Tumblr Spotlight: Random Gifting is Magic Program

I have to admit I wasn't quite sure where to put this little gem, but since there is a tumblr component to it I thought I'd dust off the old Tumblr Spotlight feature just for this awesome little idea. Recently I received a piece of artwork out of the blue coming from the artist that runs this program which I soon found out whose sole purpose was to cheer up those who had been feeling down, had a rotten week or to give encouragement to someone who was awesome.

It isn't just random though, you have to be nominated by someone else and entered in to have the possibility of being chosen so don't go on nominating yourself, everyone. In a pony world where the show is ending and many of us are feeling down, I thought I'd give this little project a bump to help get it off the ground and help out those in need of a little cheer this time of year.

It really is nice to see a touch of kindness in the world. Check on after the break for some more examples as well as a message from the creator and links to where you can nominate someone you think is deserving!

d20 Pony - 650 Page Reader-Chosen Story on Tumblr

We've got a neat project here starring a "Reader decides" style story going on over on Tumlbr. Or the exact description:

d20 Pony is a text adventure fan fiction starring Trailblazer, a young earth pony explorer in modern Equestria.

With over 650 illustrated pages and counting, this lighthearted story follows the everyday life of our hero through the commands of its readers.

Will you discover closely guarded secrets? Will you unearth valuable treasures? Will you simply attempt to flirt with every other pony you meet?

It was sitting around in review due to the scope of it, but I'm pretty sure it's fine, and the art looks great. They also cashed in their free "Get on EQD" card, so there's that.  Start the journey over here. You have a long way to go to catch up to it's current arc.

Tumblr Evacuation Manifest - Need Help Gathering Artist Galleries

With the change in Tumblr policy that is affecting not only NSFW creators but SFW creators due to Tumblr's horribly buggy flagging system many creators are leaving the site and are setting up shop elsewhere. Whether that be deviantart, Twitter, Furaffinity, or wherever the exodus has already begun.

The problem is it can be hard to locate where your favorite artists may have relocated to. This puts artists in a precarious situation as a lot of them used Tumblr as their homebase where they have the greatest number of their fans.

To hopefully make the evacuation in the coming days a bit easier I have started a prototype Google Sheet that will contain information on where you can find artist's galleries now that they have fled tumblr.

We can't do this without the help of artists out there as well as their fans as Seth and myself can't find every single artist that has moved to another web platform.

Tumblr Is Banning Clop (And ALL Adult Content) on December 17th

In order to provide a "safe place for creative expression" (or a safer place for advertisers in our opinion~) Tumblr will no longer allow any adult content starting on the 17th of December. Any Tumblr blog found with explicit material will be removed.

Considering many artists in the fandom rely on and have built up humongous followings over there over the years, this is a massive blow on the pony side. Artists gotta eat, and a lot of them do that through the much higher demand and commission price for NSFW material. Suddenly having the rug pulled out of communities they have created in the last 8 years of pony hurts.

Many are already migrating over to Twitter since rumors of this have been circulating for a while, but re-starting is never an easy process. At the end of the day, social networks are the best way to get noticed and broadcast your work to a loyal following. Losing one without an alternative is never good.

Unfortunately they are vague on what constitutes "adult content", and even admit that filtering this type of content isn't easy, so even suggestive stuff might be nuked. Many an artist out there has a non-explicit pony butt or two uploaded among their SFW content. Hopefully they are safe, though we won't know until the culling begins on the 17th.

Celestia Day Tumblr Spotlight: Ask The Solar Destroyer - A JJ and Calpain Ask Blog

Hey guys! Some weeks ago my good friend JJ and I really fell in love with 'A Royal Problem' and came together to start a new tumblr starring Daybreaker (me writing and JJ arting). It took a lot of planning to get it ready for Celestia Day, but we've now got the intro up for all of you to hopefully enjoy and we're currently taking questions to answer in future updates.

The tumblr takes place in an alternate universe where Nightmare Moon wasn't defeated and, having found herself cornered, Celestia embraces the power of Daybreaker. Expect silly, fun and occasionally risque updates to come!

Tumblr Spotlight: Ask Frigid Drift Animated

The creator of Frigid Drift has done a number of animations for the fandom over the years and now they are animating questions asked of their OC Frigid Drift in a unique twist of the Ask Blog that has become a common staple of Tumblr.

With high production values and cute VAs it's worth checking out! And in an age where the tumblrpon universe has greatly shrunk it's a breath of fresh air to see the medium used in such a creative way.

Halloween Tumblr Spotlight: Ask Ditzy Ghoul / Rainbow Factory Dash

It's Halloween time guys and to help spread a little of the holiday spirit I'm here with some of our more ghoulish tumblrs I had stashed away for awhile now. We've got a little bit of Fallout Equestria for you all and a couple tumblrs focused on telling their own version of the ancient pony fic Rainbow Factory.

Interesting New Tumblr Dedicated to Pony Themed High-End Recipes

A new tumblr blog has opened up showing off recipes for various pony themed snacks. Each one has pretty much every detail you'd need to craft your own version of what is shown. So far three recipes are available, including the muffin above, Applejack themed cinnamon apple chips, and a Rainbow Dash punch.

I wonder if we could spin an event off of something like this? How many of you out there want to cook pony themed things?

Phew, the tumblr list is getting shorter and shorter my friends! I spent a good part of the day sorting through old emails, weeding out dead tumblrs and ones I had already used but had not filed. Tumblr Spotlight: The Horse Wife

Every so often a tumblr comes along that knocks the socks off of people, myself included. The Horse Wife has only been around for about half a month, but it's frequent updates and absolutely adorable art and story have propelled it to the 3000 follower range already!

The premise is simple, but incredibly effective. A pony from Equestria has found her way to our world and has fallen in love, so much so she has married the guy. Following her innocent naivety while adjusting to human life at the same time, join her and her husband as she conquers the washing machine, the evil Science Oven, and the terrors of Meat Day!
