An interesting question I think would be how the lives of our ponies might be different if say Twilight was an earth pony or Rarity a pegasus or (heaven forbid) Pinkie was a unicorn? Would they still have the same passions? While I can see some of them certainly getting along ok, Rainbow Dash at least would have to have a different dream if she wasn't a pegasus I think.
