In the defense of Panty and Stocking: It is pretty much what happens when the creators of Gurren Lagann and FLCL go to a spa and get drunk and put the results into Flash. The result is the hybrid of Powerpuff Girls, South Park and Bayonetta.

I'm surprised Twilight wasn't cast for the role of Stocking, what with the color scheme and all.
But Seth, you HAVE to watch PSG as soon as you can. It's not filly-friendly, but it's hilarious. That last panel sums it up.

(#2) Put it this way, the people behind P&SwG, were inspired by (of all things) 'Drawn Together'

In the actual episode the comic is referencing, Panty actually did a 'Rarity'--i.e. get covered in mud...

...Except that it wasn't mud (and I'll just leave it at that).

#2 PSG is bar none one hilarious anime. Plot (as barely existent as it is) is all over the place, the bad guys are almost as bad as the good guys, and Gainax being who they are in full force for the ending make this a must watch. They even continuously tease season two just to keep the trolling fresh.

Certainly not for the weak of heart, mind, or stomach, but so well worth the mental scarring and trauma to watch it. And yes, while I found funny to see Rarity's reaction, Twilight does make a better Stocking. AJ looks good in Panty's little red dress, but she's practically the complete opposite of who she is (personality wise). Still makes for a great casting job. Spike easily is Chuck.
