Dang. Lyra won best non-speaking background character. I came in third behind Vinyl. Not too shabby. How did Screw Loose get Honorary Mention though when she came in sixth? Not saying she isn't great, because she is. But still.

ReplyDeleteDerpy is essentially the Brony mascot so I'm glad she won! Not sure I agree with best overall pony though, personally I like Rainbow Dash the least out of the mane 6, but again that's just my opinion, and obviously not many share it. Again least favorite out of the 6 does not equal I don't like her, it just means I like her less than say Twilight, who in my opinion is sorta the main character anyway.

I was gonna say "That's not how you spell Trixie," but then I realized Trixie isn't a background pony anyway.

So in light of that, I'ma say "YAY DERPY!" :-D
At first I was disappoint that Derpy won over Mac and the 'Bolts.
ReplyDeleteBut then I saw that Rainbow Dash took best pony, and Twilight Sparkle was the runner up (I'd have been happy with the reverse as well), and that Scoots won best filly. And that made EVERYTHING better.

Wouldn't be the first time some one did that (you know the post where pinkie pops out of the screen, that was actually an intro solely designed to get his attention, the rest of the video is music, no video, just music. Not even kidding.)

I never get to vote cause I didn't know there was a survey, and I'm not too happy with the results, some of the the results are disappointing 1 reason is that Fluttershy didn't win the best pony category but I do understand why

ReplyDeleteGotta say, that Pinkie Pie chart (lawl, i c wut they dun thar) made me lol. I had no doubt that Scootaloo was (and is still) best CMC, nor did I doubt that Derpy was the best background pony. I mean, who can resist that level of adorability?

I was a little saddened that Zecora and Cheerilee didn't come in a higher spot than they did. I mean COME ON! Screw Loose hadn't even existed before Read it and Weep, and she probably won't ever appear again but she got the honorable mention? What is this, I don't even...
Rainbow Dash as best overall pony was okay in my opinion. I'd have put her there myself just because of how awesome her bedroom is.
The Great and Powerful Chart made me have a great and powerful sqee attack.

ReplyDeleteNot be overly technical, but a bunch of those characters are not background ponies. They are secondary characters. Derpy is a background pony, because she was created with no other initial role than to fill up the background. Big Mac is not a background pony, because he was created to serve as a foil for another character and had a personality from his first appearance. See also: Mrs. Cake, Daring Do, Cheerilee, and Spitfire.

ReplyDeleteNot sure on the accuracy of this. Pinkie and Shy are mane 6ers. A non mane 6er that TALKS in any way is a secondary pony. A pony that APPEARS in an episode but does not SPEAK is a background pony. They have all three levels in this survey. But I love all ponies!

Best villain: I definitely agree with this one. None of the other villains even come close to ponified Q.

Best speaking background pony: Why are Pinkie and Fluttershy in here? Anyway, Daring Do wins this hands down as far I'm concerned.
Best non-speaking background pony: I must admit I do have a certain fondness for Lyra, despite her lack of lines. I just like her color scheme and cutie mark, I guess.
Best OC: The Sethisto pony obviously wins this one :P
Best CMC: Scootaloo is just awesome. Strange to see "They're all annoying" got so many votes..
Best princess: I'm tempted to go with female Blueblood due to the excellent "Ask Blueblood" tumblr..
Best pony: I really wasn't expecting that. Twilight and Fluttershy usually easily win these competitions. It's a pleasant surprise, though.

This SOUNDED legitimate and interesting, but you should really put up a warning that they are, for the most part, utterly ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteEach category either had a few questionable entries or was completely pointless. Scootaloo as a pet? Diamond Tiara as a CMC? Rarity as a villain? REALLY? Pinkie Pie and Trixie polls that don't even ask anything? REALLY?
Also, the OC character category was discriminate because 1. I'm pretty sure there are too many OC characters out there to narrow it down fairly, and 2. not all bronies would be able to vote in this poll, only those who were familiar with ANY of those characters, leaving out those who are dedicated to the show but not involved in EVERYTHING in the brony fanbase.
You'll probably say that I shouldn't "take things so seriously", but you guys made it sound like these poll results would actually say something, when, the way the polls were apparently set up, they are completely invalid.
