This was a really cute idea, well executed. Getting extra time is a real challenge, though. Only managed to do it once.

ReplyDeleteWell, it is a bit unbalanced (understatement) since it's close to impossible to get 10 more barrels the second round since the timer will most likely not be over 1 minute.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with this game is that it actually encourages you to use bad apples. Sure, your score will be lower (than if you were to use all good apples), but it is much easier to do it in the time frame provided, and a score of a few hundred is much more encouraging than a constant score of 0.

ReplyDeleteAs mentioned already, since you receive a time bonus for every 10 barrels and a small point penalty for bad apples, you actually get more points by doing things the FlimFlam way and using every apple.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, very fun game! The only other thing I can think of is to use a different set of keys (perhaps S, D, and F; or X, C, and V?), or add a way to customize keys, for people in other countries who don't use QWERTY keyboard layouts.

ReplyDeleteAlso this game is very well done, but a bit frustrating.
Pretty cool game, but the time is a bit tight and the only way to make it for a long time is to switch off "quality control."

ReplyDeleteIt's too hard to get over 1100-1200 and it takes a lot amount of random. I guess the game needs to be a little more skill dependable, but everything else is good :)

Since it's easier to get more points if you use bad apples too.
Because the penalty is far outweighed by the benefits of saving time.
But seriously, really good game.
Change the balancing on the points or time to make it less rewarding to use bad apples and it'll be a really great game

ReplyDeleteThis game is too horribly unbalanced. There should be a one second reward for every good apple pressed(because it seems to take two seconds to press an apple) and a time reduction for every bad apple pressed, and because productivity is only worth it when you catch four or more apples in one catching session, there should be sprites in the catching session indicating which of the apples falling are the bad ones, although more than likely this game operates on a random number generator.

So, I'm guessing he lowered the difficulty considerably since all the prior comments were posted. By the time I quit due to boredom, I had 10,900 points and the timer was starting with 180 seconds. Never had one bad barrel.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm guessing there were adjustments made. I got to 15000 and had to stop because it would go on forever since I kept starting with more and more time.
ReplyDeleteThe options screen now has difficulty settings and key adjustments. It's a really fun game.
