    Future of Pony in Japan

With the second season drawing to a close some of you might be curious about season 3 and beyond. Well, a pony fan named Mark has assembled some good info that you can find below:

Some vague info on the future of MLP in Japan. It may not be enough to go on, but official sources are being a little coy on the subject for now.

As you know, MLP got an initial order of 52 episodes by TV Tokyo and just aired #51 today. So the series is almost over, leaving Japanese fans to wonder if the series will get a reorder or if it'll end. TV Tokyo has a history of canning American cartoons after the first initial 52 episode order and not renewing them (the 2003 4Kids TMNT cartoon didn't get renewed past 52 eps and Transformers Prime as ended at 52 eps).

Well, according to the official site's news feed beginning April 1st, the series will keep it's Tuesday 7:30am timeslot but will enter a special rerun series called "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Best Selection". Rather than just rerun the show from the start, they're going to run "the best episodes" for an undetermined length of time.

The Japanese Wiki article for MLP lists airdates for "The Crystal Empire" parts 1 and 2, but these appear to be preemptive guesses and are not correct (they list "Crystal Empire part 1" as April 1st, when the official site has confirmed the Best Selection reruns for that date).

This Japanese fan's MLP blog has an interesting and feasible suggestion, though. He postulates that the Best Selection series will run for 13 episodes before segueing into new episodes. That way the 13 Best Selection reruns combined with Season 3 (13 episodes) and Season 4 (26 episodes) will add up to 52 episodes, the necessary number for a complete year-long run.

Bushi Road has begun selling merch featuring Princess Twilight in Japan (the school year calendar he has pictured) so it seems likely they intend to continue with new episodes and the Best Selection reruns are just a formality.

No concrete word from the official sources, though. We may hear something once episode 52 airs next week, but Japanese scheduling seems to be a hectic and unpredictable thing with lots of last minute changes, so even Bushi Road and TV Tokyo may not know for sure.

    Tonight's Groups Looking For More

    Pony Pin Indiegogo

We are starting a father and son venture to become quality jewelry and collectible makers. We need a little extra funding to get the equipment we need to raise the quality of products and maintain a competitive price. Better equipment will help us keep our prices low and provide a better end product.

In order to achieve this goal we are running a fund raising campaign based around 1 1/2" collectible pins. We also hope to sell the pin designs as pendants, and possibly other formats.
