I've always been quite impressed how fast artists can improve! The one who did the header above sent me art not too long ago that I thought had potential and now they've been able to show me that they can do some pretty awesome backgrounds and give ponies a unique style to boot!

A few weeks ago, we posted up a bit of news about the possible bad situation for Friendship is Magic over in Japan. Unfortunately, their online store looked to be getting the axe, and in-store displays shut down. We haven't heard anything about a season three yet over there, so our half a year of Japan Time posts may have been the end of it.
Japan is a curiosity for a lot of us over in the West. With anime ever growing in popularity, and both of our cultures melding on all sorts of oddities, sometimes it's fun to try to draw comparisons.
So how does the land of the adorable anime eyes see our cute cartoon horses? What does the fandom over there celebrate about the show? We grabbed someone going by the name of Sakura Cheetah for a quick interview to get an inside look into Japanese pony culture.

Some new painting looking things were found at Hobby Lobby, joining those tins we posted a while back. There are actually two more for Celestia and Rainbow Dash, though they all seem to use the usual vectors. The Luna is cute though. Thanks to Charles and Jeremy for sending those!

Winter still keeps chugging away here in the northern hemisphere, with all its grey and white it can be easy to get a bit bummed by all the bad weather. Fortunately we have just the thing to help spread a little cheer!
Three years ago (already?) the episode 'Friend in Deed' aired and brought tons of smiles to our faces with the extremely awesome and aptly named Smile Song! So, in a collaboration with Sprocket from DHN, we decided to do a tiny event: just make someone smile in the next 24 hours.
At this point I'll let my friend Sprocket take over as he was the mastermind behind the idea. Check out what he has to say after the break!
