• Artist Spotlight: Saturdaymorningproj / Kelisah / Vantardise / Punk Pegasus

Sorry for the delay of this spotlight everyone! I was traveling to a friend's place this past weekend and got busy. At any rate, we are indeed back for another edition of the Artist Spotlight! Filled with all sorts of artwork from any pony you can imagine. Check them out after the break.

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-5 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.

    Now on to the artists!

Comics have been a part of our fandom from the very beginning, starting with Madmax way way back on 4chan. Since then the art of creating comics has exploded, with artists of all sorts contributing to the comic craze (heck we have two comic posts just today!). One such artist is Saturday who creates comics that not only have a wonderful bit of humor to them, but has a Sunday paper type art quality to them as well. This style extends to his pictures as well, giving everything he does a comic book like feel. Take a look!

    Kelisah

Next up on our tour through the art world is an artist whose use of a colorful palette and expressive ponies creates some pretty dang impressive pieces of pony artwork. Kelisah's use of colors is what defines her pieces from others and is what she uses to convey feeling in her works. From muted, soft colors in a sad scene to bright and happy tones in a joyous moment you can really feel what is going on in her pieces.

    Vantardise

While most pony pieces usually come with backgrounds the lack of one doesn't detract from the overall piece if the pony portrayed is drawn with care. This can be easily demonstrated with the art by Vantardise whose ponies take on extra details than you might see in a pony plus background piece. One other advantage of drawing just the pony is the ease of which an artist can experiment with styles as they don't have to concentrate so much on making a pony match a particular background style, something that Vantardise eagerly demonstrates. Though when she does draw backgrounds, she does them with style, meshing the pony and background into one heck of a beautiful piece.

    Punk Pegasus

Last up today is an artist for you lovers of anthro ponies, fuzzy ponies, and a little bit of punk. Punk Pegasus is aptly named as his artwork deals in part with ponies that have a little bit of attitude to them which isn't a bad thing considering how cute ponies are most of the time. Don't care for that? Punk also draws normal ponies of a fluffier variety. So whether it's some anthro, pony, or punk you are sure to find something you like in Punk's gallery!
