  • The "Piggy Dance Song" Was From Season One

    by Sethisto

A bit of minor song news this time around.  First off we have some official names for the two ("Piggy Dance" and "Happy Monthiversary"), so write those down if you plan to remix them!

Second off, "Piggy Dance" was actually part of "The Best Night Ever" in season one, but got cut due to time restrictions.  Hopefully the finale in season two is a full on multi-parter, or better yet, an hour long special.  Can you handle that much pony?

Hmm, it just seems weird thinking of the Piggy Dance song being used in the S1 Finale

I don't think anyone can handle that much pony.

      But we WILL try.

@PhantomBadger I can see it, actually. She'd do it out of desperation after the Pony Pokey fails.

uh, how in the wide world of pony would PIGS fit into season one in any way? Only fit in this episode because it was meant to be random.

Where on earth could the piggy song fit? You don't think she had a full playlist to follow up The Pony Pokey, do you?

I wonder where in S1 it would be =/. It was well fitted in to this episode though.

I don't see how Piggy Dance would have fit at all in The Best Night Ever. Unless by "season 1 finale", he means the Discord episodes. That was originally intended to be the finale.

An entire hour of pony? How would we handle it?! I mean we only spend the entire day beforehand watching marathons for hours upon hours upon hours... I don't know how we could handle a full hour of new pony after that. ^^

Hmmm, interesting. I don't think I ever could have placed the Piggy Dance Song in any other scenario, not mentally at least, I'm sure that Studio B could pull it off.

"Piggy Dance" could have been in the "Best Night Ever" episode as a song Pinkie sings spontaneously for the upper-class ponies at the Gala.

Well, "The Piggy Dance" is kind of like "The Chicken Dance", which actually does get done at formal functions like family weddings, so I could see it as the kind of embarrassing party fun that Pinkie might try to get the uptight Gala folks involved in.

Can we handle this much pony? Probably. Not sure how many of us would make it out alive though. And as for the "Piggy" song, I am in a fit of giggles just picturing Pinkie trying to get the gala crowd dancing to that.

I don't think I can ever have enough pony. Would have been interesting to see the Piggy song played at the Gala. But then again it was well suited for this episode. Everything happens for a reason ;)

Hm I have 2 things to say:
1.) The Piggy Song doesn't really fit with the Gala in my opinion, it's too childish for that, so I'm happy that it was cut and instead used where it is more fitting.
And with "childish" I don't mean anything negative, it's simply the feeling of the song in the context of the episode.

2.) I have to really praise the makers of MLP:FiM again, normally this executive meddling is a bad thing for any show, but here they actually improve the show.
Like this song for example. Or the current mane 6 compared to their early prototypes. Pinkie as an earth pony and Fluttershy as a pegasus really adds something to their character. Same with Rainbow Dash, seeing how important that rainbow-theme is to her character.

He didn't say that Pony Pokey replaced Piggy Dance, only that Piggy Dance was cut due to time. It sounds like it would've appeared in addition to Pony Pokey.

Well, yeah, he didn't replace one song for another, I'm just saying that the Pony Pokey would have been the most appropriate time to use the Piggy Dance, since Pinkie was trying to liven things up.
