Hey, you! Yes, you, with the pony!
Do you have a jailbroken iOS device? If so, you should totally check out this complete pony overhaul. It's from a pony named Ziddia and it replaces, as far as I can tell, the lock screen and the icons for the default apps.

It's been added to a repository you can test from at http://www.cydia.myrepospace.com/ziddia, and it's also being added to TheBigBoss as I type this. (Again, just in case you didn't know, that's pretty much the biggest source around, it comes with the installation of Cydia).
It's the only package in the myrepospace repository, so it's not that difficult to find. I've tested the installation myself, it's working perfectly and installs directly into Winterboard as it should.
Kind of makes me wish I wasn't so nervous about jailbreaking my iPad.

ReplyDeleteThe only thing it seems that I can't do with mine(not jailbroken) is change the app icons to ponies and make it say 'slide for ponies' lol. Lock screen and home screen image can be changed in settings, so that's good enough for me. This is still pretty cool though.

ReplyDeleteRemember with the modern devices and jailbreacking methods nothing cn go wrong, if it fails to jailbreack and won't boot? want to unjailbreack it? just plug it into iTunes and clcik restore.

You need to get rid of the www. from the url of that repo, so it's http://cydia.myrepospace.com/Ziddia/ .

ReplyDeleteMake sure you enter EXACTLY what I copied in, Cydia is extremely picky.
It seems to me like the theme will only work correctly on versions 4.1 and up. If you have anything below that you will encounter missing icons.

ReplyDeleteOpen Cydia, go into Manage then Sources, click Edit then Add Source and type in http://cydia.myrepospace.com/Ziddia/
Once you have the source added tap on Ziddia then tap Friendship is Magic and download that.
Once you've downloaded it go into Winterboard then Select Themes and tap Friendship is Magic.
Then respiring your device.
Definitely a step forward. I think I should try my hand at this and make my own theme too.

ReplyDeleteActually, I've read that the problem might be that the icon names might be wrong for the version. I have no idea how to rename them, however.
Well, they are not Retina graphics, meaning they look blurry on iPhone 4 displays. Anyone who has iPhone 3GS and lower it should be okay. Same with touch 3 or lower. Would like to see an HD version.

ReplyDeleteI've found a fix for all us that are missing icons. It's kind of tedious, but totally worth it:
ReplyDelete1. Open up the system directory of your device via SSH or iFunBox
2. Navigate to /Private/Var/Stash/Themes.(random#'s)/
3. In there will be the folder for the Friendship is Magic theme, navigate into it and find the "Bundles" folder. Within there are folders containing icons.
4. Note that the icons are labled something like "icon@x2". Simply open the image file in any photo editing program and scale the image by 50%.
5. Rename the image(s) to the appropriate app ("Contacts" = Address Book, "Calendar" = Calendar, etc.)
6. Move new edited icons to the "icons" folder in the original Friendship is Magic theme folder.
7. Respring and rejoice with pony!
The URL in the post is wrong. The "Z" in "Ziddia" needs to be capitalized or it will not work.

I would also just quickly like to point out that you need to remove the www, capitalize the Z. It won't change your backgrounds. And the icons were named how they were for a reason, supposedly that's how it works.

Well, I had originally designed it for iOS 4... I've emailed Cereal, I'm working on fixing all the compatability issues. I will get it fixed by the end of the weekend, I'm going to be out until Sunday afternoon though. Hopefully there will be both an iOS 3 and lower compatible version and an iOS 4 version.

However, mine still doesn't work.
Ver.4 installs fine, but I only get the Winterboard icon.
Ver 2-3 won't won't download to my iPhone 3GS because of some compatibility error. Ah well... maybe there'll be a way to figure it out *shrugs*
