Newbie Artist Training Grounds VI: Day 22

This pony just looked so happy to go to the beach I just wanted to share him with the rest of you! Just look at that smile. Evening my friends, are you ready for day 22? You guys did well with day 21 as we received a total of 116 ponies bringing us up to 4597 ponies altogether! At this rate I really think we'll break 5k by the time all is said and done.

Now are you guys ready for today's prompt? It's a bit more out there than yesterday's but I think you all can do something fun with it: draw a pony from or in the future/draw a pony out of time. As usual you can find our submitter here.

Music: Ponytronic - Crescent Lament (Vylet Remix) [Jungle Terror]

Vylet's been pumping out some really high quality music recently, and often with some really cool sound design. Here he's taken Ponytronic's track Crescent Lament and turned it into a jungle terror track. This being Vylet we're talking about though, it doesn't really stick particularly well in just one genre. Definitely one of the more unique tracks I've heard recently!

I hope that Thorax and Spike keep up their friendship even though they are separated by so many miles. Considering Spike can send messages instantly with his fire breath I wonder if Twilight can come up with some sort of 'instant messaging' system for the two?

Editorial: Feedback, Comments, and Why a Creative Fandom Like Ours Needs You to Do It More!

We've all been here for up to six years now, and it's sometimes hard to come up with new things to say when browsing through deviant art pages, EQD posts, Youtube videos, or wherever else. As with most fandoms and online communities in general, the majority of the viewership tends to simply view, as opposed to interact.

The pony fandom has always been a different type of entity though. The huge amount of meetups and conventions out there are sort of a testament to how well we have taken the spirit of the show in and gone out of our way to take that lurking internet mentality and form it into something more real. One thing we have become relatively light on though, is feedback!

So, if you are someone who just browses or simply want some motivation to help a pony creator, or even us at EQD out for very little effort on your part, head on down below for a short editorial!

Update: People make a good point. If you are a content creator, be sure to respond if someone asks something too! Otherwise they are less likely to comment in the future.

Twilight Sparkle Gives the Crystal Empire 4 out of 5 Stars! Now Added to MLP Website

For those collecting badges and following the lore posted up on the My Little Pony website for each location, the Crystal Empire has now been listed, complete with bios of the ponies in residence, videos clips, and reviews from both Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle. Turns out neither of them thought the place was perfect, but they loved it regardless. Maybe that has something to do with the world shattering events they always run into when visiting the place.

Forum Mascot Name Chosen! EQD Patreon Supporter Forum Tiers Added!

For all the people taking part in the madness that is our new forums, we now have a name, as chosen by the masses, for the forum mascot. Introducing Cora Spondence! Chatty Batty came in pretty close, but in the end, Cora wins! Hopefully we can find something fun to do with her, but for now she will simply be our go-to bat for forum based events.

If you are currently taking part in both the forums and the Patreon, we've also added a new tier system for anyone contributing to the site. Well, here I am with my first music post! ApostropheShy is a relatively new musician, having started releasing pony content about 6 months ago, and they've already made a lot of improvement since then! This one is a happy major key party track dedicated to Pinkie Pie, and it's definitely succeeded in capturing her likeness in musical form. New Music Writer - ExplodingPonyToast! - Music System Being Revamped

Hey everybody, I’m ExplodingPonyToast, new music writer for EQD!

I suppose it would be good to go into a bit of fandom history about myself, just so you all know who I am. I’ve been a brony ever since late 2011, and right from the get-go music has always been the most interesting part of it for me. At the end of 2011, myself and my friend Sellyme created a list of the top pony music of the year, which was then broadcast on Everfree Radio. I started creating my own pony music in 2012, and in early 2014 I became an admin of the compilation-album group Ponies at Dawn, which I’m now the lead organiser of. In 2016 I was apart of the opening of a music-specific blog site known as Horse Music Herald, which is dedicated to posting a wide variety of the fandom’s music in a similar way to the methods we’ll be trying out here at EQD now.

So basically I’ll be posting up music tracks with proper descriptions so you can more easily tell if a track is something you’re going to be interested in, something that Sethisto hasn’t had the time to do himself in the past due to his many other EQD-related commitments. I hope you’re all excited for this new chapter in EQD’s music posting, because I certainly am!

It's always nice to see the darker tones and ideas that fanfics can pull off, although the Season 5 finale definitely gave those stories a run for their money. A new pony convention is planned for October of next year over in Vegas. If that sounds interesting to you, go get the presser below!

The "Cutie Map Quest" Book May Be Hinting at Upcoming "Viva Las Pegasus" and "Top Bolt" Episodes

An activity book released over on Amazon back on August 2nd has a few different locations and storylines inspired directly by the show. Buried within it's pages are "Quests" involving both Griffonstone and Manehattan, each of which roughly follow their respective episodes.

It goes a bit further though, with sections for a "Las Pegasus Quest" and "Wonderbolts Quest", both not following any previous episodes at all. These two actually introduce brand new characters and storylines, with pony models far too detailed for the usual pony models these activity books usually churn out if they need a new equine to further a story. Based on the earlier episode sections, it's looking like these may be hints at what we will see in both "Viva Las Pegasus" and "Top Bolt".

LAST Spotlight Music Post: Raise This Barn (Sayonara Remix) / Stuck in the Sky / Acid Trap

Later today, we are retiring the old Spotlight Music style and going for a different one with a brand new music writer. I'll let him do his own introductions, but the general idea will be switching to a single post format for music instead of the three per, with a LOT more commentary to give you all an idea on what you are diving into.

We also have a new review system with new people going in, which will probably mean these posts are a bit stricter than normal.

Hopefully this new style will help you all find the best of the best pony music here a bit better on EQD!
