When Source Film Maker first dropped, tons of talented Gmod video makers made the jump. With the huge amount of models created every week for pony themed stuff, it's no surprise that this community continues to thrive!

While some of the more prolific creators were a bit light on the creation this year, a ton of new people hopped in with some excellence of their own. Below the break, get the best 10 brony SFM animations of the year!

Glimmy x Sunburst looooove. If you like the ship, you will probably like this. The Evrerfree Team is a newer group, but they have been doing quite a bit on the SFM front these last few months. I welcome them to the fold!

Kenny Young created a few SFM videos earlier into the craze, but went dark for a few years. His big return was this Owl City Octavia and Vinyl Scratch piece. It's pretty straight forward in terms of pony movement, but has some really well done atmospheric effects that draw you in. Here's hoping he doesn't take another 2 years off!

Rarity's "Deck the Halls" from the Pony Kind of Christmas album got some SFM love from one of the newer animators on the block. He did a wonderful job of making Ponyville extra festive, even if some of the movement is a bit rigid. I'm looking forward to what else he comes up with as the year goes on!

2016 didn't have a ton of super long stuff from the SFM community, so expect a few short ones in the list. Dashie decided to cut loose to a Ken Ashcorp song, and things got a bit.. steamy. Amazingly enough, this was one of the most commonly recommended for the list next to Doors and Rarispy. Avoid clicking this one if you don't want to saucy dancing, cause it went there.

JuiceboxAlvin is pretty well known for his creepy and grimdark SFM animations, so when Halloween rolled around, something like this was pretty inevitable. Fluttershy goes dark, with some Evanescence in the background to help set the scene.

Five Nights at Freddies may be way past it's prime, but we have a full set of SFM models for it that need some usage! Another creepy one from JuiceboxAlvin, dedicated to Sweetie Belle camping out in Pinkie's freaky little playcenter.

Rainbow Dash and Lyra head out on an adventure together. I've never really thought of these two doing as a pair, but it happened and it was pretty cool

If you are a fan of anime at all, this is an almost perfect parody of the common themes they use in intros. It's got action, speed, a few slow feely moments, and is overall just really well done. Yasho is still a relatively new guy with only 1000 subs who needs some of that fandom love to get going, so go do that would yah? More like this is something I want to see in 2017!

In a year where olderschool SFM animators weren't nearly as prolific, it's always awesome to see some fresh blood. Eviltacoperson came on with some of the smoothest animation in the fandom, via a perfect retelling of the classic TF2 "Meet the Spy" with the mane 6, derpy, and Big Mac playing various roles. I am greatly looking forward to seeing what he drops in 2017. Hopefully you all sub enough to keep him motivated!

Following up on the tremendous success of Doors a few years ago, the second project was pretty much inevitable. An absolute army of animators, SFM riggers, video creators, and more got together to try to one-up the previous version, and absolutely rocked it. Join Twilight as she pops into a multitude of crazy dimensions from pop culture, classic cinema, and more! I'm crossing my fingers at a third one for 2017!

If you have a Coloratura model, a piano, and are Argodaemon, I suppose this is the next step. He primarily focused 3D scenes this year with a few awesome GIFs throughout, but that doesn't mean we didn't get a bit of madness out of him.

China can SFM too! This one unfortunately didn't get a whole lot of buzz, even if it did seem to set some pretty cool looking scenes. Hopefully the fandom over there keeps cracking them out anyway.

Can't have an SFM post without some overly agressive pony memage. Equestria got Sweeped to shreds with this one.

I think Juicebox wins for most prolific of the year. It was pretty light for SFM overall. Have two more to go with his others above, each short at around 30 seconds each.

One of the least appreciated SFM animations of the year in my GRAND opinion. Truly a tragedy that it only ever hit 5000 views. What has become of this fandom?! Look at that TRIXIE!

And that about covers it. There were hundreds of tiny 10-25 second ones that we might do a big top post for, but for now we tried to stick to 30 second or greater, which wasn't too common this year surprisingly! Feel free to share any we missed in the comments.
