Have some Joseco Derpy because I don't have any Big Mac or Cheerilee on hoof.
AT&T's Uverse has put up an extended version of the summary for Hearts and Hooves Day. Slightly more information ahoy! Find it after the break.
Hearts and Hooves Day
The Cutie Mark Crusaders create a strong love potion in the hopes of making Miss Cheerilee and Big Macintosh fall in love, but when they discover the serious side effects of their concoction, they quickly regret their actions.

ReplyDeleteIncoming Mac lines ! #slowpoke
ReplyDeleteWow, continuity from the Cutie Pox ending! Nice!
ReplyDeleteA love potion. That must mean Zecora might be in it too.
ReplyDeleteThis episode is sounding more and more interesting.
The plot thickens.
ReplyDeleteOh this is going to be amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove potion gone wrong? That sounds interesting! Seems like Zecora will make an appearance in this episode.
ReplyDeleteOh, Status Quo, so nice to see you... yet again.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be one pointless episode. I hope they write some good jokes for it, 'cause nothing else can save it from trash bin.
"Side effects", huh?
ReplyDeleteSuddenly the climax from Lesson Zero comes to mind...
Well, this could be interesting. Wacky potion antics are always fun. Wonder what the side effects will be, and whether things will spread beyond Mac and Cheerilee?
ReplyDeletePoor Mac and love spells. First Smartypants, now Cheerilee.
Eeeyup
ReplyDeleteWatch as we work our gypsy magic
ReplyDeleteAdd Heart's Desire and Poison Joke
Brewing love potions, what a notion
Crusaders Cupids are Go!
They'll cook up a solution with the knowledge they've accrued...
ReplyDeleteOh God, Fixing Miss Smartypants is about to be canon (mostly).
ReplyDeleteHey guys, hey guys, hey guys guys guys. You guys uh, need some witches brew? Got some right here. 2 jars. Cold, hot fresh witches brew. Only 10 bucks a pop. Side effects include wine, women and song.
ReplyDeleteOMG Cheerilee!!! I'm so happy she's going to get an episode. :)
ReplyDeleteCant wait till the new EP comes out
ReplyDelete@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDeleteLike every other time there's been a 'status quo' episode and it's been a complete disappointment?
OH GOD WAT
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be the most adorable episode ever. CMC messing about with love potion? I squee, sir, I squee.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Big Mac is finally going to have some actual speaking lines again.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be awesome. I'm actually hoping for MacxCheerilee to be made official, but whatever happens I'm sure it will rock.
ReplyDelete@The Invincible
ReplyDeleteHomestar for the win! /)(\
So the plot thickens, wonder what the side effects will be :O
ReplyDeleteYesh!
ReplyDeleteOh shoot.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly I care about this episode.
I KNEW IT! I FUCKING KNEW IT! (they need to stop robbing Zecora)
ReplyDeleteCUTIE MARK CRUSADER ALCHEMISTS YAY! also Shipping? Shipping.
ReplyDelete>inb4 "Love potion no.9" reference
ReplyDelete>inb4 erection lasting longer than 4 hours reference
Well this just adds a whole new dimension to the scenario. I so wanna know what the side effects are, no matter how wacky they are.
ReplyDeleteThe Zecora-Apple Bloom relationship is interesting to me. I guess Zecora is becoming Apple Bloom's mentor rather than Twilight's. I hope they explore this a little more in this episode.
ReplyDeleteShip fics saved, disaster averted.
ReplyDeleteShould've used Love Potion #10, it's been so so SO much more refined than... o3o Love Potion #9
ReplyDelete@TechnoTrot
ReplyDeleteIt's not as much about status quo (though I hate that one with passion, I keep in mind MLP team has executives behind its back) as it is about premise. I mean, love potions is the lamest way to introduce romance, with subtlety akin to jackhammer, it cheapens whole affair (not to mention it's been done to death)
If legitimate couple is not an option, writers could always put some effort and come up with plausible reasons for romantically involved to part, like family circumstances, work and so on. And it would actually be a lesson.
Oh dear.
ReplyDeleteZecora really really needs to keep her ingredients away from children.
ReplyDeleteCanon. Love. Potions.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm going to miss this episode because of work! Thank God for streams.
A magic potion the Crusaders brewed
ReplyDeleteTo get Mac and Cheerilee "in the mood"
They think that they're helping; their reason is pure
This won't end well at all, I think we can ensure
Big Mac seems to have the worst lunch with enchantments and compulsion spells this season, huh? First Discord, then Twilight, now the CMCF and possibly Zecora. Poor smuck.
ReplyDelete........Poor Mac ends up at the wrong end of love magic once again.
ReplyDeleteIm hoping for another sonic filly boom like in Lesson Zero
Bleh. I don't like the involvement of love potions.
ReplyDelete@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDeleteI think they purposely DON'T want legitimate love (the romantic type) in this show. They are keeping the target demographic in mind. 6 year old girls aren't interested in real, deep relational love. They just view it is crazy crushes, pink floaty hearts, and love potions. Studio B is keeping things appropriate.
Romantic comedy? In MY pony? Why not.
ReplyDeleteWell damn, maybe Applebloom's talent IS potion making.
ReplyDeleteAlso, nice of them to save the FlutterMac fics from complete destruction.
CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS POTION MAKERS YAY!
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling this was how the CMC would mess with things. Though, that having been said, I can definitely see things still working out in the end.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the CheeriMac shipping can still be rendered canon, with the two of them still having genuine feelings for the other even after the effects of the potions are lifted. Remember Big Mac and the Smarty Pants doll from Lesson Zero, even after the Want-It-Need-It was dispelled?
I can see that happening. ...Or, at least, the two of them being completely embarrassed about it...but the two of them not discounting the chance there might be something between them, and leaving the possibility open to develop a true relationship.
If nothing else, I'm still looking forward to the episode.
Love potions are ALWAYS a bad idea.
ReplyDelete...And does this mean Apple Bloom really is an amazing potion maker?
Wonder if there's going to be a Love Potion #9 reference in this episode. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the end of the episode, Big Mac and Cheerilee are almost certainly going to go their separate ways. I'm thinking the CMCs are going to slip the potion into Cheerilee's water or something and Big Mac may not even want a relationship. He might even be gay for all we know.
ReplyDelete@vulpixel
ReplyDeleteYeah, but that begs the question - why "crazy crush" between grown up persons? They could always tell the tale about "first love in school" or something.
But oh well. I hope jokes will be good.
I think it's actually pretty likely that at the end of the episode, there will be one new relationship that carries on. I think what's most likely is that "Cheerimac" will work out DESPITE the love potion ...
ReplyDeleteBut... But I don't understand? Fluttershy is the one get the love potion right? I mean they even stand together on the train platform in The last roundup! Just a small sidestep towards each other and a little imagination and they're practically a couple for neighing out loud!
ReplyDeleteWell...at least one can hope. ;)
Ah, the old Love Potion story.
ReplyDeleteI just hope they can tell it in a new and interesting way...
so i guess they make cheerilee a slut and big mac a rapist or what are the side effects?
ReplyDeleteim probably wrong :D but what are these side effects?
i wanna know!
@BlazingTorch
ReplyDeleteThis isn't hentai, you know. My money's on diarrhea, lacrimation and extensive drooling.
Love potion, you say? I hope prof. Slughorn is somewehre nearby.
ReplyDeleteCMC: "Cutie Mark Crusader Alchemists! YAY!"
ReplyDeleteMe: "No!"
CMC: "Aw."
I'm thinking the "side effects" are more along the lines of complete obsession with the object of affection and a refusal to do anything except swoon over them.
ReplyDeleteZecora really needs to keep her stuff away from those fillies...
ReplyDeleteClearly we're going to get that 80's Cheerilee x Hippy Big Mac image. A love potion that makes you think it's the 80s.
ReplyDeleteThis episode is going to be amazing now that the CMC are wreaking havoc in the love department >:D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more character development For Cheerilee and Big Mac!
ReplyDeleteSure, love potions are overdone, but there's only so many ways a kids show can do the whole "third party tries to get two people/ponies together and hilarity ensues" plot line.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sure it'll be hilarious and a great episode. I mean, they took on cliches like the Halloween and Christmas/Holiday episode and those were awesome.
Episode Zero mark II? Poor Big Mac is again on the receiving end of mind control magic.
ReplyDeleteIs this stuff even legal in Equestria? I highly doubt any society with access to such level of magic or technology would not take measures to protect itself against it. Like Culture series, where violating integrity of mind was considered the worst possible crime.
CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS CHILD CRIMINALS!
They seem to be hitting all the holidays this season. Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day. Wonder if they've got anything planned for Easter or does Winter Wrap-up cover that?
ReplyDeleteCUTIE MARK CRUSADERS RECKLESS PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCHERS YAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove Potion #8
ReplyDeleteThis episode sounds humouressly great! I simply can ot wait!
ReplyDeleteCMC catch the two fucking and Cheerilee gets pregnant and dies
ReplyDeleteI swear Applebloom is gunna get a cutiemark in potion making eventually. That's my guess.
ReplyDeleteOh man, this episodes gonna be AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they swap genders?
ReplyDelete> Shippins saved.
ReplyDelete> Still gonna' be a great episode.
Thank you ever so much Hasbro and the team.
@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDelete>judging an entire episode based off of a two-sentence synopsis
I hope you're trolling...
You mean the romance episode in the slice of life show will be driven by CMC antics rather than a sudden change from slice of life to massive continuity?
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked, shocked by this turn of events.
@Joe
ReplyDeletebutthurt much?
Also, I'm not judging it, I'm saying that love potions suck.
I'm not sure whether to trust this plot summary or not...
ReplyDeleteBut if it's true, then I say this is DEFINITELY turning out like that Powerpuff Girls episode, almost. I can't wait to see how Big Mac and Cheerilee act under the effects of the love potion!
I heard the words "Side-effects" there, so I'm getting VERY suspicious.
ReplyDeleteEverypony gonna fall in love with Big Mac. Cause Big Mac get all the bitchs
ReplyDeleteWow, Zecora must be getting tired of these pony children sneaking into her house and wasting all her potion-making ingredients.
ReplyDeleteAnyway though, I wouldn't be surprised if this episode takes the typical Valantine's day "love potion" cartoon episode formula, and puts in a twist that almost nopony was expecting. The writers on this show do seem to enjoy doing that, lol. I'm going to go ahead and call it that this episode is gonna be awesome XD
I hope that the potion thing gets out of hand like it did with Mr Smartpants when the whole of Ponyville was fighting for a puppet. XD
ReplyDeleteWould be more fun though if Dash drinks the potion accidently. XD
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how far into the episode it goes until the love potion idea comes into play.
ReplyDeleteWagers? I say 9 minutes.
@Gypsy
ReplyDeleteI don't need to see stupid shit like this.
@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDeleteYeah there's a love potion and a possibility of relationship involved, but I don't think the episode is trying to focus on either. It's about the CMC messing up again and it just happens to include (an attempt at) love because of the holiday. In fact, the show probably agrees with you that "love potions suck" since the moral looks to be "don't do them".
@Silver Heart
ReplyDeleteBig Mac held his nose, he closed his eyes... he took a drink!
He couldn't tell if it was day or night. He started kissing every mare in sight. But when he kissed a Royal Guard down on 34th and Vine, they broke his little bottle of Love Potion #9.
;D Gotta give Zecora the stereotypical Gypsy travelling wagon for this one!
AWESOME
ReplyDelete@Arcticwlf
ReplyDelete*patents a refined version of Love Portion #9* Its pharmaceutical name is dihydroxycatecholaminergic triethyltetrabezodiazepinemide hexacylsulfonate.
It would be funny if the twist was that Big Mac couldn't stop talking, or maybe it's a Freaky Friday type thing and Big Mac starts acting like Cheerilee and vice versa. "Did I pass the test Ms Cheerile?" "Eeeenope!"
ReplyDeleteSerious side effects?
ReplyDelete...uh-oh... OuO
I'm with James on this... what if the side effects have nothing to do with the intended pair and other ponies drink it by accident? Perhaps there's gonna be a whole lot of shipping going on which involves everypony apart from Cheerilee and Mac???
ReplyDelete@LezliDax
ReplyDelete*crosses fingers*
plzplzplzplzplz
@Amonisis
ReplyDeletebeat me to it.

ReplyDeleteWarning: Side effects of strong love potions may include the following.
ReplyDelete*Unintended pregnancies in both mare and stallion
*Molestia
*Shippiung fanfics
*Wing boners that last longer than four hours
*Saucy fan art
*Clips on youtube that can be easily taken out of context
*Clop fiction
*Pony music videos
*Phrases that become Internet memes
If you experience any of these symptoms, please contact your health care provider.
@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDeleteThe lesson in this appears to be for the CMC's, not the adults they rope into their scheme. Keep in mind the target demographic.
Sounds familiar...Oh i know where i have heard this before! Mighty Morphing Power Rangers season 2. Rita uses a love potion on Zedd to make him fall in love with her but the potion had some unexpected side affects. The side affects were that Zedd wanted to move the relationship along to fast(and also have a kid)and the reason behind these side affects were that Zedd actually loved Rita without the love potions power
ReplyDeleteInteresting.
ReplyDeleteWell this certainly explains a lot more.
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed that it's due to a potion and thus most probably not permanent. I was hoping for some canon shipping.
ReplyDelete@vulpixel This is sort of like Rita and Zedd from Mighty Morphing power rangers, That show was targeting little kids at around ages 5-10, and Rita and Zedd got married
ReplyDelete@ponydoraprancypants
ReplyDeleteCrude brew, do you fear it, Cutie crew?
Cheerilee gets knocked up.
ReplyDeleteI bet we'll see Zecora again.
ReplyDeleteCutie Mark Crusader Matchmakers! Yay!
ReplyDelete... ok then, um was I the only one who thought Rule 63 when reading "serious side effects"? And we're probably getting another Zecora appearance... oh this will be fun
ReplyDelete*eyes widen* S-side effects?!
ReplyDeleteI read "on hoof" as "on the hoof". Too much Backstroke of the West...
ReplyDeleteOh, this episode will be VERY interesting. Now that the show dropped the 'ei' sign (evil grin)
ReplyDeleteI so called this being the workings of Applebloom the Potions Master! I'm not sure whether she's gonna get a hammer on her flank, or a mortar and pestle.
ReplyDeleteHearth's Warming Eve - Avoid the topic of 'Christmas' and replace with own canon.
ReplyDeleteHearts and Hooves - Make it a typical CMC 'Status Quo' Episode and totally rub 'Valentines' in everybody's face.
Makes me weep for the children.
@FreezingShock
ReplyDeleteMy first thought when I read the updated synopsis.
Makes me think that others will end up drinking the potion and fall in love with others.
ReplyDeleteMore Zecora is always a good thing
ReplyDeleteMore Cheerilee is always a good thing
More Big Mac is always a good thing
More CMC buggering things up is always a good thing
I am struggling to see how this episode can even TRY to be bad.
"What are you, one of those special magazines that I have to hide under the - you know what, forget that last part."
ReplyDelete- Scootaloo, this episode
@MachinimistLuke
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree about Valentines part, I don't see how avoiding Christmas in show about magical ponies is a bad thing.
You mean to say they should've made up holiday about birth of pony savior or something?
Fuckin called it!
ReplyDelete@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDeleteHearth's Warming Eve was a brilliant episode.
Hearts and Hooves will be it's complete parallel.
@Mattatatta
ReplyDelete"More Zecora is always a good thing
More Cheerilee is always a good thing
More Big Mac is always a good thing
More CMC buggering things up is always a 'good' thing"
The Last of These Is Not Like the Others
If zebras are Equestria's equivalent to black people, does that mean that magic potions are Equestria's equivalent to methamphetamines?
ReplyDeleteI predict: Everyone falls in love with Big Mac OR Big Mac starts macking on everyone. Anyway it turns out, I'm going to enjoy finally having a Big Mac story. I bet the shippers are going to have fun forever with this one.
ReplyDeleteAs for the argument about the love potion, it's pretty much a way to represent an abstract notion like forced affection in an identifiable physical form. So yeah, not breaking ground, but it's difficult to think of a more effective way to get that lesson across to the young'uns.
I ain't much for shipping, but Cheerilee and Big Mac? DO WANT! Ooooh the hilarity, I can already imagine it.
ReplyDeleteBig Macintosh: I want her
ReplyDeleteCheerilee: I need him
Both: I really like your mane!
"strong love potion" I KNEW IT... lol
ReplyDeleteanyways can wait for the episode for what i think its going to be a lot of fun :)
Great episode for Valentines Day.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, since this has similarities to both Lesson Zero and it looks like we'll be seeing more of Big Mac if Mr. Smartypants will have a bit part in this.
ReplyDeleteThat would be squee awesome, even if we see him off in a corner somewhere.
Ohohohoboy, this is gonna be awesome...
ReplyDeleteAh, so they make a love potion. Inafter lots of speculations concerning Zecora. lol Should be rather interesting to see what these "side effects" are.
ReplyDelete"but when they discover the serious side effects of their concoction, they quickly regret their action."
ReplyDeletemy mind isn't ready D:
I spy with my little eyes... 3 lovestruck fillies! The potion backfires, and they find themselves the potion takers. Like the Jimmy Neutron episode.
ReplyDeleteThats my prediction, anyway.
Oh no, you posted a JJ image!!! AVERT THE CHILDREN'S EYES!!!!
ReplyDeletei thought apple bloom already learned her lesson about making potions
ReplyDelete@timmythissen Eenope.
ReplyDeleteFluttershy drinks some, then all of Cartoonlion's stuff becomes canon.
ReplyDeleteHere is my guess:
ReplyDeleteAt the end, Cheerilee and Mac will drink the antidote and they will be back to normal, but just before the episode ends, Zecora will notice that the potion's effects had already worn off on their own hours ago, >implying that Cherilee and Mac were genuinely interested on each other.
@The Invincible okay but can you give me te ten bucks tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteLooks like continuity with the Cutie Pox...
ReplyDelete@Maneko im gonna have to go with this theory. they wouldnt ship such an unexpected paring and then end up going absolutely nowhere with it.
ReplyDelete@timmythissen
ReplyDeleteHonestly Applebloom made more of a bioweapon, than a potion in the cutie pox episode.
So, what? This is a continuation of the Cutie Pox episode? That's cool.
ReplyDeleteBut a love potion? I wasn't expecting there to be any real romance, but a love potion? Dang, that's even more ridiculous than I could have hoped for.
Wait... "Serious side effects?"
Like, "Contact your doctor if your erection lasts for more than four hours" or what?
Because it's really easy to imagine Apple Bloom accidentally inventing pony viagra.
I knew it! I knew it was going to be a love potion!
ReplyDelete>serious side effects
ReplyDeleteinb4 cancer
My guess? The potion takes effect immediately, and Mac and Cheerilee start doing it right there and then (hence the crusaders regretting their actions
ReplyDeleteoh god...
ReplyDeleteJudging by the description, this is going to be a pretty darn good episode. Regardless of whether or not this will be actual love, I have a feeling that this is gonna be above average.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm thinking that:
1. The CMC will make a love potion because
-A. they misinterpret something that Cheerilee/ Big Mac says/does as affection toward Big Mac/ Cheerilee.
-B. Cheerilee/ Big Mac actually does have feelings toward Big Mac/ Cheerilee, but Cheerilee/ Big Mac has some reason or excuse to not act upon their feelings, and the CMC feel like they should help their teacher/ friend.
-C. they did it completely by accident.
2. "Side effects".
3. Things get crazier than
-A. an elderly home.
-B. The Gala.
-C. 4chan at 3AM.
-D. KINDERGARTENERS
-E. old people without prescription drugs
-F. kindergarteners with prescription drugs
4. The potion
-A. wears off,
-B. is stopped by Twilight/Zecora/Celestia,
5. then Cheerilee/ Big Mac
-A. become friends.
-B. stay friends.
-C. find that they have feelings for each other.
-D. awkwardly glance at each other then look away and blush.
-E. MAKE SHIPPING CANON!!!OMGWTFBBQROFLMFAOOL
6.????
7. MORAL
I'm pretty sure they'll throw in a very subtle adult-ish reference somewhere.
Anyway, that's just what I think will happen, but this show seems to somehow do a better job of proving me wrong and making me look like an idiot than I myself do.
holy shit that took a long time to write, but I think we'd all rather wildly speculate about a little girl's cartoon than, say, do homework, eat dinner, or skype our significant other.
AMIRIGHT?
This was a 2.5 hours well spent...
@IkkouSoryu
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that this show is aimed at 4 to 6 year old girls.I doubt this will start an actual relationship since little kids don't really care about romance. It's also not uncommon for children's shows to use love potion just because it's a Valentine's day special. The only thing that is going to come out of it is the CMCs learning not to try to force ponies into a relationship.
CALLED IT!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny cause I actually expected this.
Fluttermac Lives on! ^-^
I hear excited jibbering in the background... Oh wait, it's just the shipping writers getting hyped up about potential shipping material.
ReplyDeleteNothing to worry about, I'm sure!
@IkkouSoryu it has nothing to do with that, it has to do with the cmc doing another thing that involves a plan that is not well thought out.
ReplyDelete@ChaosDX1 Sir, we all know Apple Bloom is an Engineer.
ReplyDelete@Neros I respect this comment
ReplyDeletethis sounds like an interesting episode :D
ReplyDeleteWill their love potion be named Love Potion 976/J? ;-)
ReplyDelete@MachinimistLuke
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to watch!
@Neros
ReplyDeleteThis.
IT'S THE "WANT IT NEED IT SPELL" AGAIN RUN EVERYPONY, RUN FOR THE HILLS
ReplyDelete@Maneko
ReplyDeleteThen it will be like the fic 'Sparkle Kitten' or something.
Apple Bloom why you no learn lesson!
ReplyDeleteA love potion you say? Strong side effects you say? CMC you say? I smell wacky comic hijinks ahead. And possibly continuity with the end of the Cutie Pox. Hhmm maybe Applebloom's talent is potion making? I guess we will be seeing Zecora again.
ReplyDeleteI bet it starts out with the CMC noticing that Big Mac and Cheerilie are exchanging romantic looks as Hearts and Hooves day approches but they are both to shy to say anything. CMC get the bright idea to play cupid and mix up a love potion, only things don't go according to plan. So the CMC have to run damage control and find a cure to the love potion. Friendship lesson: Don't mess with other people's love.
Cheerilee AND Big Mac ??
ReplyDeleteWow... well that comes straight out of left field, as the expression says ?
... ...is there already a story about that ?
Good maybe now we can stop the FlutterMac stuff because this sounds way better.
ReplyDeleteWas expecting the typical hijinx of kids trying to play cupid but a love potion definitely raises the ante.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Applebloom and the others put into practice what they learned offscreen after "Cutie Pox".
This is really going to be alot of fun.
Big mac is gonna split her in half like a piece of lumber
ReplyDeleteKEEP THAT TRAMP AWAY FROM FLUTTERSHY'S STALLION!
ReplyDeleteWe now need some Cheermac shipping fics
ReplyDeleteA love potion? Alright, my expectations for this episode have just dropped through the floor.
ReplyDeletei suspect those harking on a repeat of Professor Utonium and Ms. Keane's sortie. It's really a good example. Story starts good, it goes bad. Story starts bad, it goes good. That is oversymplifying of course, but as a general rule of thumb, it gets the job done.
ReplyDeleteJesus.
ReplyDeleteBRACE YOURSELF
FOR THE CLOPFICS
I love shipping.
ReplyDeleteBut I wanted ApplejackxSpike instead.
I guess the side effects are it makes Big Mac and Cherilee hate everyone in Ponyville including each other. That would make the episode really hilarious.
ReplyDelete
