Sable Symphony and Stealing Shad3Z are here with some pretty neat tunes! First up Sable's new track I Am Not Perfection is about Celestia trying to explain that she isn't perfect, despite the position of power that she finds herself in. The lyrics convey that pretty well and the instrumental is super heavy. Secondly we've got a cover of the new Sia song from the movie, and Shad3Z' vocals work so very well, adapting the original into a soft rock style that suits him perfectly. It's definitely the best interpretation I've heard so far. Check them both out below!

So, before I go and contemplate the meaning of getting older in a society where being young is held to such a high regard, here's the big news! Over on her twitter page, Nicole Dubuc has revealed she is the new Executive Producer for My Little Pony! Now Nicole is not a new face/name to the franchise, she has over the past year co-written with Mike Vogel the My Little Pony: Ponyville Mysteries mini-series of novels from Little, Brown and Company.
Nicole has an extensive resume in Hollywood, with her most recent job being the Creator/Story Editor/Executive Producer for Transformers: Rescue Bots. After the break, be sure to check out her tweet, and then go Celebrate in the comments the beginning of a new era in MLP!

When you've been a ruler as long as Celestia there has to be quite a few skeletons in your closet, some really old pains and scars. I really wish the show would delve into the sister's backstory sometime.

I doubt many of us thought seven years ago that we'd be lovin' cartoon horses as much as we do now. The very idea of "My Little Pony" before this crazy fandom had most of us running for the hills. It was the stuff of low end 80's cartoons, where glorified toy commercials were the norm. Surely not something that could turn into a humongous fandom with conventions all around the world, right?
The stigma still remains if the movie reviews have been any indication, but all of us here watching this show and the millions of fans across the globe aren't addicted to it because we want to buy toys. Lauren Faust created something amazing when she pitched modern MLP to Hasbro, and we discovered a quality that just wasn't being explored in modern day cartoons.
I don't know if Pony is the main reason for so many higher budget shows aimed at children these days, but there is no doubt that we made waves throughout the industry. Everyone wants that lightning in a bottle, and many an animation studio has started doing exactly what Lauren originally visioned - create something that both kids and their parents will get a kick out of. With fun, memorable characters, a deep and interesting world, and an art style that has inspired thousands to hop on board and draw it.

Sorry to disappoint everypony but I feel the need to clarify something before it gets out of hand... Auntie Lofty is terrible at quilting.

Update 2: There we go, confirmed and everything.
The recently released Ponyville Mysteries: Riddle of the Rusty Horseshoe actually reveals quite a bit about the home life of Scootaloo. Apparently her parents are usually away, and her father's sister "Aunt Holiday" joins her seemingly lesbian partner "Aunt Lofty" in watching over her.
The screenshot of this was floating around earlier, so we asked someone to open their physical copy to double check that it was real, and they took two pictures of the pages it takes place on.
We can't say this will be canon for the show, but the books do tend to try to stay somewhat accurate to the story built by the team over at DHX. Will this concept be explored in season 8? Considering Mike Vogel was also on board with this one in partnership with Nicole Dubuc, it would not be surprising. If anyone at Hasbro could convince them to open up to newer ideas, it's him.

With the My Little Pony Movie out, Salon decided to scoop up some bronies and ask them all sorts of things about the pony fanbase as a whole. They cover all sorts of topics, from conventions to the adult side. Most of it stays pretty well into the positive category.

I finally remembered to take a picture of the Crystal Palace!

Fine. I mean the Javits Center. It's hard to believe I've been to this building three times this year, with the amount of hours totaling over a 40 hour work week. So, what brought me to New York this past weekend?
Why New York Comic Con of course! And I was hunting for My Little Pony news! Which was in drastically short supply, especially considering My Little Pony: The Movie premiered during the weekend of the convention.
Though if its any consolation prize, Blade Running 2049 also didn't have much of a presence at the convention. So what sorts of Pony Goodness did I manage to find? Well, you'll have to check after the break to find out!

Mantlegen and Einarx always produce seriously good stuff when they work together, and that's no different here! Arguably the best of their collaborative works so far, it builds up with some awesome pony vocal chops before some heavy chords and electric guitar-style sounds transition into some crazy heavy dubstep drops full of awesome sound design.
