No idea what to post so have some anthro Vinyl! Hey guys, I'm back from BronyCon for better or for worse. It's good to see you all again and get back to work and science! Expect to see more of me again in the following days.

    Now, on to the news!

    Tonight's Stories

    Positive GalaCon Article

Sounds like GalaCon went over wonderfully in Europe this past weekend! Have an article describing the event with a translation thanks to Patrick!

Life is a ponyranch. At least for the fans of American animation series "My Little Pony". And so more than 1,000 followers from both home and abroad swung their hooves and traveled gala convention, which is a fan meeting, at the weekend to the Forum in Ludwigsburg. Almost half of them came from abroad, from England, France, Poland, Italy, Russia and even Surinam.

For outsiders it is to whinny that adult people decorate themselves with yellow pony ears, place a plush pony on her shoulder, holding it in their arms and dress up fancy. A long line of colorful costumed people had gathered on Saturday afternoon in front of one of the seminar rooms. There Andrea New Libmann and Peter wrote autographs, signed poster and plastic ponies. Both are voice actors and borrow in the American original version the cartoon characters Fluttershy & Pinkie Pie and Big Macintosh their voice.

The rows in the main hall were filled tightly, as an illustrator Jon JoSeCo answered questions about himself and his work. The fans also spent their time with computer-animated games, listened to music, participated in a karaoke competition or listened to the voice actors at their panel. They are also interesting for being paying customers. And so at many sales booths plush and plastic ponies, wooden boards, towels, games and DVDs were offered around the TV series.

What is behind this phenomenon? "It's actually a children's program, which is aimed at a young female audience. Character, plot and music are of such high quality that this also addresses the elderly, "explains Jens Jasper, treasurer of the fan club “Bronies from Stuttgart”. This fan meeting was organized for the second time. It cost 69€ (~91.50$) to be part of the two-day meeting here. A scientific explanation sought Gerjet Betker, called Weatherhoof, the senior PR manager of the meet-up. He described the typical fan as a "male, internet affine and mid 20's,". This type of pop culture developed troughthe internet. A meme is something when a link, an image, song or video file quickly spreads over the Internet. This category also includes the song "Gangnam Style" made by Psy, which is the most successful internet video of all time and got popular within a few weeks. "Wheaterhoof ponyfied version of my nickname," said Gerjet Betker, while yellow pony ears are sticking out from his hair. The green wings in the corner belong to a helper who dresses up as his favorite character. Betker himself stumbled into the fandom in summer 2011 - only a few weeks before the internet hype had begun. Also, the tickets for the fan meeting were sold on the Internet and were sold out in the first wave within two hours. "This had only lasted until the servers went offline," says Betker.

"It's great to slip just once in another role," said Melanie (17), who had traveled from the Schwarzwald (= region in Germany). She wore a purple wig, tight mini dress and high heels. Rarity is her favorite character which is a pony who is really into fashion. "You don’t have to live in the same place or know the names of others. You just belong to the group, "said Helena aka Rainbow Dash with a colorful wig on her head. Kevin, also 17, had slipped into the role of cheerful Pinkie Pie. The parents see the enthusiasm okay. "This is better than getting drunk," said Kevin.

We have a bunch of interesting and friendly members doing all sorts of different things, such as Carnanty, who is leaving for Basic Training soon, or BlizzardofOz, the designer behind a ship featured in the official trailer for Starmade! The Faction offers plenty of opportunities for advancement, and is extremely active!
If you haven't played Starmade, now is a great time to start! While in alpha, the game is completely free!
