ReplyDelete#2 Well... what can I say bout this piece? Y'know, when I first saw it, it reminded me of the Lil Miss Rarity blog. The style is rather similar. And it has such a dark nature to it like you'd expect from them. At lest I think so. It's rather interesting. Very nicely done no doubt. I guess that white around my hind legs are the tops of the stockings. I thought they were cuffs at first and I was strapped to something.
#3 Celestia's expression looks so shocked and embarrassed in this one. It's like it's Molestia and we're just not seeing the entire picture here. lol Sorry. That's what the face reminds me of. Merry Christmas to you too, Mol... Celestia. :)

ReplyDeleteI regret clicking on it, however I asked why people even make them. I for one find it gross that people think of these cute ponies in that way.
#2 Well, jcharlesmachiavelli's "saucy" Octavia is extremely well done. Somehow I get an Art Nouveau vibe from it, or something from the 1920's. That might be from the soft lighting, and because it is mostly monochrome, except for a touch of color on the cheek. The shading is lovely, the mane seems unfinished and she's missing her nostrils. She looks oddly anthropomorphic, even for a MLP. I think it's because she has a shortened rostrum and her fore limbs are way too thin. While a pony should have a convex upper thorax, I think Pinkie Pie's chest looked similar during her "she does evil dances" song at the beginning of Bridle Gossip. It looked weird then and it looks oddly human on Ocatvia here. It doesn't help that she looks hairless and that she's sleeping on her back. If she has fur, it looks too pale.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone working on MLP has seen this stuff. There's always going to be people working on shows who'll see their work in ways they don't want to see them. The best they can do is steer clear.

#20: Monythecat's Fluttery. Nice mix of curvey shapes and dynamic scribbles and scratches in this full body portrait of Fluttershy.
#24: Macflash2's Long Live the Unicorn. Rarity is a riot on that throne with her smug little smile.
And #2 ("saucy" sleeping Octavia) is a reluctant favorite too, just for the sheer artistic wow.
Studio B has seen MLP stuff like #2 and beyond. The artists at DHX media are not only bigger fans of MLP than a good many of us are, they're artists. They've taken all the classes, they've drawn all the anatomy, they've seen it all. They're pros.

Do you HAVE ANY IDEA how many parts there are to a keyboard!!! I had to take it apart to clean it out. Nuttin' like warm distilled water to clean up gummy electronics.

The phone number on 18 isn't real, it actually spells out "fleur-de-lis" on a numerical phone keypad.
