April Fools is just about over here in blog-time, and I really wish I had time to hit a few more categories for Brony Appreciation Day. I'm going to nail some that I missed that really did deserve a compilation, but I underestimated how much time these posts would take to make. I really love the history we have here as a community, and didn't want to half-ass them. Maybe I'll do an extension some time!

I apologize to anyone out there that wanted our usual silly April Fools shenanigans, but with COVID-19 being a nightmare and the show over, I really felt like this would be a good excuse to just dedicate a day to us. We've been through a lot. A decade is a 3rd of my life, and even more for many of you. Sometimes it's nice to just reflect and appreciate what we've all built.

I remember way back before the pony years when Anime Music Videos were all the rage. Video editing was still a relatively new thing for hobbyists to do a decade ago. People forget that Youtube was only 5 years old when Friendship is Magic released!

With how appealing the designs of the characters in this show are, it was inevitable that we'd want to convert scenes into music videos. Little did we know that a veritable tsunami of these would inundate us.  There was such a flood,  that the genre of "Pony Music Video" was born, becoming an entity of it's own!

Brony Appreciation Day - A Shoutout to Fanfic Writers!

Nothing expands the show better than the fanfiction side of the fandom! Writing is something we are all taught throughout our school years, making this one of the most accessible sections of pony for people to venture into. It takes a lot of practice and dedication to write well though. Especially when it comes to shifting away from the essay format drilled into us in high school into the world of creativity.

Fortunately, we have a TON of people willing to put their skills into creating some of the most iconic stories fanfiction has ever seen!

Brony Appreciation Day - A Shoutout to Brony Crafters!

My Little Pony has a 30 year history of crafty fans creating their own merchandise when Hasbro doesn't deliver exactly what they want. The unfortunate side effect of a massive company is needing to focus on pumping out mass produced figures on simple molds rather than carefully crafting super high quality collectables.

The Brony world took this concept and expanded it beyond what anyone has ever done before. Thanks our techy audience with it's big wallets and need for pony that many a fan of this show craves, crafters in the fandom have had more than enough motivation to create amazing works of art to sell off to those that want to really pull their obsession with cartoon horses out of the 2D world and into the physical realm.

Below, lets celebrate all the awesome people that sculpt, sew, mold, and generally make our wallets cry at stuff we wish we could all have!

I have to admit, I'm biased. This has been always been my favorite part of the fandom. Since the earliest days on 4chan's comics and cartoon board, artists have been the lifeblood of expanding the show beyond what we got each week in 22 minute bursts. Friendship is Magic already has a super appealing style that is beloved by everyone, but so many of you have taken the concept of cute colorful ponies with anime eyes and turned them into so much more!

Music has to be my favorite part of everything. It's how I discovered MLP:FiM in the first place (well, it's what really got me interested I should say). So on this finer than fine, totally not a joke because I'm being serious, perfect opportunity for toe-tapping day, let's highlight some good brony musicians, shall we?

Lets kick this one off with one of the hardest categories in fan creation! We have amazing artists and video editors in the fandom (who we get their own shoutouts later), but what about the category that requires skills from both?

Animation is one of the rarest talents we have here in ponyland, with only a handful of people putting the ridiculous amount of time forward to actually learn it, and quadruple that doing it.They deserve all the props!

Hello from Southeast Asia. It's that time of year again where we pull out a silly fantasy and make a fun little campaign out of it. In 2017 we pretended to give out free flight tickets. In 2018 we thought we could print our own money. In 2019 we had a giggle about organising a convention in a place where everyone could be together without needing to travel.

This year we thought...what if that last one was actually not as distant a dream as we thought?

Brony Appreciation Day!

Every year, we tend to go crazy in April Fools with an all day event dedicated to some random topic, be it SPACE MARES last year or Starlight Glimmer's hostile takeover of the blog and eventual overly-dark ending where she turned everypony into statues. It may or may not have gone a little far~

Anyway, this time around with the current world already being chaotic enough, we wanted to do something a little bit more down to earth. I know laughter and fun is usually the best medicine, but I also think with 10 years of this awesome fandom under our belts, we need a good excuse to celebrate everything we've accomplished so far.
