    2. I don't know how to feel about this strangely enough.

    3. holy shit...

the mule comment just confirms the fact that like one of his writers is a brony

    4. No, Jimmy, but it IS a hate crime if she calls her a Unicornigger.

    7. I think that audio made that scene about...20% cooler.

      You knew that was coming.

      ReplyDelete
    8. I'm sure they know a thing or two about the show, the voices and the situation fit too well and the mule comment at the end pretty much confirms they watched more than one episode.

    9. I love this so much, it gives me hope, I really wanna see if this sorta thing catches on in the UK when MLP comes out here.

      ReplyDelete
    12. that was hilarious XD I loved the Friendship line especially, and the sync is great!

      ReplyDelete
    13. Ya know. That was actually pretty hilarious!

      "Punk ass bitch"
Oh I started hollering at that.

      ReplyDelete
    14. I can actually imaging those two talking that way!

      ReplyDelete
    15. That is too funny. And while this might not necessarily mean that one of the writers is a brony, it does mean they at least did their research and watched a few episodes, ot at least that particular one.

In all seriousness, this is a GOOD thing. The Hub is kind of hard to get for some people, so most would check out the internet and end up on YouTube or something like that. Just seeing it on TV alone means at least one person is going to say "Hey, what's this?" and check it out.

Yeah, Rarity, when DID you start caring about friendship?

      Anyway, Woo for mainstream ponies!

You don't understand. He's a brony now even if he wasn't before. I mean, you KNOW what happens if you sit down and watch an episode!

    21. Alright everyone Ponies are officially over :( time to go home and get a new thing.

      ReplyDelete
    22. So half of us are bronies because it's not mainstream and we're beating the man or whatever? Jesus. It's a good show, keep watching.

I can no longer not imagine Applejack saying "Punk-ass bitch" anytime I see her.

      ReplyDelete
    23. @Ridley

It's not that it's because it's mainstream. It's because Jimmy Kimmel sucks, and generally ruins everything he touches.

      ReplyDelete
    24. If more people are getting interested in MLP, than we will get better toys, more seasons, more everything.
I finally want a COOL looking Rainbow Dash.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Supposing this does cause a spike in Pony interest, this wouldn't be the first time that Jimmy Kimmel has drawn attention to an obscure internet video and hurled it into the spotlight.

    32. Am I the only one who's noticed a professional studio, with a team of people, didn't produce something better than somepony from around here?

      ReplyDelete
    33. Sheep, the only thing they did better was lipsynching (something important for a many billion dollar studio, and something that somepony doesn't have time to worry about most of the time)

Otherwise, yes, the ponies and bronies have put out must better content. Still, I say this is a good first step for which ever studio company this was. There's room for improvement before they reach celestia tier.

      ReplyDelete
    34. bravo jimmy kimmel, bravo

Do everyone a favor and never post anything on the Internet ever again. You're apparently watching a show about ponies and you're still talking like some bigoted brat on Xbox live?

You are the definition of pathetic.

      ReplyDelete
    37. Wow...lots of hate for Kimmel. I will admit that I am not the biggest fan of his show but this was pretty well done and very funny. A couple of the throwaway lines make me think that there must be a brony in Jimmy's writing team. Anyway I am all for ponies becoming more mainstream. I can always tell people that I liked it before it was popular and preserve my super secret pony hipster cred.

Don't feed him, we don;t want this turning into a parasparite thread without Pinkie Pie to save us.

      ReplyDelete
    40. Stop hating on Kimmel and stop makeing that much drama arround it.

      ReplyDelete
    41. It could be because I dont like in the States, but who is Jimmy Kimmel?

      ReplyDelete
    42. Man, if I knew what a hipster comment even looked like, I would be posting them soooooooooooo fast, bro.

    43. -Friendship is Magic becomes mainstream
-Hasbro realizes it's popular with young adults
-Hasbro outsources MLP to Toei Animation, who then make Mairitoruponī: Yūjō no mahō Z Kai
      -PinkieMech confirmed.

    46. For those who don't watch celebrity apprentice, nene(applejack), infamous real housewife of atlanta is fighting with star jones(rarity), aa famous black writer and host of the view. This has been all they ever do since latoya jackson was kicked off the show because nene is a dumb stereotypical nigger trying to keep it real and star is a black lady projeect manager. The guys at jimmy kimmell knew damn well that applejack and rarity fighting were the perfect gag to dub over and make this funny, probably because they watch both shows. Btw, star jones was eliminated during obamas announcement.

      ReplyDelete
    47. I don't see how this is a bad thing. At all.

      ReplyDelete
    48. mlp going mainstream?
well that just puts my over sized non prescription glasses in a knot

      ReplyDelete
    49. @Anonymous

Anonymous, thanks for the info. I've actually heard of Star Jones.

For the other Anonymous, Jimmy Kimmel is a comedian who used to be the co-host of two popular U.S. cable TV programs, "Win Ben Stein's Money" and "The Man Show." He's now the host of his own late-night talk show on U.S. broadcast TV.

Speaking of which, I was actually on the Kimmel show once (sort of): I appeared in a report "Cousin Sal" did on Furries a few years ago.

      ReplyDelete
    50. I didn't find that funny at all but it's nice to see some good exposure

      ReplyDelete
    51. I was hoping for "This Week in Unnecessary Censorship: Friendship is Magic Edition", but this is good too.

      ReplyDelete
    52. The way I see it MLP could be heading one of 2 ways:
      1. it continues as it is as a normal childs cartoon
      2. It takes a massive riight turn into the adult humour section.
I think if hasbro chooses number 2 the show will become a number 2. Besides, MLP is supposed to be proof that there are still good cartoons out there. If it changes, that would destroy it's purpose.

      ReplyDelete
    53. @Anonymous

This is a very small fear I have for the future of the show. When something like this gains insanely massive popularity very quickly it runs a major risk of becoming overwhelmed by its own fan-base and ultimately falling.

It happened to Freakazoid, it could happen to MLP...tread cautiously my Bronies...

      ReplyDelete
    54. I agree with most here. I liked the clip itself. I mean, it WAS funny, and just as good a quality as some of the bronies have produced. But I still hate Kimmel. He's one of the most unfunny people on television today. I don't really know who makes the decisions to write stuff to put on the show, but it seems that they MAY have done so just to hop on the pony bandwagon.

Big-fat-money-hungry-producer of the show: "My nephew says ponies are popular. Lets get some on the show in some way. Make it happen!"

Writer of the show: "Oh yeah, it's actually a pretty good show."

Producer: "Don't care! Make it happen!"

And then Jimmy Kimmel delivers the dialog around the clip with his usual soulless bland approach.

      ReplyDelete
    55. Joke was a bit flat but a decent exposure at least.
Jimmy Kimmel is really the best you can expect if you want something like Ponies to get on national television.

      ReplyDelete
    56. Wow, it's like watching a Youtube Poop on an actual TV. That was amusing.

I'm not a major fan of Kimmel, but I did chuckle at his remark, "If an orange pony cusses out a white one, is that a hate-crime?"

      ReplyDelete
    57. @PonyStark

Agreed. This is everyone's fear, I think. We must remember that, while Faust and her team actually makes the show, the Hasbro corporation is the one funding them.

One of the first things to remember about making anything is that whoever gives you the money to create will label your creation (and you for that matter) as being theirs to do with as they please. Considering that Hasbro has made some pretty poor business choices with their toys before, it's possible that they might try to push Faust's team toward a certain "more adult" direction. In which case we would all suffer.

I think some of us here that still remember "Animaniacs". Don't get me wrong, it was good when it first started, but then turned into a repetitive boring mess that did nothing but make pop-culture references. We would all hate to have MLP go that route.

      ReplyDelete
    58. I honestly don't think that's what will happen to the show. Hasbro only cares about the toy sales and when the toy sales are good, as they have been, then Hasbro will basically more or less say "just do what you're good at and make sure you have certain characters in it."

Faust knows exactly why the show has a following it does, and knows that aiming it directly at us would ruin the charm of the show. What's more, I'm sure the higher ups can understand that as well if she were to explain it to them.

also, there's no such thing as a pony bandwagon. By the very nature of the show, if you don't like it, you won't be watching it.

      ReplyDelete
    59. @Random Defence
He wasn't calling Rarity a mule.
He was just saying that "ass" is another term for mule.

      ReplyDelete
    60. that was funny as hell

      ReplyDelete
    61. Publicity is Magic?

Better than VG Cats, at least.

      ReplyDelete
    62. @Adrian Brony Co sign as for those who fear the show could go down in it's appeal due the massive following above it's original demographic. You forget Lauren faust is a Veteran of 2 other SUCCESSFUL tv shows. I think the writers and lauren faust know what they are doing.

      ReplyDelete
    63. That was freaking funny and worked well with the Apprentice vocals.

      ReplyDelete
    64. That was hilarious. National public exposure for the win!

That being said I do agree with others that I would hate for the tone and direction of the actual show to shift towards a more adult feel. I don't think Lauren would allow it since she tried to buck (pun not intentional) the trends and stereotypes surrounding the franchise and make a show for little girls that was of high quality, plus her own childhood love of MLP. She knows (and I hope the Hasbro execs do too) that the extended fan base loves the series for what it is now, and changing it in an attempt to gain more money would do more harm then good. As the saying goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

      ReplyDelete
    65. Episode 26: Applejack calls Celestia a "Punk-ass Bitch" and is turned into a tree. With special guest Gary Busey as Fluttershy.

      ReplyDelete
    66. @SomeGuy

I don't think anyone's giving Lauren and the writers enough credit as artists. I might throw in a line or two as fan service in one of my stories, but the rest of it would always remain my own personal idea of what the narrative should be, and no one else's.

And to deviate from the trend of this comment page again, I actually kind of like Jimmy Kimmel. :/

      ReplyDelete
    67. @Daffodil

      oh god

why did you make me imagine gary busey as fluttershy

      ReplyDelete
    68. Rarity hates mules, she thinks they are disgusting

      ReplyDelete
    69. @Anonymous

"I will tear your endocrine system out! I mean, if that's okay with you..."

      ReplyDelete
    70. Ok, here's the deal, Jimmy Kimmel isn't the brony here (most likly) if he was, he would have that giant grin a brony gets whenever talking about ponies to a non-brony, a writer probably was and talked them into putting it in.

Second, this doesn't mean MLP is going mainstream, Hasbro had nothing to do with it and probably doesn't care. It's like when shows like this use Spongebob as a joke, they do it because people kind of know the subject material. People will see it on TV and think: "Oh haha My Little Pony and Real Housewifes of Atlanta." This means absolutley nothing for the show, it won't change a thing.

tl,dr Jimmy's probably not the brony here, and they poked a joke at the show, and Hasbro isn't "changing it's audience to more adult feel." We still love ponies.

      ReplyDelete
    71. Jimmy Kimmel was, is and always will be fucking awesome :D

      ReplyDelete
    72. @PonyStark
I thought the whole freakazoid thing was because someone who made this offshoot super hero named madman was upset that he was unnoticed and so said how the show greatly copied his work and legal issues abound.

      ReplyDelete
    73. Guys, if you're so convinced Jimmy Kimmel sucks, then don't watch the video. Just stick to straight-up pony.

      ReplyDelete
    74. @Adrian Brony

      "HOW'M I DOIN' TODAY, FLUTTERSHY?!!"

      "YOU'RE DOIN' GREAT!"

"GOOD! THEN I'LL KEEP IT UP!!"

      ReplyDelete
    75. Why does everybody have to be so negative about this free plug on national television? Thats going to bring in some major exposure and ratings to the show, thanks to Jimmy Kimmel. Thanks Jimmy! :) MLP 4 LIFE

      ReplyDelete
    76. I'm extremely okay with this, especially with the crowd reaction to the clip. The more people who like the show the better, right? He just made some people in his audience pony curious! I don't see how this can be a bad thing...

      ReplyDelete
    77. @Anonymous
While I completely agree Jimmy is more than likely not a brony and it is the work of a writer that got this into the show I wouldn't downplay the significance of this.

It might not be a sign of MLP going mainstream, but it provided a glimpse for those watching his show of what MLP looks like and the fun that can be had with it. In fact it was videos like Jimmy's, and the various PMVs and such that fans have made, that first got me interested enough to actually check the show out.

So, in the end, I don't doubt this will bring in some new fans of the show.

      ReplyDelete
    78. I was looking for the coverage of the news about Osama/Obama/.

      ReplyDelete
    79. Here's how this will attract new fans:
"Wow, that My Little Pony dub on Jimmy Kimmel was pretty funny. I think I'm going to watch the source material so I can have a point of comparison."

Of course, not knowing any better, he/she does it. This leads to him/her loving it, and a new brony is made.

      ReplyDelete
    80. YouTube Manure on TV! This is something you don't see everyday :D

      ReplyDelete
    81. There was a Pound Puppies clip on Jimmy Kimmel a month or two ago, in the unnecessary censoring segment. "I can't believe they think I'm a dog *bleep*er!" (or something).

      ReplyDelete
    82. Busey's got nothing on Pinkie.

      ReplyDelete
    83. *Puts on big rimmed glasses*
I was into MLP *before* it became mainstream! Seriously guys, a 40 sec clip on a mediocre stand-up comidy show won't make MLP mainstream or convince Hasbro to do a gritty reboot. Stop worrying and lets all go look at Fluttershy singing.

      ReplyDelete
    84. I bet it's only a matter of time before someone take the AJ/Rarity staredown shot in that clip at adds the "Punk-ass bitch" caption... and even less time before said image appears on Ponychan.
