Ponyland was pretty well merged with the rest of the races of Equestria at the end of Season 9, and that kind brings on some interesting questions about inter-species politics. Are ponies the "dominant" species in Equestria due to Celestia and Luna essentially moving the sun and moon? Or do you think Yaks, Griffons, and other races have some say in the government? Maybe they are all just completely isolated and expect pony society to be stable enough to never have to worry about not waking up one day to the sun not rising?
