The background ponies in the latest episode were pretty cute and varied I must admit! It's crazy how many ponies are out there for artists in our fandom to draw from, huh?

Ratings for Canterlot Boutique are finally in and the numbers are pretty decent despite the mini-hiatus! Nothing less for our favorite fashionista, right? Canterlot Boutique saw 430,000 viewers, which is a small increase over Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep which scored a solid 418,000 viewers!
Hopefully things stay steady through the rest of the season!

We officially have a pair of mascots now, but a ton of you sent enough submissions to literally deadlock us for a summer on deciding what to do. Filly and Mare? Mare sisters? Single Pony? Colt and Mare? In the end, we decided to go with #4 after more fighting than is possibly healthy in EQD chat (mainly against me and my sisters bias). Seriously, those debates got heated!
We may be making a few changes if Couch Crusader's updates in the chat are any indication for Rocket, but Spotlight is pretty set in stone at the moment. It may not be a bat pony and her filly gamer sister (I'd be all for that, not gonna lie), but it should be a fun pair once we get going with them.
As promised, we have all the submissions compiled up for you all to dig into. People from all around the fandom sent ponies in, with awesome plans all around. Unfortunately, if we go over 70 images some of your computers explode, so we are splitting the post up. The first 30 you may have seen already, the other 40 here are new.

We've got something extra special for you all today! Lauren Faust sketches of characters from the show have been relatively rare, only appearing for auction or sale a few times here on EqD, with the most notable being the wave of production sketches she sold for charity for the Japanese earthquake back in 2011.
Now a good friend of mine has decided to offer up his sketch of Vinyl Scratch from Lauren for charity with all funds going to the Wildlife Learning Center. This sketch is the very first Vinyl ever drawn by Lauren (as verified by her handwriting on the pic) as she had already left ponies by the time Vinyl made her appearance.

Destiny. Now there's a word I have very mixed feelings about. Boiling down its most basic definition, destiny is the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.
Was Sombra always destined become both a king and a villain? The comics seem to support this idea, but if it were absolutely true then we wouldn't have an alicorn Trixie in the Reflections universe. Twilight would be an alicorn there as well.
Which begs the question of what is destiny. Is it something pre-ordained or is it something that is ultimately chosen on an individual level? And once it has ultimately arrived, can one change their fate?
