My Little Pony - The Comic Adventures!

Magical pony tales, not just for kids

    Stuttgart, July 15th, 2013

The small, cute and very colourful horses of My Little Pony are every little girl’s dream. The cartoon - airing on Nickelodeon, based upon Hasbro’s My Little Pony-toyline - is enormously popular, attracting fans of all ages. For these fans, Panini will publish the My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic comics from October 2013 onwards.

Issue #1 of the series will be released on October 8th. It contains a story in four parts, in which the unicorn Twilight Sparkle must save the citizens of Ponyville from clutches of the evil Queen Chrysalis.

The story - written by Katie Cook and drawn by Andy Price - has a more mature outlook than the television show, but does not betray its spirit.

When issue #1 of the comic series was released in the US in 2012, it had over 100,000 pre-orders and became the best-selling comic of the month. Furthermore, the series has remained high in the US comic charts since its release - one of the few non-Marvel or non-DC series to do so!

Time will tell if the magical pony tales will be as successful in Germany as they have been in the States. Dedicated MLP fans can also look forward to two variant covers of the first issue (priced at € 9.99). A version limited to 333 pieces (for € 20) and an exclusive version limited to 55 pieces (for € 49) will be available at the Comic Action (October 24th to 27th) in Essen.
