EQD Music Update - Music Queues, Top 6 Limits, and More

Hello everyone, Hypermark here! A few days ago I pushed a myriad of changes to EQD Music; most of them are back-end stuff (Cereal does not like me using goto's). Videos are now approved in a queue, and every hour a new video will show up (though this timing will change as music comes in at different rates). The time a video can remain in "Today's top 6" is also limited to 3 days. This should keep content fresh.

Bug fixes

• The “Other” option should no longer glitch in Firefox
• Submit page should now say if a video has been submitted

Next Update

I'm planning on the next update being fairly big. The front page will be completely redone, search enhanced, and some other third thing. I've noticed a few stale aspects to the site that I plan to address in this next update.

Further On

Eventually I plan to add a random button, playlist, albums, and possibly artist pages.

EQD Music Returns - Search Added, Timberwolves Ate the Vote Database!

So a few days ago I hopped on EQD Music for Trixie music, and couldn't find any due to it being a pain in the moonbutt to browse through it all.  So I called Hypermark up at 4AM and told him to hurry up with the search section.  Now we can search!

Right now, like everything else on the site, it's very much in the testing phase, but the key features of it seem to be working smoothly enough.  Dropping "dubstep" into the advanced search section with vocal checked will give you a list of all vocal dubstep tracks, or you can narrow it down to just vocal show remix dubstep.  You can also search by musician, though it's using their Youtube accounts.  Luckily most musicians label their titles with their pony fandom name, so searching "Forest Rain" or "Tombstone" usually grabs all of the songs that have been sent in from those specific artists.

Now on to the bad news!  Unfortunately while transferring to a different server in an attempt to fix the downtime issues, the votes were lost due to a random parasprite in the system.  That's what beta tests are for though!  Everything else save for a few tracks submitted right before the migration should still be intact.  If you can't find yours, send it again!

And another note on top music: We are still looking for a good way to limit the amount of time a song can spend up on the front page.  Hopefully once all is said and done, we can lock songs out of there every few days.

EQDMusic Updates - The Flood, The Explosions, and the Future!

As many of you probably have noticed, we launched a side music site a little over a week ago.  So far things have been much smoother than we originally thought, at least from the standpoint of it didn't completely explode.

As we continue on with testing it's functionality and move forward with the beta, quite a few things have been changed.  The expected flood of old tracks has finally slowed down enough to actually start using it.  As I mentioned in the previous post, we were originally going to limit all submissions to 2013 onward, but decided against that.  We did add one big change the other day though, that limits the top list to only allow stuff from this year (though all-time remains all-time, and show remix is a little derpy still) .

To further help the spotlight aspect of the site, we are going to try to implement a timer of a few days for songs on the top list.  The way it works now gives those songs a bit too much time (counting votes per day, which the songs on the front page inevitably get. ).

Voting in itself has gone through a pile of changes, with a more reddit style approach.  There are a few captcha bugs for first time voters, but hopefully we get these squeezed out as we move on with the beta.   The majority of this site happens on the backend, so Hypermark is pretty busy keeping everything rolling.  

Other things we hope to add:

• Album support
• A working categories page (It has some pretty big overhauls in the works) 
• A widget for the EQD sidebar that displays songs recently added
• Mobile support
• A few more tags (Metal for one.)  
• Search bar

EQD Music has been successfully launched thanks to you guys populating it with music. We hope to improve on its functionality in the coming months, and we're already implementing fixes for common issues.
