    1. The uncensored version is best.

I'm a manly guy. It takes a lot to make me clap with glee like a schoolgirl. But this did it.

    2. ah, this.

Well, you already know what I had to say about it on DA, heh.

    3. heee, gz on getting it posted! it's a cute story (and yeah, the longer version is best version)

    4. i find it kinda silly that this has to have a warning. But whatever.

    5. You really drew the reader in - all of the characters feel well fleshed out. Nicely done!

    6. I think this was great, but that's not really important. This could have been the worst story ever(to reiterate, it's not), and it would still have been worth it to see the back and forth between RoyGBiv and Adrian Brony in the DA comments. :)

      "That's one A!"

    7. Transgendered pony fanfics?

      Really now?

    8. This is really fucking good.

    9. I'm going to be honest. When I first saw the m/trans tag, I was skeptical. But I know RoyGBiv is a talented guy(gal?) so I figured it couldn't hurt to try. Plus, there's an uncensored version!

What I found was a well written, interesting romance with a little twist. The characters seemed genuine, which is a tough thing to do when you're dealing with something as...suggestive as this.

The funny bits were great (Pinkie's calmness, Twilight in the tree).

Though, the biggest success of this story, which the author should be immensely proud of: You made me give a shit about the gray douchebag pony from Sonic Rainboom. Anyone who can do that deserves a medal.

I'm gonna say 3.5/5, since some of the wording was awkward. Still loved it, though.

    10. haha, now. and they wonder why this fandom is universally ostracised. it is essentially furries meet fanfics, with all sorts of predictable outcomes

      >Implying that:

-This is any worse than any other fandom out there.
      -Furries don't write fics/stories.
      -Your opinion is valued.

    12. That was actually really cute.

    13. I'm glad I read The Unshorn Fetlocks Edition on Google docs instead, because the jump in the cleaner version from the conversation in the mare's room to QB waking up the next morning is really sudden. The scene in the rain (well, what happens before they MAKE a scene in the rain...) was really important.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading this, because it wasn't just two mane characters building up to a kiss like some shipping stories, but an attempt at exploring sexuality and accepting changes in life and all that. The "conflict" of the story was more than just, "Oh, we shouldn't... we couldn't... SMOOCH" and I appreciated it. Also, there were a couple really spot-on comedic moments for me.

My constructive criticism would be that more than a couple of Hairspray's lines read like they are from a trashy romance novel. Remember: a transgendered individual isn't trying to desperately act the part of the other gender, they legitimately feel that way, so exaggerating it so hard doesn't seem right. Do you know any women who would talk that way? I don't think I've ever met one.

    14. Left a comment on dA, but I will repeat myself.

We still love and tolerate you, despite your hate and failed attempt at trolling!

      @CupcakesNom

What's funny is I was GOING for the trashy romance novel style in writing this. Also, I dunno. I do know girls and MtF girls who talk like this? Maybe I just know the wrong women?

    16. seriously though, I never thought I would WANT to read an uncensored one of these before this... it's that good

      ReplyDelete
    17. Normally I wouldn't go near a shipping fic between characters let alone those of the same sex or transgendered.

Though After quickly clicking and exiting a few times curiosity got the best of me and I read the uncensored version. Not bad never thought I would find my self reading a fic like this or dealing with a subject as such.

    18. Well, this is surely a very particuliar take on the subject, especially since it was put on a Pony subject.

I understand why you chose to have 2 separate versions, the uncensored one being quite ''special'', for those unprepared.
For me, this was nothing that an Old, open-minded Veteran of the Internet can't handle ;).
I have seen some horrible takes on that subject, but this one was quite succesful, I must say.

Good characterization, acceptance of a difficult point by the characters, and I'm getting lost in what I really want to say I think...
Anyways, you juggled quite admirably with the different concepts, without falling into too much explicit BUT enough to show a bit of reality in the scenes... or something.

      ...yeah, it was good. :)

I can only wish that would really happen. I would totally be down to do MPLPT3K thing with people, heh.

Seriously though I almost died reading that comment.

    20. Nope, there was some pinkie dash shipping in there. Because no story is complete with out it.

    21. Adorable!

Even if I am now filled with the desire to see a different fic with a spontaneousness zen calm Pinkie for absolutely no reason.

      ReplyDelete
    22. Well. That was... Interesting.
I read both version, I don't know why I was surprised when I found out the secret but it lead to a decent read.

It was certainly interesting how you made derpy, Quaterback's sister. And you generally characterized each pony. Really well. And this is honestly the first story I've read with these special.... Conditions.

Its a good story. I liked it.

    23. I have to voice my support of this story any chance I get. It's adorable and a damn good tale despite the transgender theme if that ain't your thing.

    24. @CupcakesNom

Trans ponies come in all personality types. :) Some are ultra girlie-girl, some aren't. I'm more of the latter myself, and I served as Roy's LGBT consultant on this piece. Hairspray is a little stereotypically fabulous in some ways-- yet definitely not over the top, IMHO-- but she's also adorable, the way Roy writes her :) (And that picture! Soo cute.)

As for the romance-novel-ishness... that was actually kind of the intended tone of this piece, AFAIK... a sort of "romance novel" feel.

    25. I have the weirdest boner right now.

    26. hm. I honestly wasn't expecting this to be all that great, and only read it out of boredom. Now I'm really glad I did, it's very well done, and I actually really approve of how it discusses sexuality and acceptance. And actually, I'm happily surprised at how well this story was recieved given that most of us came from the darker areas of the internet, where it's the norm to act homophobic and hateful. thanks bronies for being decent human beings.

    27. @Roy G. Biv

Nope, it just seems like I don't know enough interesting women! It seems that your intended style impressed a lot of people, so I'm glad it worked out for you. :D

      @Purple Tinker

I can't argue with that. She's definitely cute! I just know that if any partner of mine ever used some of those lines on me I'd laugh, not feel complimented... But, that's me. I'm not a hoofball star, that's for sure.

    28. You know what?

      I don't hate it.

In fact, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

      What's up with that? D:
