Music: Henni - Beautiful Smile [House]

Sometimes it's nice to have music that seems to have one purpose - and that's to convey joy and happiness. Henni's recent Wonderful Friends EP sets out exactly with that goal in mind and to me, Beautiful Smile accomplishes it fantastically. Upbeat synths playfully dance around some really upbeat progressions, and it definitely leaves me with a smile. Give it a listen below!

Version 4.0 of Fall of Anterfold Now Released

Progress on Fall of AnterFOLD has really been fast paced as they are pleased to announce the release of version 4.0 of the project. With some UI, game play and other fixes the game just keeps getting better and better.

Music: 174UDSI - To The Stars And Beyond [House]

174UDSI is back with a new house track that has a distinctly space-y theme to it. There's some cool vocals that have some heavy effects on them to make them pretty spooky, and of course UDSI's trademark bouncy and fun melodies. Some extra little robotic sounds in the break help to convey the atmosphere, and overall it's a pretty upbeat piece. Check it out below!

Editorial: How Should the Cutie Mark Crusaders Grow In Season 7 and Beyond?

We are in a relatively strange place when it comes to the Cutie Mark Crusaders right now. Their Primary reason for being in the show has finally been reached, but they still don't seem to really grasp what their a actual destinies are. The question is, what exactly should they be doing going forward? Is this cutie mark assistance business really what they were meant to do? Or are they once again chasing something in the wrong direction?

People that were kids when the show first started are now adults! Should they evolve with them?

Giant Pinkie Pie on a Float in Germany

The Cologne Carnival event had a wagon dedicated to all things girly this year, complete with a giant Pinkie Pie and a bunch of other pink things. We don't have full confirmation in this, but apparently it's supposed to be sort of an anti-sexual harassment thing based on the 2015 version of the carnival.

Regardless of message, that's a good looking Pinkie Pie!

Electronic Music: Midnight Musician - Cider Party (MrMehster Remix) [Electro House] / Hay Tea - Shades Of Pink (PhonicB∞m Remix) [Dubstep]

A couple of remixes here, from MrMehster and PhonicB∞m. Midnight Musician's original track, Cider Party was a bit of a big room house banger, and MrMehster has kept the original feeling to it whilst turning it into a more traditionally styled electro house tune. A strong melodic lead in the drop especially helps to convey some nice energy. The second piece is a bit heavier, with Phonic throwing some pretty cool heavy drops together alongside great use of Pinkie Pie vocal samples throughout the piece that help to give it an interesting flavour. Check them both out below!

Pony Babies - "Villains Need Love Too!"

It's ponies, as babies, making baby noises, and doing baby things. If you are baby averse like me, it is terrifying. If you aren't, I heard it's really cute.

Trixent's been one of my recent favourites in the drum & bass scene, so it's cool to see him take his shot at remixing a track from Hay Tea, one of the others who has been doing great recently. With some great use of the samples from the original to help build an atmosphere, it then builds into some great gritty rolling bass design, with some cool fills and piano to help complement it. Check it out below for some smooth dark vibes!

EqG Starlight Glimmer, Daring Do, New Character and More Buried in MLP Site

Looks like through some sleuthing on the new MLP site fans have uncovered some character models for Starlight Glimmer, Daring Do, a new character named Juniper Montage and more in the site code! With some of these popping up previously during Toy Fair it looks like we can probably expect them in the coming specials.

John de Lancie Really Just isn't Sure if He Is on Season 7

Continuing the news from a few days ago about Discord's lack of a Season 7 presence, John de Lancie replied to a worried fan asking him to confirm if he is or isn't included.

The reality is, he really just doesn't seem to know. Based on past experiences, he has always been somewhat distant from the actual scenes he's playing in the show outside of recording them. His new response makes light of that in particular:

I'm thinking this really is something we will just have to wait and see on. The way voice acting works could mean he recorded lines a year ago for something he isn't really clued in on.

A new map, which I assume is for the Equestria Girls specials this summer, has appeared thanks to on the main Equestria Girls site which shows off more of their world. Right now it doesn't seem to be something you can interact with but I imagine there will be more to this as time wears on.

Orchestral Music: Zephysonas - The Hour Of Twilight / GhostXb - Not So Resilient

Orchestral music again! There's been a lot of that released recently and the epic stuff just keeps coming. First up is Zephysonas with a slowly building and powerful track about Twilight Sparkle. As more elements enter in throughout the piece, it becomes steadily more complex, which helps to convey a sense of increasing scale over time. The second piece is similar, and yet quite different. The similar swell effect occurs in this piece, however here it is done through clever increase of tension through the same elements becoming more and more taut and intense before a beautiful calm in the second half. Both pieces beautiful in different ways, and well worth giving a listen!

Discussion: How Do You Want Season 7 To Start?

We ended season 6 with a brand new race and some epic revenge planned from Chrysalis against our newest Glimmy horse, and the possibilities going into the 7th season are pretty much endless. Many a scenario could start us off this year, and I'm sure I'm not the only one already brainstorming ideas I'd love to see explored in our opener.

Assuming they follow the usual trend, we should get a two-parter to get going. What do you want to see them dedicate 44 minutes of cartoon horse to? Should they pick up where they left off in season 6? Or explore an entirely new topic? Maybe a mysterious equine race with leathery wings and tiny fangs....

Music: Reverbrony - Unbound [Metal] / Spectra - Serenity [Acoustic]

Time for some guitar-based music of pretty contrasting styles! First up is some heavy metal from Reverbrony, wasting no time in taking control of your senses with aggressive guitar tones and pounding percussion. The melodies played by the cleaner guitar are especially enjoyable in this piece and the energy of the track keeps up the whole way through. In the second spot Spectra winds us down with a very pretty acoustic piece that definitely conveys the feeling of Applejack taking some time out. The chill vibes are apparent, and well worth giving a listen!

GalaCon Announces Michelle Creber and BlackGryph0n

GalaCon has announced two more guests of honor.
After their attendance in 2015, Michelle Creber and BlackGryph0n will return to GalaCon for the 2017 edition of the convention.

Orchestral Music: Jyc Row - The Ancient Elements / Elias Frost - Royal Duty

Some more orchestral music from Jyc Row and Elias Frost is always nice to see! First up Jyc explores the outer reaches of Equestria, with a piece inspired by this beautiful art from ziom05. It has a lot of his usual celtic influences that play a large part in the soundscape here, and there's some great thudding percussion as well that helps to give the idea of an epic journey. The second piece from Elias is much more reserved, with soft strings and piano that feed into a more diverse range of sounds as the tracks goes on. It gets pretty folk-y towards the end, which helps to keep it interesting. Grab them both below the break!

Nightly Discussion #1000

The big day has finally arrived everyone: Nightly Discussion #1000 is good to go! I received a bunch of little things from you guys over the past week or so which I will be including after the break.

When I started the Discussions 1000 days ago I did not expect them to last this long. On the contrary they seem to have gotten more popular as time went on. Even the relatively quiet Morning Discussion has taken off and it isn't uncommon that I see 1000s of comments in every post. We may not have seen eye to eye on things now and then but I am looking forward to supplying Discussions for many many days to come. Here's to another 1000!

New Bronystudy Survey Reminder!

Something we don't get a whole lot of in the fandom, 4everfree has released some a capella music! His vocals work beautifully here, and there's some great extra mouth noises and layering of the vocals to help give it a pretty full sound. As with a lot of a capella songs, this is pretty upbeat, and it's nice to see 4everfree continue to give different styles a go. Make sure to check it out below!
