I have been trying to enforce some kind of quality control on PMV's lately. Hopefully it's helping some! For the most part stuff with barely any synch is getting turned down. I'm still really lenient, but I'm sure most people are sick of seeing the entire sonic rainboom scene with rock music and the opening to episode 1 with sad music at this point. It's a product of only having 26 episodes to play with sadly.
Also #3 is now deemed the lolwut slot, so have some ridiculous Trixie.

Why is Pinkie Pie the best random character ever? I usually don't like the obnoxious crazy weird side character that always plagues cartoons, but somehow Pinkie Pie just does it...right.
And as is the norm for this fandom, another background pony with literally 2 seconds of screentime has spawned an entire comic....filled with shipping.
I love you guys.

This is about as close as we're going to get to real ponies unless someone invents a portal to Equestria. Thanks for this heads-up goes to Tailszefox.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of augmented reality, it's pretty much what it sounds like. Computer-generated elements are superimposed upon the real world in real time and tracked intelligently using a variety of sensors (like cameras, gyroscopes, or solid state compasses) in order to give the user more information about their environment. You can use this technology with a smartphone, for example, to detect text in a foreign language and replace it with your own in real time. The technology isn't widely used yet, but it's gaining ground as our processing power and detection algorithms improve.
A pony has taken this concept and added ponies. You simply print out the markers and use your existing webcam and computer to track and replace the three-dimensional position of the marker with your favorite pony.
You can find the application here. It runs in Flash and is a hefty download, so be patient. Print out your markers in the meantime. -
Another new...strange pony has popped up! I wonder if Hasbro plans to add any of these recolors to the show?

Budding Friendships is a currently-in-progress Harvest Moon style game involving ponies. Assuming the role of a famer pony (I think that's actually the character pictured above), you take over a rundown ranch at the edge of the Everfree Forest, and through a lot of hard work and by forming lasting bonds of friendship with the ponies of Ponyville, turn it into something you can be proud of.
So far, the team of ponies in charge of this project have put together most of the underlying framework and core mechanics. Movement's possible, and time passes, as marked by a nifty little night-and-day wheel. You can see some screenshots after the break. They were even ambitious enough to set a tentative release date for a fully finished and super playable version, but I know enough about development cycles that I'm not going to shackle them to that. But if you're interested in commenting and following along more closely, check out their Canterlot forum thread here.
