  • Rainbow Dash Belt Buckle and Buttons at Hot Topic

    by Sethisto

It looks like Hot Topic has expanded their pony stock once again, adding both buttons and belt buckles.  It seems like they primarily focus on Rainbow Dash over there, and I'm assuming it's doing well if these have popped up.

I originally thought it was a seat belt, but they apparently all look like that! Never was one for belts.

This 20% cooler pants holding device clocks in at $26, and the button is just $3.

Hot Topic, ladies and gentlemen. Nothing says douchebag like wearing a seatbelt around your waist to hold up your pants. Yeah, it's pony and that's pretty cool, but still.

Do not give Hot Topic money, not that Hasbro is a starving artist, but you can guarantee these were not produced with the proper permissions and even if they were the company is notorious for simply stealing stuff off DeviantArt and other similar artist blog sites without ever asking permission or paying them a penny.

Okay, that's not really fair, and I apologize for my previous statement. There's a ton of other stuff that says that more, and not all of it can be found at Hot Topic. Sorry if I offend, you guys are still cool.

      Not this again...

First: No, you can't guarantee that this design was stolen just because the same store has featured some stolen designs in the past; that would be like giving somepony your guarantee that Sugarcube Corner's baked goods would make them sick just because you sampled one bad batch of muffins. You can suspect, certainly! Evidence of past sins (ahem) is certainly ground for suspicion, but you're going to need some evidence of the present sin before you go flinging accusations.

Second: Hot Topic doesn't make the items it sells, so boycotting them is misdirecting your anger. That would be akin to somepony stepping into Hoity Toity's boutique, taking offense to one of Rarity's designs featured there (perish the thought!) and stomping out, refusing to ever spend another bit at that establishment. Instead of smearing Mr. Toity's good name, check the label first and take it up with Rarity.

Anyway...fine, boycott Hot Topic if it makes you feel better; it's not like either of you will be poorer for it. But are you quite sure the stores you do give your money to are completely innocent of the same crime? It could happen anywhere. Just sayin'.

Rock on! Everypony spends too much on something, may as well be proud of it.

I don't care for the belt; it reminds me of the Chrome bags that hipsters who are "too cool" for Timbuk2 bags wear. I'd wear a nice relatively subtle cutie mark pin or something though. I'm not a fan of slapping a Brony label on myself. If the person looking at me recognizes what the symbol is than it speaks leagues more than somebody reading the word and vaguely remembering it from the Colbert Report. That being said, I work within walking distance from a mall with a Hot Topic, and pretty much every lunch I pass by, look in the window and sigh.

They're trying to make MLP look "Retro" and designed for hipsters. Last thing I would want to see is some "Scene/emo/prep" girl sporting Pinkie Pie, yuck.

I feel really bad because my friend got me a shirt from Hot Topic that has Sweetie Belle on the shirt and it looks as if she if grabbing the shirt and above it says "Dumb Fabric". I hate HT, but it was like 10 dollars cheaper at HT than the only other place I could've gotten it, which is WeLoveFine. Also, only HT had it in black which I really liked so...I had to sacrifice buying something from that awful store to meet those criteria. However, I will probably never buy anything from there again.

I'm really late to this, but dang, do I want that belt. I was just at Hot Topic last week, but none there yet. I would have bought that instantly though. I already wear one of those belt buckle belts as a belt anyway. :D

A friend of mine, who I recently introduced to MLP:FiM with "Smile, Smile, Smile", got me the pin as an early birthday present. My friends are amazing.
