order to record what new things develop.
ReplyDelete@SomeGuy
ReplyDeleteOh Celestia it's another SomeGuy this is going to be confusing.
The first date on that timeline is my birthday :D
Why doesn't that timeline have NPR's quizzing of former president Bill Clinton over FiM on "Wait, wait, don't tell me"?
ReplyDeleteFunny how /b/ raided ponychan considering they made the place work. Sows how inept /b/tards are I guess.
ReplyDeleteMan, it feels like it was just yesterday when I became a part of this awesome community.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what else we can accomplish in the future. :D
My friend from school is a serious brony, he showed me it, (since I detoxed myself off of the Internet late last summer I didn't know about it)
ReplyDeleteI only found out a month ago if that. At first I kinda thought it was okay, but slowly it grew on me. So I read that clopfic Swayback Mountain and, didn't clop, but instead BAWWWWW'd. I have been hooked on the show and the fandom since.
I love you guys. Not as much as my girlfriend, but not far off.

I ain't around for around 85% part of this awesome timeline cause I just started watching this june now that I'm in college. I was gonna try it out at around April (Yes april and may are our summer breaks) but somehow I procrastinated until June. Worst time to procrastinate really should have watched it when I can a few months ago.
ReplyDeleteHehe... I remember when the website had only THREE(3) pages !
ReplyDelete...now it's 3 NEW pages appearing EACH day !
(half of the post being stories... like, at least 5-7 of them a day...)
(Seriously, at the moment of this post, I have like 112 bookmarks of stories waiting to be read ! And quite a few of them are MULTI-PARTS !!! ...it's very hard to keep up, since about a month now, for some reasons ?)
This is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad this isn't a passing fad or trend. I remember back when people were doubt the fandom would survive the long wait between seasons. I am utterly amazed at how everyone has stepped up to fill the void!
I really didn't know what I would do without ponies every Friday...that show makes me grin like an idiot--even the "worst" episodes. I love how this fandom keeps giving me reasons to continue grinning every single day! In fact, I see more and more people joining the herd than ever now. Rather than fading away, I'd say we're stronger than ever.
This is really the best fandom I've ever had the joy and honor of taking part in. :D
The community is not just crazy. It is crazy awesome. And I'm so proud to be a part of it, as everypony else.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that this is missing the release of that article that accused FiM of being racist and anti-feminist, and Lauren's rebuttal to it. I think that should be considered a fairly notable event seeing as it was one of the first few articles in the mainstream media about FiM. Plus, the writer's shrill tone and Lauren's wonderfully written reply must have gotten a few people interested. I'm fairly certain it was one of the things that pushed me into watching.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYes, this is definitely something noticeable, on an ''Historical'' perspective. :)
Those 2 points should be added.
...this thing might end up becoming longer, than first thought ;)
FINALLY proof of our success!!!!!
ReplyDelete(HuffytheMagicDragon)
Fuck yea, I've been here since early February. Someone should try to put together a brony population chart. I think it really exploded in March and just kept going.
ReplyDeleteHere is something for you all to think about, the Mayans had it right the end of the world is on 12-24-2012 for that is when bronys will take over and create a new world, a world of ponys.
ReplyDeleteNeeds update. How about Daniel Ingram's facebook?
ReplyDeletewow there are alot of us wonder why havent met any in texas -_-
ReplyDelete
